She received a silent message from Garrett that Chris was secured and they were 10 minutes from the pack house. Gia stood up ready to go back to her office and organize some of the paper work when the Alpha's secretary walked in.
"Oh! Omega Gia! I was looking for you." She walked up looking nervous. "I-uh, there is a guest to see Alpha Winters."
Gia's brow furrowed in confusion, "Alpha Winters schedule is clear for the day. Who-"
"It's another Alpha."
"Joseph? I thought that he was-"
"No... it's a new one....a different one."
"What?! Did we get a call or miss an appointment time? How did the gate not alert us?"
"I don't know. He said his name is Alpha Terrant and it is urgent that he speak to Alpha Winters, immediately."
Gia cursed, 'Of course this would happen along with everything else,' she thought to herself. She sent Alpha Winters a silent message advising them to take the car around back, so she wouldn't be accidentally seen, and alerting her to keep her shades on.
"Okay...okay let's go deal with this." She said shooing the nervous looking secretary out of the office. They walked down the hall to the front lobby, where the impressive specimen of an Alpha stood.
He was medium height and strong built with black glossy hair cut in a choppy short style with dark tan skin. He looked to be of some Latino and Asian descent. With his dark clothes and features, he had a distinct punk rocker look, however, his eyes gave him away. They were a dark chocolate brown that glinted and flashed as he glanced around the lobby, taking in every detail and making mental notes. Whoever this Alpha was, he did not only give off the impression of raw power but of a high intellect.
He stood by the front desk, ignoring the group of wolves that were slowly gathering on the other side of the room. Most were studying him with apprehensive looks, others were whispering animatedly about him, some of the females were giving appreciative looks, then there were the few who either looked envious or outraged.
Gia glared at the group, sending a mass silent message to the wolves that were gathered. 'Don't you have anything better to do?' Some of them jumped and turned red, and the others began to immediately disperse once they saw the look on her face.
She then approached the Alpha. "Alpha Terrant. Forgive me, we weren't expecting you. Did you set up an appointment?"
Dark eyes looked Gia up and down, not letting anything get past the blank mask on his face. "No, I do apologize, but the matter I need to speak of is urgent. I need to speak to Alpha Winters as soon as possible."
"Of course, Alpha Winters will be here soon. If you will follow me." She gestured for Alpha Terrant to follow her around the desk to the handsome double doors that lead into the Alpha's library/waiting room. She shut the door behind her and gestured to the elaborate cushy arm chairs. "Please wait here."
Alpha Terrant nodded in approval as he started to walk around the room. Gia was about to leave when he called out to her. "When will he be here?"
Gia paused and turned around a bland smile on her face. This Alpha didn't know, couldn't know if he was referring to Chris as a "he". She made a mental note to make sure to use the correct pronouns, to be honest though the blood pact she made would prevent her from saying anything unintentionally. However, she needed to be careful what she told this Alpha, he didn't' seem like much would get past him.
"He is 10 minutes away." Gia said, giving time for Chris to get in her office and situated.
"Okay good. Are you his secretary?"
An innocent question, and one that she should have expected, but she couldn't stop herself from the flash of irritation that crossed her face. She grinned, "No. I am the Winters pack Omega." The look of surprise and confusion was always fun to watch.
"Omega? I haven't heard that position used in a long time. Last I heard it being used, was maybe two centuries ago?" Gia tilted her head studying the Alpha, he wasn't cocky as most Alpha's, the way he talked it felt like he was intrigued rather than disgusted that an Alpha had promoted someone to an Omega position and that the Omega was female.
"It's closer to three centuries." Gia said with a grin that dared him to contradict her.
He grinned back, "An Omega is like a military officer of sorts?"
He was trying to search out her exact position in the Winters pack. "In the past an Omega has been known as a military officer due to their specific," she paused, smirking, "talents. However, I am Alpha Winters second."
Alpha Terrant's eyes widened slightly as he took in this new information. "I assume there is good reason why Alpha Winters has promoted his Omega to such a position?"
"Alpha Winters pack and land is...." She paused thinking of the best way to phrase this without giving too much away, "Extensive."
A flash of understanding crossed Alpha Terrants face, and Gia grinned wider. He was testing her, trying to see if she would reveal any useful information about their pack. "The Winters pack is quite innovative and well organized, any further questions about our pack will have to wait until you speak with Alpha Winters." And with that Gia bowed her head slightly as a sign of respect and left the room heading to the receptions desk.
"Claire, Please prepare documents for a new Alpha." Claire the secretary looked up at Gia.
"Um-"
"What?"
"I don't know where the Alpha Blood pact contract is; Stephanie didn't show me before she went on maternity leave."
Gia had to stop herself from rolling her eyes. The Alpha's original secretary went on maternity leave a week ago, and even though Claire was still trying to get the reigns of the job; Gia found herself doing a lot more paperwork trying to fix Claire's mistakes. "Okay let me show you."
It took a few minutes to show her where the correct documents were on the computer and to have them printed out. Claire put them in a plastic folder and handed them to Gia.
Gia looked down at the folder and waited to see if Claire could see her mistake. Claire turned back toward the computer and started printing some other reports. Gia cleared her throat, and Claire looked up at her confused.
