Chapter 143 Tell Cicely the Truth
Edmond said lightly, âThe house Ervin gave you belongs to Horace.â
Claudia was taken aback. She hadnât expected that this house belonged to Horace.
Yesterday she went to see that house.
The house was well-decorated, fully furnished, and had a good layout and lighting. She only took a
brief rest on the sofa and felt a sense of comfort. She immediately fell in love with the house.
She always thought it was her brother who gave it to her, but she didnât expect the owner of the house
to be Horace.
Seeing the guilty look on Horaceâs face, Claudiaâs heart ski pped a beat.
Horace probably wanted to compensate her, so he conspired with his brothers to conceal this matter.
But how did Edmond know?
âYou investigated me?â Claudia frowned at him. âI had no idea, yet you seem to know so much. It must
have been hard for you to spy on me everywhere.â
Edmond pursed his lips and remained silent.
Ever since knowing that the Friedan family had a favorable impression of Horace from top to bottom,
he had been constantly sending people to monitor every move of Horace.
It was originally an obscure matter, but I couldnât help but speak it out.

Edmond coughed and concealed his embarrassment, âThe matter of the competition has been settled.
Remember to prepare well and donât let me down with my money.â
Claudiaâs face darkened, her mouth twitched. She wished she could throw the box in her hands at him,
but she restrained herself when she realized that the items inside the box were all unique pieces.
Just then, Abel resisted and said, âIâm not going to kindergarten, Iâm not going!â
âYoung master, we canât delay any longer, or else we will be late!â
The maid, with a flushed face, chased after him in a hurry.
Abel spread his legs and ran, suddenly bumping into someoneâs leg.
He looked up and saw Cicely. His face lit up with joy, âGrandma, can Abel not go to kindergarten? I
want to stay at home and accompany you.â
Cicely gently picked up Abel and said, âAbel, go to kindergarten during the day and come back to
accompany Grandma at night.â
Abel pouted, pulling his little face, looking very miserable.
Seeing him like this, Claudia smirked with schadenfreude, it seemed that only the school could handle
this troublesome kid.
Her subtle expression fell into Edmondâs eyes, like a child watching a play.
Although it is not known what exactly happened between her and Abel, she seemed to be very happy
every time she saw Abel
âsufferingâ.
âHappy?â
stiffen.
At some point, he walked up to her.
Claudia smirked and chuckled, âItâs quite satisfying to see a brat feeling frustrated.â
Although it seemed petty to argue with a child, but who made this little brat trick her several times!
Being bullied by a five-year-old child, what a shame!
Couldnât she bully back and couldnât she gloat either?
Claudia pouted, turned around with a box in her arms. Cicely hadnât noticed her presence before, but
upon seeing Edmond talking to her, she couldnât help but glance at her a few more times.
Seeing her, Cicelyâs face immediately showed astonishment, âWhat are you doing here?â
Seeing Claudia again, Cicely felt a bit awkward. The recent series of news had made her too
embarrassed to leave the house.
First, Claudia became pregnant with someone elseâs child, and the whole country knew that she had
cuc kolded Edmond. Then, there was Rosalieâs affair, which made her wonder if the Lamont family had
bad luck, as none of the women associated with the Lamont family seemed to have a good ending.
If it hadnât been for the positive result of Abelâs blood test, she would have almost been so angry that
she ended up in the hospital.
âCicely, I came over here for some business,â Claudia said without elaborating. Seeing the look in
Cicelyâs eyes, she already knew what she was thinking.
s
For Cicely, she had always felt guilty, but this guilt was slowly dissipating over time.
When she heard her say âCicely,â Cicely paused for a moment.
The last time I saw her, Claudia was still calling her mom, but today she has already started calling her
Cicely.
Cicely knew that some things could never be returned to.
Her gaze turned toward Claudiaâs belly, her expression complicated as she said, âIâm going to take Abel
to kindergarten. Come with me, I have something to tell you.â
Claudia nodded silently.
Inside the car, Abel sat in the safety seat, sitting next to Cicely.
âClaudia, donât blame me for taking you out. Your current identity is really not suitable for staying with
the Lamont family for longâ¦â
Cicelyâs words were expressed subtly, but Claudia understood everything.
Cicely did not want to have too much contact with Edmond.
Claudia smiled knowingly and said, âI know, Cicely. I happened to have something to do, so Iâll leave
first.â
Her hand gripped the doorknob, and Cicely stopped her. âClaudia, I have a few questions to ask you.â
Claudiaâs hand paused.
âDid you really get involved with someone else while still married?â Cicely stared at her fixedly.

Cicely felt distressed at the thought of him becoming a lonely person after her death.
Seeing Cicely in pain, Claudiaâs heart also clenched.
She wanted to tell Cicely the truth, but by doing so, she would most likely have to face Edmondâs
anger.
If he had asked her to keep the baby, she would have been accepted into the Lamont family in the
future, but it is very likely that Edmond would not have let her give birth again.
Because he simply didnât recognize it.
Claudia forced herself to snap out of it, her thumbnail digging into her fingertip, suppressing the needle-
like pain that had just softened her heart.
âCicely, what they said in the news was true.â
The atmosphere in the car suddenly became dull.
âI donât believe it!â Cicelyâs voice was sharp, tearing through the heavy air. âUnless you were pretending
for three years in the Lamont family.â
Claudia lowered her eyelashes, pursed her red lips, and a faint bitter smile appeared on her face.
âIf you could endure it for three days, it would be fine, but itâs been three years! You washed your hands
for Edmond and made soup, brought the Design Department of the Lamont family to the top three in
company profits, endured for three years, and in the end, you left with nothing. I donât believe you can
endure it for three years!â
Claudia remained silent, her long and delicate eyelashes quivered slightly.
âClaudia, after three years of being together day and night, please be honest with me,â Cicely pleaded,
holding her hand. âI am on my
deathbed and I donât want to carry any regrets to my grave. Please, tell me the truth. Donât worry, I
wonât tell Edmond. Let it be our secret, just
between us.â
Claudia glanced at Abel out of the corner of her eye and, before she knew it, Abel had already fallen
asleep.
Seeing Cicely like this, Claudia also felt a bit reluctant.
Everyone in the Friedan family knew who the baby in her belly belonged to, but she kept it a secret
from the Lamont family
In fact, her mother-in-law had always treated her well. She had been proud her whole life and had
never begged anyone like this before.
The strings in Claudiaâs heart trembled incessantly.
Is it okay to tell my mother-in-law, actually?
