Chapter 14 Emily Johnson
They were all anxious, and a few were even so anxious that they cried.
Seeing Claudia standing here, one of them rushed over and asked, âMiss, have you seen a woman in a
red dress, around forty or fifty years old?â
The one who asked was a little girl. Her eyes were red, and there was some trembling on her
shoulders. She was worried and also scared.
Claudia shook her head.
The little girl cried again and looked elsewhere.
Claudia remembered reading gossip somewhere that the mother of several children of the Friedan
family, Emily Johnson, had me ntal problems since her daughter went missing and needed a lot of care
and attention, so it was true.
Actually, Emily was a miserable woman.
The greatest pain in the world was the pain of losing a child. Emily wanted a daughter so badly. She
had three sons before she had a daughter, but before Emily could raise her daughter, she disappeared.
Claudiaâs heart was a little stuffy at the thought.
She thought, âI hope nothing happens to this daughter-loving Emily.â
In the hospital, Edmond woke up.
Rosalie, who had been standing by, choked with joy when she saw him wake up, âEdmond, youâre
awake!â

Edmond opened his mouth and asked, âHow is she?â
âWho?â Rosalie was confused.
âClaudia.â
Rosalie pretended to come to her senses and say, âSheâs fine, and she insisted on getting out of the
hospital. It seems she went to meet the elders of the Friedan family.â
Edmond pursed his lips as the words came out.
Rosalie watched his expression carefully.
She was told by her best friend who attended the party at the Friedan family that Claudia also went to
the party.
Rosalie said that on purpose.
âEdmond, if she insists on being with Waldron, we should give her our blessing.â
Blessingsâ¦
Edmond sneered, anger brewing in his heart.
He could give his blessing, but not to Claudia and Waldron.
Seeing that he was angry, Rosalie hastened to hold his hand affectionately. âCicely said she wanted to
see us married early, on a date early next month. Edmond, will you marry me?â
Rosalie was apprehensive and expectant.
Edmond promised to take good care of her before, and now that he had divorced, and Cicely agreed, it
was time for them to get married.
At her expectant glance, however, Edmond drew his hand away.
âEdmond.â Rosalie grabbed her coat nervously. âDonât you want Cicely to be happy? Cicely would love
to see me married to you.â
âSo does she want you to marry Edmond or Tristen?â
Rosalie froze, and in an instant, her face went from pale to red, from red to livid.
âWhen we have a wedding, do people call me Tristen or Edmond? Arenât you afraid of getting exposed
at the wedding?â
A low voice emanated from his throat, the tone of his voice playful and the sarcasm in his eyes.
Rosalie had long thought about this and smiled sweetly, âWe donât need to have a big wedding, and
weâll just invite a few familiar people then. As long as everything is arranged, Cicely wonât notice any of
this.â
Edmondâs gaze deepened, a sneer in his low voice. âMom thinks of me as my brother now. Are you
going to think of me as him too?â
âNo, Edmond, Iâ¦â Rosalie panicked and stood up. âYou know, itâs always been you Iâve liked all these
years, so how could I ever think of you as Tristen?â
âLetâs put this matter on hold.â Edmondâs eyelashes lowered, his eyes landing on his cell phone, and he
unconsciously stepped off the bed.
âEdmond, donât come down. The doctor said you still need to recuperate.â Rosalie stopped him in a
panic, tears filling her eyes.
Edmond pursed his lips as his eyes landed on his legs and couldnât help but think of the scene where
Claudia rushed into the fire to save him.

Claudia was deliberately taking it out on him with those words, wasnât
she?
A warmth flooded through his heart as he touched the spot where Claudia had touched him.
Seeing him struggle to get up, Rosalie cried, large tears sliding down her face.
She cried and hugged Edmond. âAre you going to see her?â
âEdmond, sheâs going to see Waldron! Canât you just stand by and do nothing?â
Stand byâ¦
His spine tensed, and he clenched his fists.
He could spare Claudia and bless her, but he couldnât watch her ruin her life.
The moment Claudia-rushed into the fire and saved him, he couldnât stand by anymore.
With Waldron leading the way, Claudia followed him to the cottage on the property.
