Chapter 36 Emilyâs Certainty
The shocking scene scared Elva so much that she rushed over to her
mom.
She squatted down and patiently put her arm around Emily and said, âMom, donât cry. Now that
Seraphina comes back, you should take care of yourself.â
Thomas and Waldron walked over. When they heard Emilyâs voice, they thought she recognized her
daughter.
Thomas held Emily and asked softly, âEmily, our daughter is back. You donât have to worry about her
anymore.â
Thomas looked to Bella who was standing to the side and waved at her.
Bella hesitated for a moment but finally walked over.
âLook, our daughter is now standing in front of us, and we will never be separated again.â Thomas took
Bellaâs hand and folded it with Emilyâs.
Emily stared at Bella.
Waldron coldly reminded his father, âDad, look at what is in Momâs hand.â
Only then did Thomas notice that Emily was holding something.
It was a piece of cotton cloth, empty and a little yellowed, but Emily was tugging on it tightly like she
was holding a rare treasure.
Thomas gazed at the piece of cloth and thought about it. Suddenly his eyes lit up and he hurriedly
asked, âWhere do you get this?â
Elva couldnât tell what it was either, but she thought it had to be something meaningful judging from her
momâs reaction.
The cloth was white, a little yellowed, and looked old.
Elva glanced at Bella.
âIt belongs to Seraphina,â Emily answered, folding the cloth in her hand carefully and placing it in her
upper pocket.
Elva glanced at the cloth again and felt familiar. She had seen it somewhere before, but couldnât
remember it precisely for the moment.
Thomas looked at Bella and asked with a shivered voice, âIs this
yours?â
Bella stared at that cloth and was just about to deny it when Elva spoke, âItâs Bellaâs, Iâve seen it on
Bellaâs desk before.â
Bellaâs didnât say a thing.
It took a great deal of courage to admit that the cloth belonged to her.
From yesterday to today, she had been shocked by the Friedan familyâs wealth. And the three young
masters of the Friedan family dazzled her with their handsomeness.
If she could stay in a family as rich as the Friedan family, she didnât have to be Seraphina. She could
be a Mrs. Friedan!
Bella echoed Elva by default.
âYes, itâs mine. Iâve been carrying this piece of cloth with me since I was little, and somehow it fell out.â
Elva gritted her teeth and clenched her fists as she saw the smug look on Bellaâs face. She secretly
rolled her eyes.
Bella Young, what a gold digger.
Thomas was very happy at Bellaâs answer. âI know! This must be Seraphinaâs napkin. It was popular in
those days to put a napkin on the babyâs neck. I didnât expect that you still kept it after so many years.â
Bella also looked a little touched, âSince I was a child, I knew that Iâm not the biological daughter of my
parents. My foreign adoptive parents didnât make my origins a secret. They gave me this napkin.â
âSo is this napkin the only thing that your adoptive parents gave you?â Thomas asked, âAnything else
such as clothes or shoes?â
Thomas began to interrogate. Bella didnât know what to say for a
moment.
She looked nervously at Elva.
Elva threw herself into Thomasâ arms and pouted, âDad, letâs save these questions until the test results
come out. We should ask Bellaâs adoptive parents â it has been a long time, and Bella must have
forgotten.â
âYouâre right,â Thomas laughed, âAnd I donât think we need the test results. This napkin is evidence that
solid enough to prove Bellaâs identity.â
Thomas had already recognized Bella.
Waldron observed Bellaâs reaction, not letting go of any subtle expression on her face.
Whether or not this cloth was Bellaâs remained to be investigated, but its sudden appearance was
outrageous.
40 Vouchers
There were too many coincidences when looking at the whole thing.
He walked next to Ervin and asked in a low voice, âHave you investigated Bella?â
Ervin nodded, âI have. Nothing abnormal. The timeline matched.â
Waldron signed, âThen all we can do is wait for the test results.â
âExcuse me for a moment,â Waldron pointed at Thomas. âStop him if he makes any impulsive decision.
He could embarrass the whole family.â
Ervin laughed. âDonât worry, I will. Iâll make sure nothing happens until the test results come out.â
Waldron nodded at him. He took the car keys and headed to the underground garage.
Time was up. It was the time for him to go get the results.
Seeing Waldron leave, Elva blinked and she quietly sent a message to Rosalie.
***
It was a beautiful day. After a good sleep, Claudia woke up early.
She was in the house making breakfast when she heard a car outside her door.
Looking through the window, a Maybach pulled up at her gate. Then the door opened and Edmond
stepped out of the car.
He wore a white T-shirt and black trousers. His dark hair was nicely ruffled and flattened around his
forehead, covering the darkness of his
eyes.
Claudia was surprised.
What was he doing here?
He was too impatient to wait for the divorce.
The sunshine shone through the leaves and made Edmondâs face
blurred in shadow.
Edmond glanced at her house.
Soon after, Claudiaâs cell phone rang
âHello.â
Edmondâs low voice came through the other side of the phone, âIâm at your house.â
âDid you have breakfast?â Claudia sounded calm. She continued cooking.
He paused for a few seconds and asked hesitantly, âCan I eat here?â
Claudia laughs softly, âIf you want to.â
Today was the day of their divorce. She had thought through about it, so she was calm when facing
him.
Time could settle everything.
Claudia opened the door and Edmond walked in.
Edmond felt dazzled when he saw Claudia in an apron.
Her eyes were clear and bright. And her rosy lips curved into a smile. Her pretty long hair and beautiful
face made the air in the kitchen gently fresh.
He had never seen her being so relaxed.
In the past, they lived in a villa. She would ask him if he was hungry when he came back late in the
night, make him snacks without waking up the maids, and ask with a careful tone if they were tasty.
Once he came back late and saw her asleep on the sofa with a nutritional guide in her hand.
That was when he realized how she had become such a good cook.
He sat down at the table and a plate of pasta was brought to him.
âI didnât expect you to come, so I put chili in it.â
Seeing Edmond staring at the pasta, Claudia assumed he got stumped by the chili on the pasta.
âI thought you canât eat spi cy food,â said Edmond.
Claudia froze. Thinking back at the time she spent in the Lamont family, she told Edmond that she
couldnât eat spi cy food to cater to his
tastes.
She was momentarily speechless at Edmondâs words.