Gia shook the file, "What? Did I not get all the files?" Claire asked starting to look scared.
Gia sighed, Claire was so scared of doing something wrong that it seemed to push her into making more mistakes. "Claire when preparing official documents, especially a blood pact contract, they need to be placed in a leather cover with a pen knife."
"Oh! Right...right." Claire jumped up and grabbed the folder, taking out one of the leather folders and a new pen knife. She put the documents in the folder neatly and handed it back to Gia with shaking hands.
Before she could turn away, Gia grabbed one of her hands. "Claire, It is okay." She said calmly, "You don't have to bow and scrape like before. Just do the tasks slowly so you get them down." Gia gave her an encouraging smile, and Claire nodded taking a breath. Her hands became more steady. Gia nodded to her and turned away heading to Alpha Winters office with the leather folder.
Claire was in the same pack as Gia, before they were liberated by the Winters pack. What they did to women in their old pack was....well it wasn't something that you can't easily come back from.
She shook her head as she approached the office door. A simple plaque was on the dark wood which read Alpha Winters. She knocked and immediately opened the door without waiting for an answer. Alpha Winters was sitting at her desk, still in the clothes she left in, pouring over a few files that Garrett had brought her. She didn't look up when Gia approached the desk.
"Guest?" Chris said to Gia, flipping through some of the papers.
"Uninvited guest." Gia said putting the leather folder in front of Chris.
Chris opened the folder and started signing her side of the contract. "How did he get past the gate?"
"I don't know."
"Garrett, find out." Garrett grunted and immediately pulled out his cell phone.
Chris pulled the last page out signing the document and then putting her thumb in her mouth she bit down with her canine. She didn't whimper or make any noise as she drew blood; taking her thumb out she pressed down on paper leaving a bloody imprint.
A blood pact, such as this, was a contract made between wolves signed in blood. The magic in the blood binds those who agree to the contract. To keep Alpha Winters identity secret she has signed a blood pact with every single member of her pact and any visiting wolves. No one is allowed to see her without first signing the blood pact. The Alpha Blood contract is a little different compared to a New Member blood contract. It basically says that any information divulged while meeting Alpha Winters is considered secret and cannot be shared with anyone in any form including spoken word in any language, writing, sign language, or technological form. The punishment to intentionally break a signed blood pact without it being released is death. If someone breaks a blood pact intentionally the magic in their blood will begin to pull out of their veins until they die a really slow, painful, and bloody death. Which is the reason they are not used often in normal packs.
Chris looked up at Gia, and handed the leather folder. "You said it was Alpha Terrant? Isn't he the pack directly south of us?"
"Yes," Garrett said hanging up the phone. He picked up a file on the edge of her desk and pushed it in front of her. "This is the report from Charlie team."
Gia turned and headed to the door that adjoined to the Alpha's waiting room with the Alpha's office.
As she entered Alpha Terrant looked up. "Is he ready for me?"
Gia walked over and handed him the file, "Before you can meet Alpha Winters you have to sign some documents."
A flash of frustration crossed his face as he accepted the leather folder; he quickly schooled his features and gave a strained smile, "Of course."
Gia pulled out a fountain pen from her pocket and placed it on top of the file. Be sure you read over everything carefully. Most of the documents are binding." Alpha Terrant nodded and taking the pen he opened the file. Gia left him to it, reentering Alpha Winters office. Alpha Winters was sitting back in her chair with a print out from the file in front of her.
"Trawley is back," she tossed the paper down on the desk, a fuzzy picture of a man, obviously taken from some distance. "And he is raising an army." She picked up another paper with different numbers and statistics, "A large army.....of rogues?"
"Is that even possible?" Gia asked coming closer to the desk.
Chris pushed away from the desk her silver blond hair glinting as she walked around the desk and started pacing up and down the room, "It's not like he hasn't done it before."
"There is evidence that Trawly might have a supporter." Garrett said leaning against the desk, watching as Chris walked back and forth.
Chris paused in her walking, "What do you mean? He isn't a rogue?"
Garrett shrugged, "He has to be some sort of Alpha bloodline, otherwise he couldn't lead a group of wolves either way."
Chris's brow furrowed and she started pacing again. The door leading into the office from the waiting room opened and shut quickly. A very scared looking Claire was breathing hard as she pressed her back to the door, as if to stop someone from coming in.
"I-Uh... Alpha... Uh- He... I mean Alpha T-t-terrant. He isn't happy." Garrett immediately walked around the desk and tried to pull Claire away from the door.
"NO!" She gripped the door desperately, "He said he was going to break in. Alpha you need to hide."
Chris looked slightly amused as she walked over to Claire and calmly pulled her from the door and to the soft couch in front of her desk, "Thank you for being so proactive in hiding my identity, Claire, but I will not go hide because a big bad wolf thinks he can break into my office." Garrett was watching the door as Gia approached it, "Gia I think I will take care of this."
"No, Chris. We can't guarantee that he signed the blood pact. I will take care of this." Gia looked over at Garrett, who nodded solemnly. A small glint of power flashed across her eyes and her wolf howled at the challenge.
Alpha Winters smirked and returned her attention to a shaky Claire. As Gia opened the door Chris sent a silent message to Gia, 'Please don't kill him.'