For once, she was not âMrs. Lamontâ, just Claudia.
âIâll show you my family later.â
Claudia thought, âFamilyâ¦
Thereâs something strange about how that sounds.â
She didnât think much of it, just handed him the handbag in her hand.
âThis is a birthday present for your dad.â
Waldron picked up the bag and looked inside. It was tightly wrapped. so he couldnât see what it was.
Waldron raised his eyebrows and smiled, âIâll get them. Youâll give it to him yourself later.â
After saying that, he ran away. His footsteps were brisk, and he was a bit impatient.
Instead, she tensed as she waited.
The Friedan family was the richest family in the city. Their assets were among the highest in the
country.
She hadnât expected Waldron to be so welcoming as to introduce his family to her.
Who was she? She was just a small designer, so how could she let the Friedan familyâs elders come to
see her?
The more Claudia thought about it, the ruder it seemed. She stood up to go after Waldron and ran into
someone head-on.
âUgh!â
The woman was wearing a long purple dress, and because she was walking fast, she didnât see
Claudia.
The wine spilled, and the girl in the long purple dress first sized up Claudia a few times. She hadnât
seen Claudia before.
She attended all kinds of banquets from time to time and had seen all kinds of rich young ladies, and
there were not many she did not know.
Seeing Claudiaâs good-looking but unfamiliar face, she instantly

judged that Claudia wouldnât have a big background. Maybe Claudia was just an internet celebrity.
âThis lady, you ruined my dress.â She pointed to a certain part of her waist, her voice shrill. âRemember
to pay me when the banquet is over. Itâs Haute Couture, only 50 thousand dollars or so.â
Claudia shot a glance at her dress. Coincidentally, Claudia also had one, but it wasnât Haute Couture,
but a regular dress from a certain brand from two years ago. When it came out new, it was only 4
thousand dollars, but now she asked Claudia for 50 thousand dollars!
Just now, it was clear that she bumped into Claudia.
Claudia smiled, looking gorgeous.
âThis young lady, if I remember correctly, you just bumped into me yourself, didnât you?â
âI bumped into you myself? Are you blind?â The girl in purple suddenly stormed out, splashing the rest
of the wine in her glass onto Claudiaâs dress. âIf you canât afford to pay for it, enjoy this glass of red
wine with me.â
Claudiaâs waist was wrapped tightly in a red dress that curved just right.
The red wine splashed onto her body like a dark flower that bloomed around her waist.
Chapter 15 So What?
Many people were attracted by the noise, and they gathered around.
âWhat a pity. Gilda, your clothes are destroyed.â
A sharp voice sounded. It was a girl who held a circular fan in her hand. Her name was Anna. Anna
behaved as if she hadnât seen Claudia. She was just staring at the purple-clothed girl.
Gilda saw that Claudiaâs dress was also stained with red wine. She smiled, and she put the wine glass
aside. Gilda said, âShe canât afford to compensate for my clothes. So, I can only do the ti t for tat.â
Hearing this, Anna then looked at Claudia. She noticed what Claudia was wearing. She said, âHer
clothesâ¦â
âWhatâs wrong with her clothes? Could it be more expensive than mine?â Gilda snorted.and said. She
was a relative of the Friedan family. Because of this, many people respected her. If someone destroyed
her clothes, she would ask for whatever amount of money she wanted and the one wouldnât refuse. It
was the first time that Gilda was refused to be compensated today.
She thought, âShe is just an online celebrity. She canât do anything to take revenge on me although I
bullied her.â
Anna kept silent. She didnât tell the truth that Claudiaâs clothes were more expensive than Gildaâs.
Gilda touched her nails. Seeing Claudia walk away, she thought that Claudia was afraid and left. Gilda
was about to say something to mock Claudia. However, Claudia walked to her again.
This time, Claudia held a glass of wine in her hand.
Under everyoneâs gaze, Claudia spilled wine onto Gildaâs clothes.
Small wine stains became large stains.
Claudia looked at Gilda coldly.
Then, she said, âMs. Friedan, you are right. If you canât afford it, I should do tit for tat. My clothes are
much more expensive than yours.â
Gilda was stunned.
