Chapter 263 Fear of Love
Upon seeing his grandsonâs expression and attitude, Axton knew that he was determined to be this
third party.
He was so angry that his chest heaved up and down. Thinking of something, he simply closed his eyes
tightly, out of sight, out of mind.
âLooking back is useless, you thought she was waiting for you!â He snorted coldly, âA good horse
doesnât eat the grass behind it. Seraphina, this girl, obviously wonât look back. You, you wonât give up
until you hit a wall.â
Magnus pursed his lips, yet his face showed no sign of wavering.
Whether itâs a south wall, you have to hit it to know.
He pulled up his mask, quickly covering half of his face. The feeling of suffocation came over him, a
hint of indifference flashed in Magnusâs
eyes.
He couldnât possibly wear a mask forever, he would eventually have to appear in publicâ¦
Thinking of Claudia and Horaceâs relationship, a heaviness suddenly settled in his chest. He quickly
walked out of the ward, wanting to get e some fresh air outside.
Just a few steps out the door, a gentle, familiar voice echoed in my
ears:
âMr. Fleming.â
Magnus paused, his body stiffening.
Claudia walked over with a smile, facing him, and sure enough, the man was wearing a mask again.
âWhat a coincidence, Mr. Fleming is also in the hospital.â She glanced inside the door, where an old
man was constantly looking out. She guessed this was probably Axton.
The Fleming family was very well-known throughout the Vencumfield business and political circles, as
the members of the Fleming family were all upright and prosperous, always developing alongside the
growth of Adron.
Up until now, the Fleming family had not only become a family with depth, but also very wealthy.
Axton was also a legend. When she first took over the organization, she could investigate anyoneâs
background. However, the background of the Fleming family was like a layer of fog, tightly sealed.
Thinking of his highly respected master in the organization, and then associating it with the relationship
between Edmond and the Fleming family, the answer in his heart was on the tip of his tongue.â
âWhat a coincidence, Ms. Friedan is here too,â Magnusâs voice was somewhat h oa rse, his eyes bright,
accompanied by a hint of starlight and warmth.
She wore a thin coat today, with Vencumfieldâs interior filled with heating everywhere. Her scanty attire,
on the contrary, showcased her graceful figure.
She was already tall with a good body proportion, and this pink woolen coat with a fur collar made her
look even more charming and delicate.
His gaze became distant for a moment, as if he saw her just after graduation, dressed in light pink,
neither vulgar nor flashy, but pure and lovely.
These days, he missed her terribly and desperately wanted to see her. However, when he actually saw
her, he wanted to run away.
His recent timidity was fully embodied in him.
His throat was somewhat dry, involuntarily licking his lips, his gaze deep.
Claudia glanced at him, and thinking of his true identity, felt as if a heavy stone was pressing against
her heart.
Even though they clearly knew he was Edmond, they interacted as if they were strangers, which was
truly ironic.

She pulled out an invitation from her bag and handed it to him: âThe day after tomorrow is my
engagement party with Horace, Mr. Fleming is welcome to bring a female companion to attend.â
Magnus was as cold as ice all over, his slender eyes full of chill.
He glanced at the invitation indifferently, his heart aching as if cut by a knife.
If he were Edmond, he could have torn up this invitation.
But he was Magnus now, he had no reason to refuse this invitation.
Claudiaâs hand, holding the invitation, hung in the air, frozen in a moment of deadlock.
She wasnât angry either, a gentle smile hanging on the corner of her lips. Just as she was about to take
back the invitation, Magnus quickly
took it.
âI will attend on time, without a female companion.â He looked deeply into her eyes, âApart from that
person, no one else is worthy to be my companion.â
Claudiaâs heart started pounding fiercely, but she quickly suppressed it.
Give it up, Claudia, Did you really think he was talking about you?
Even if his relationship with Rosalie was just for show, what about Eileen? And all those other women
he was rumored to be involved with, they couldnât all have been just for show.
The throbbing heart was ruthlessly suppressed.
Claudia smiled brightly, her lips pursed, âWelcome, Mr. Fleming.â
Her laughter bloomed like a flower, gentle yet resolute.
Edmondâs breath hitched, his gaze lightly falling on her slightly protruding belly, his heart feeling
incredibly dry.
