Chapter 9 He Already Has a Crush

The call was from Cicely.

Claudia answered the phone call, “Hello, mom.”

Cicely continued in a fret on the phone, “Get back now. I have something to talk to you.”

After a few seconds of silence, Claudia replied, “OK.”

Cicely was the one who took care of Claudia most in the Lamont family. After all, Cicely had paid the

medical and other expenses for Eleanor.

Edmond had wished Claudia to keep their divorce from Cicely when Claudia had asked for it.

However, no one could keep anything from anyone forever. Someday Cicely would know about the

divorce.

It was drizzling outside. And the rain was falling down Claudia’s umbrella.

Claudia folded the umbrella and stopped at the entrance of a villa.

It was a detached villa, so large that it could be considered a small estate. Claudia used to be a misfit

in the villa when she moved in. Nevertheless, Cicely hadn’t looked down upon Claudia but helped her

get accustomed to the new life in the villa.

However, everything was completely different…

Claudia knocked on the door, and Cindy opened the door.

Cindy smiled amiably. “Hello, Claudia. And Mrs. Lamont is waiting for you.”

As soon as Claudia walked in, she noticed Cicely checking her cell phone on the sofa. Cicely frowned

as if she was reading something unpleasant.

“There you are.” Cicely raised her head and saw Claudia. Cicely patted the spot next to her and said,

“Come here.

“I’ve known what you’ve been through, my girl. I’m sorry about that.” Cicely’s eye rims were slightly red,

indicating that she had secretly cried. “It’s Edmond’s fault. He doesn’t know how kind you are. You’ve

helped him a lot. And Edmond shouldn’t treat you so badly. Edmond will come back soon. I’ll let you

two have a talk.”

After hearing Cicely’s words, Claudia felt uneasy. “Mom, Edmond and I…”

“I understand you don’t crave money and fame. And your personality makes you vulnerable. I told

myself not to meddle in your marriage before. But I can’t let you two break up now.” Cicely held

Claudia’s hands tights with tears in her eyes. “Claudia, I cherish you so much. And I’d choose you to be

my kid, not even Edmond.”

Cicely’s words made Claudia feel moved. It was Cicely’s care to Claudia that Claudia could live a better

life in the Lamont family over the past years.

Claudia sobbed. “Even if I don’t want the divorce, Edmond will ask for it.”

In addition, Claudia didn’t know whether she should tell Cicely what Edmond had told her on their

wedding night.

On the wedding night, Edmond had told Claudia that she could have money and status from him, but

not love.

Edmond stopped cherishing Rosalie,

“I know Rosalie is a problem for you. But don’t worry. I won’t let her marry Edmond.” Cicely narrowed

her eyes, with a gleam of sternness flashing in her eyes. “I don’t care about how rich her family is, and

she won’t be my daughter-in-law.”

In Cicely’s thought, Rosalie was a complete paramour, and such a shame for being a woman.

Looking at Claudia, Cicely decided to confess to Edmond that the blame should be on her, not Claudia,

for what had happened that night.

In addition, Cicely would tell Edmond what Claudia had secretly sacrificed for him over the years and

how much Claudia loved him. Cicely thought, “Edmond must be regretful if he betrays Claudia.”

“Don’t worry. I know the dispute between you two. And I’ll settle all the misunderstandings for you two

tonight,” said Cicely.

Cicely’s words didn’t cheer Claudia up.

Claudia pursed her lips, saying in her mind, “We cannot make it up even if all the misunderstandings

are resolved.”

Claudia opened her mouth slightly and was about to explain. Suddenly, someone broke in and

interrupted Claudia.

The person was Edmond,

Unexpectedly, Rosalie was following Edmond behind.

Seeing Rosalic, Cicely stood up abruptly. “Why are you here?”

Rosalie felt wronged and timidly hid behind Edmond, saying in a low voice, “Cicely.”

“Get out!” Cicely showed Rosalie the door without hesitation.

“I brought Rosalie here,” said Edmond.

Cicely shivered out of anger because of Edmond’s words. “Do you know what you are doing? How

could you bring Rosalie here? Are you embarrassing your wife? Let her out. I want to talk to you.”

Edmond turned to look at Claudia. Thinking how Waldron had ruined his reputation for Claudia,

Edmond looked much colder.

Edmond had only doubted the relationship between Waldron and Claudia before. But Edmond thought

his guess was right at that moment.

After all, Waldron had risked the gossip between Claudia and him.

Edmond pursed his lips and looked away.

“Claudia and I have divorced,” said Edmond.

After hearing Edmond’s words, Cicely became astonished. “What are you saying?”

“We have already signed the agreement and got the divorce certificate,” Edmond answered, glancing

at Claudia.

Claudia said nothing but smiled bitterly.

Claudia thought, “There’s only an agreement but no divorce certificate.

I know Edmond wants to put an end to Cicely’s desire for us to remarry.”

Although Claudia had decided not to remarry Edmond, Edmond’s words inevitably hurt Claudia’s

feelings.

Rosalie stood by with a little wicked smile.

Cicely discerned Rosalie’s smile. “Even though you two got a divorce, I won’t allow Rosalie to marry

into our family.”

“Cicely, do you loathe me?”

Rosalie blurted her words as she didn’t want to get bullied.

As a noble lady of the Clayton family, almost everyone tried to flatter Rosalie, and even Cicely used to

like Rosalie.

However, Rosalie couldn’t understand why Cicely hated her so much without a sign. And Rosalie

couldn’t accept the hatred from Cicely.