And the others present were all shocked.
Anna was surprised. She said, âMiss, do you know who she is? Her last name is Friedan.â
Here, people surnamed Friedan were related to Thomas. The Friedan family was very powerful.
However, Claudia poured a glass of wine on Gilda.
Particularly, it was at the Friedanâs place.
âHer last name is Friedan. So what?â Claudia wasnât afraid at all. âThere are so many people surnamed
Friedan in the world. Does everyone surnamed Friedan pour wine on others and blackmail people?â
Hearing this, Gilda became angry and shouted, âWhen did I blackmail you?â
Claudia smiled mockingly and said, âYou said that your clothes are haute couture and worth 50
thousand dollars.â
Claudia looked around with a smile and saw that the people around
moved their gaze to Gilda. Gilda gently ruffled the hair on her forehead and smiled amorously.
Anna laughed and said, â50 thousand dollars?â
Gilda was embarrassed.
The people who came here today were big shots. They could tell the price of the clothes of Gilda at a
glance.
Gildaâs dress was indeed not haute couture, and the 50 thousand dollars was also exaggerated. Gilda
did not expect that Claudia would directly say it out.
âI see that this ladyâs clothes look like a certain brandâs haute couture. It must be very expensive.â Anna
looked at Claudia with a smile.
Gilda also looked over.
Before, Gilda felt that Claudiaâs dress looked very familiar, but she automatically ignored her identity
and thought she wore a fake one.
When Anna said that, Gilda was embarrassed.
Claudia didnât answer. She didnât have a decent identity, and she didnât want to be famous.
However, there were many people and someone knew her.
âI remember! She is Edmondâs ex-wife.â
Hearing Edmondâs name, people around were excited.
Edmond was very famous.
Many girls wanted to marry him.
He was talented, rich, powerful, and very handsome.

Edmond was very charming.
Many years ago, Edmond was a pla yboy, rich and arrogant. He was pursued by many female students
when he was in school. Later, after the death of the eldest son of the Lamont family, he suddenly
changed his temperament. He took over the family business and made the Lamont family as powerful
as in the past.
Even though there were rumors of his relationship with Waldron, it still did not prevent some women
from having fancy about him.
The public had always been curious about what kind of woman Edmond would marry.
They wondered what kind of woman could get married to Edmond.
Claudia felt that everyone was staring at her.
âI am sorry. It turns out that you are Mr. Lamontâs ex-wife.â Gilda seemed to have changed her attitude,
but her words were sharp. âNo wonder you behave so tough, but unfortunately, it seems that Mr.
Lamont doesnât like you!â
Everyone knew that Edmond didnât like Claudia and many people mocked her because of that.
Claudia smiled mockingly.
Waldron walked over and said, âWhy is everybody here?â He looked sad.
Waldron didnât find his mother. His brother and father didnât have time to see Claudia. He planned to
find another chance to let his family meet Claudia.
Waldron looked at Claudia and saw the wine stains. He became angry and asked, âWho did it?â
Everyone fell silent.
âWaldron.â Gilda changed her attitude and greeted Waldron.
Waldron looked at her and asked, âWho are you?â
Gilda felt embarrassed.
Although her surname was Friedan, she was a distant relative of Waldron. Waldron was arrogant and
domineering, and it was normal for him not to remember Gilda.
Gilda felt that he humiliated her when Waldron asked who she was in front of so many people.
Waldron glanced at the stain. It was just on the waist. The soaked fabric was tightly pasted to her skin.
The curious gazes of the men around Claudia made him very unpleasant.
Waldron was also a man, so he knew what they were thinking.
He walked up to Claudia, took off his suit, and handed it to her. âPut it on.â
Seeing that she didnât move, Waldron helped her put it on directly.
Seeing this, some people even wanted to scream.
They thought, âIsnât Waldron Edmondâs boyfriend?
Why does he care so much about Edmondâs ex-wife?â
Gilda was even more confused. Before she could think clearly, Waldron looked at her and asked, âDid
you do it?â
Waldron saw that Gildaâs dress was also stained with wine.
Gilda said hesitantly, âIt was her who poured wine on me!â
