Auntie Agnes shouted, âItâs pointless even if you want to take on the responsibility. The shirt is so dirty now!â
Wendy Liam, who was holding the shirt silently in a corner, suddenly burst into tears.
Eudora George frowned and said, âMiss Liam, Auntie Valerie is wrong. She shouldnât have thrown the shirt away. Iâll apologize on behalf of her for this. But, do you think itâs appropriate to design a shirt for a man who is in a relationship with another woman?â
Wendy stopped crying after hearing what Eudora said.
Her face turned pale. She stepped forward and said, âYouâre right, itâs my fault. I shouldnât have made this shirt!â After that, she began to tear the shirt.
Auntie Agnes grabbed her hand immediately and said, âMiss Liam, the wounds on your hands have not recovered yet. You shouldnât use so much force.â
The wounds on Wendyâs hands could be obviously seen when Auntie Agnes pulled her hand away from the shirt.
Amos Granger frowned and walked over to support her. âLetâs go in and bandage your wound.â
Wendy shook her head and took a step back.
She said, âI donât want to go in. This is not my house. Iâll go back now.â
Wendy made Eudora look like a bad person. However, Eudora was just telling the truth.
Amos did not insist on welcoming Wendy into the house. He turned around and asked the driver to send Wendy back.
All of a sudden, Wendy fainted.
Eudora was so shocked. She wanted to step forward. However, Amos pushed her away. The driver carried Wendy in his arms and asked, âSir, do I still need to send her back?â
Amos shook his head and said, âPlease carry her into the house.â
Everyone entered the house immediately. Eudora stared at her hand that had just been pushed away by Amos.
After a long time, she gave a wry smile.
Auntie Valerie wanted to say something to comfort her as she saw how uncomfortable she looked.
âMiss George, itâs all my fault. I shouldnât have thrown away her stuff.â She said.
âNo, itâs not your fault.â Eudora said. It was not anyoneâs fault. She knew that a conflict was bound to happen as they had a tense relationship.
The doctor came immediately. After examining Wendy, he said, âMiss Liam is too tired. Also, sheâs emotionally overwhelmed. She should rest more. And try to avoid angering her further!â
The servant nodded her head and looked at Amos.
âMiss Liam did not sleep well recently because she was busy designing the shirt for you. I didnât expectâ¦â
Amos frowned and said, âPlease go out now!â
â¦
Auntie Agnes handed the shirt to Auntie Valerie and said, âPlease wash this shirt.â
However, Eudora stopped her.
She said, âPlease wash the shirt yourself.â
Auntie Agnes was unhappy. She said, âYou threw the shirt away. Why donât you wash it? Also, I have to take care of Miss Liam!â
âYeah, we threw the shirt away. But, Iâve also told you that she shouldnât design this shirt for Amos. So, why do we need to wash the shirt?â
Both of them were about to argue again, Auntie Valerie interrupted and said immediately, âMiss, forget about it. Iâll wash the shirt.â
âNo way!â Eudora said.
Kind people would always be bullied. She used to be a kind person. Therefore, she had always been bullied. She understood this since a long time ago.
âOkay, Iâll wash it myself then. Since Sir is taking care of Miss Liam anyway!â Auntie Agnes said with a grin.
She was deliberately provoking Eudora. Auntie Valerie frowned and said, âMiss, do you want me to ask Sir to come out of the room? Itâs already quite late.â
âNo!â Eudora shook her head and said, âHe will come out when he wants to.â
Otherwise, she did not see a point if she forced him out.
After that, Eudora went upstairs and lay on the bed. However, she couldnât fall asleep.
She was thinking about what Amos and Wendy were doing in the room. Eudoraâs mind was filled with all sort of scenarios and possibilities.
She was tossing and turning around. All of a sudden, she remembered Amos had suffered rashes when Samantha Cooper touched him the last time.
Would something bad happen to Amos again? Eudora got up and went downstairs immediately.
â¦
Downstairs.
Wendy suddenly had a nightmare. It seemed that she was dreaming about that horrible experience. It was hard for her to get out from the dream.
Amos called out her name immediately, âWendy!â
However, Wendy couldnât wake up. She kept screaming, âPlease donât hit me! Stop!â
She stretched out her hand and tried to grab something.
Eudora headed downstairs and saw this. She wanted to help Amos. However, Wendy grabbed Amosâ hand tightly.
Eudoraâs heart skipped a beat. She hurried over.
âAmos, are you okay?â She asked.
However, Amos ignored her. He reached out his hand and patted Wendy on the back. âPlease donât be afraid. Iâm here. No one will beat you!â
Wendy finally calmed down. She opened her eyes and threw herself into Amosâ arms.
âAmos, luckily youâre here. I dreamed of that again. Someone was hitting me.â She explained while panting.
âDonât be afraidâ¦â Amos said gently.
Eudora was stunned. She stared at Amos and Wendy as they hugged each other.
Then, Wendy lay back down and closed her eyes.
Eudora grabbed Amosâ hand and asked, âHow are you? Are your rashes back?â
However, she found out that Amos was perfectly fine.
âEudoraâ¦â Amos stretched out his hand and tried to grab her hand. Eudora took a step back instead.
She wanted to laugh. However, she felt a lump in her throat.
After a long while, she asked, âDid you fake the rashes before this?â
âNo, of course not.â Amos explained swiftly.
âOh!â Eudora nodded her head and responded. After a long time, she smiled and asked, âWhen did you discover this?â
âWhen I was in the States.â Amos said honestly.
âWhy didnât you tell me?â She asked.
Amos frowned and said, âItâs just a small matterâ¦â
Upon hearing this, Eudora sneered, âIs this just a small matter to you?â
It was not a small matter for Eudora. She always thought that she was unique to Amos. However, there was one more person now. How could things still be the same?
âEudoraâ¦â
âShould I be grateful that your illness has recovered? Or should I be grateful that there is another person that you wonât be infected by?â
âLetâs stop talking about this, okay? Itâs late now. Letâs go upstairs and have a rest.â Amos said calmly.
Eudora shook her head and said, âNo!â
After saying that, she turned around and walked out. Amos grabbed her hand and asked, âWhere are you going at this hour? Itâs so late now!â
âI want to be alone. I need to calm myself down. My mind is in a messâ¦â She said quickly without looking at him.
âThen, please stay at home to calm yourself down. Is that okay? I wonât disturb you.â After saying that, Amos asked Auntie Valerie to bring her upstairs.
Auntie Valerie came over immediately and walked Eudora upstairs.
Amos pulled his tie away irritably. Then, he sat on the sofa and lit a cigarette.
It was going to be a long and sleepless night.