The child in her womb was his, but now, she was going to marry another man.
Did she really plan to let her child call someone else dad?
Edmondâs eyes were terrifyingly deep, as if his heart was shackled.
âMr. Fleming, I still have things to do, so Iâll leave first.â
âWhere to? Iâll take you.â
Knowing she was a poisonous flower, he couldnât help but want to get closer.
Claudia slightly lifted her chin, the corners of her lips subtly raised,
her smile lingering like a spring rain.
âI went to the police station to see Tristen. Since Mr. Fleming was so enthusiastic, I bothered you to
take me there.â
Upon hearing the name âTristen,â Magnusâs pupils slightly contracted.
This subtle expression did not escape Claudiaâs eyes.
Tristen was taken to the police station, and it didnât take much to figure out that he was the one who
had sent his own brother to jail.
She had investigated and found out that Tristen had planned to remove Magnusâs org ans. However,
his plot was discovered by Magnus, and he ended up being sent to prison.
âIf Mr. Fleming is troubled, I will go myself,â Claudia quickly added, thinking of his relationship with
Tristen.
She had just been resentful, and had also intended to provoke him, but when she thought about what
Tristen had done over the years, she felt some regret.
âDonât worry.â Edmond looked deeply into her eyes, âIâll take you.â
Claudia opened her mouth, and finally nodded.
The two didnât speak the entire way. Magnus didnât even ask which
police station Tristen was at, he just drove straight to the police station where Tristen was.
Throughout the journey, Claudia could clearly sense his low spirits.
She clearly wanted to take revenge on him, but when the moment truly came, she couldnât bring herself
to do it.
Tristen had always held a special place in Edmondâs heart. After years of admiration, longing, and
respect, the fact that this person had
ultimately fallen to the point of wanting to kill him, the pain must have cut to the bone.
Claudia bit her lower lip, suddenly feeling a bit of pain in her lower abdomen.
âWhatâs wrong?â Sensing her discomfort, Edmond quickly pulled the car over to the side of the road.
Claudia shook her head, saying h oar sely, âIâm fine.â
âAre you hungry?â he asked, âEven if youâre not, the baby in your belly might be.â
Claudia was silent for a few seconds, realizing that she indeed hadnât eaten breakfast yet and it was
almost noon. Perhaps she was really hungry.
After a while, Edmond had already opened the car door, staring at her
and said, âGet out.â
This was the police station, and there were some restaurants across the
street.
After some thought, Claudia finally gritted her teeth and surrendered to her stomach.
She had to take progesterone injections every day now, the child indeed couldnât stand hunger.
She and Edmond had just entered the restaurant when a car also happened to stop at the restaurant
entrance.
âHorace, was that Seraphina?â Inside the car, Horaceâs mother sharply spotted the person who had just
walked in.
Seeing the two people walking in side by side, Horaceâs hand tightened- on the steering wheel, âNo,
Mom, you got it wrong.â
âMistaken?â Horaceâs mother shrieked, âMy eyes are not short-sighted, I would recognize Seraphina
even if she was burnt to ashes. She is almost engaged to you, yet she is dining with another man! No,
open the door, I need to get out.â
âWhat are you up to?â Horace asked in a calm tone tinged with impatience, âWeâre just here to eat, not
to cause trouble. Grandma will be here soon, donât make a fool of yourself in front of her.â
âA joke? Youâre afraid of being a laughingstock to our family? What about when she, Seraphina, was
going in and out with other men, wasnât she afraid of making you a joke?â Horaceâs mother was so
angry that she was shaking all over, âHorace, we are a respectable family, we canât let people walk all
over us!â
Originally, a pregnant woman like Seraphina should not have married into the Ferguson family. If it
werenât for her sonâs affection and the background of the Friedan family, she would not have agreed at
all.
Seraphina being modest was one thing, at worst she was just doing charity by raising other peopleâs
children. But now! She openly cuc kolded her own son! What was this all about?!
âOpen the door! I need to get out!â Horaceâs mother grabbed the back door of the car, banging on it
desperately, âIf we donât catch them in the act today, sheâll trick you into being a father again! If you
donât let me out of this car today, Iâll die in here!â