Cicely couldn’t help sneering as she couldn’t expect Rosalie to say those words.

Rosalie’s question seemed so stu pid that Cicely wanted to cast it aside.

Cicely made no effort to roll her eyes. “Yes, I do.

“You’ve hurt Tristen. And now you’re trying to hurt Edmond. How could I like you?

“You caused Tristen’s death. And now you’re breaking Edmond’s family. Please tell me why I should

like you. Rosalie, you’re so shameless to ask me that stu pid question.”

Suddenly, tears welled up in Rosalie’s eyes.

Claudia was astonished by Cicely’s words.

It was not surprising that Claudia knew that Cicely had two sons. However, Claudia used to think

Edmond’s elder brother Tristen

Lamont’s death was an accident. Therefore, Claudia felt shocked that it had something to do with

Rosalie.

Rosalie clenched her sleeves, looking pleadingly at Cicely. “Cicely, please give me a chance to be your

daughter-in-law.”

“Stop! How shameless you are!” Cicely stood up. “If it weren’t for you, Tristen wouldn’t have died. You

brought disaster!”

Hearing Tristen’s death, Rosalie refuted with hatred gleaming in her eyes, “Cicely, I told you his death

had nothing to do with me.”

Claudia was standing aside, looking grim-faced.

Claudia thought, “Did Tristen die in a fire?

Cicely’s words are a little elusive.

hospital a couple of days ago secretly. Therefore, Rosalie guessed Claudia was pregnant with

Waldron’s kid as she thought Claudia and Waldron had a tryst.

Rosalie thought, “Cicely must lose her marbles if she knows Claudia is pregnant with Waldron’s kid.”

“It’s none of your business. Claudia will always be my daughter-in-law! As for you, you’re always a

shameless home wrecker, trying to break Claudia’s family!” Cicely turned to stare at Edmond with

anger. “If you still think I am your mother, let Rosalie out!”

“Edmond…” Rosalie got frightened and instantly hid behind Edmond’s back with timidity.

Since Edmond didn’t do anything, Cicely’s face was livid with anger. Suddenly, Cicely got so weak and

fell backward.

“Mom!”

Cicely was carried into the emergency room of a hospital.

Looking at the familiar corridor, Claudia started to tremble slightly.

The last time Claudia had been in the corridor, she had been saddened by the news of her

grandmother’s death.

“The blame is on me…” Rosalie wore a sad face. “If it weren’t for me, Cicely wouldn’t have fainted.”

Watching the familiar emergency room, Claudia recalled the day when her grandmother had passed

away.

“Ask for forgiveness?” Claudia sneered.

At the same time, Claudia thought, “Rosalie didn’t feel guilty for my grandmother’s death. ·

Chapter 10 Divorce

“Rosalie, if you really want to atone for your crime, go away and leave my mom alone. She doesn’t

want to see you.”

“Edmond.” Rosalie held Edmond’s hand. “I’m not leaving. You know how much Cicely used to like me.

Someone must’ve badmouthed me in front of her.”

“Go away, Rosalie,” said Edmond.

Rosalie was stunned, seemingly unable to believe her ears.

“I am tired,” said Edmond.

Rosalie looked at Edmond who wore a tired face, feeling upset.

Rosalie didn’t expect Edmond to drive her away.

Rosalie’s face was pale. She almost fell and said slowly, “Then I will wait for you outside.”

Rosalie glared at Claudia and ran away.

Then only Claudia and Edmond were left in the long corridor.

Claudia looked at the door of the emergency room, feeling distressed.

Claudia looked at Edmond and said, “We should have a divorce as soon as possible.”

Since Claudia had had a showdown, it would be better to have a divorce as soon as possible.

Edmond wanted to ask about Waldron, but finally said, “Okay.”

Claudia looked at the man whom she liked for many years, feeling agonized.

They would have a divorce at last.

Claudia wanted to find out the truth about her grandmother’s death, and she had to leave Edmond.

The door of the emergency room was opened. A doctor walked out and took out his mask, revealing

his serious face. He said, “The patient’s head was struck. A slight concussion.”

Claudia let out a sigh of relief.

“However…” the doctor paused for a while and said, “we noticed that her org ans are diseased. Further

check is advised to take.”

Claudia almost fell.

Claudia’s grandmother once had diseased org ans, and she was later diagnosed with terminal cancer.

During the three years of her marriage with Edmond, it was Edmond’s mother Cicely who had kept

Claudia company. Cicely was more likely Claudia’s friend, who warmed Claudia.

Edmond looked at Claudia for a while. He bit his lips and nodded.

The nurse sent Cicely who was sleeping to the ward. Just as Edmond and Claudia were about to walk

to Cicely, Rosalie immediately ran

over.

“Your mom is sent to an ordinary ward. She must be fine soon.” Rosalie smiled and said, “I know that

your mom will be fine soon.’

Rosalie’s smile was weird in the quiet ward.

Finding no smiles on.Claudia’s and Edmond’s faces, Rosalie didn’t finish her word. “What’s wrong?”

“You go home now,” Edmond finally said, “and we talk about it next time.”

Edmond didn’t want to see Rosalie.

Rosalie was upset.

Finally, Rosalie had to nod and said, “Okay.”

If it was the past, Rosalie would ask why. Now Claudia was here, Rosalie was afraid that she would

lose Edmond’s heart.

Rosalie had to nod and pretend that she knew nothing.
