Sierra lowered her head and said nothing. She had miscalculated things.
At first, she had thought she could make Rachel give up on Eddison. Unexpectedly, Eddison was looking out for Rachel at all times.
At the moment, she had put herself in an awkward position.
Fortunately, she had fans to help her get out of her predicament.
Someone said, âA friend? Didnât Rachel say that she comes from the same hometown as Eddison? I think sheâs probably seducing him because sheâs interested in his money.â
âYou must be kidding!â
âNo! As we are all aware, he has been pursuing Sierra all this while. Why is he suddenly wooing another girl?â
âI agree with you.â
The girls were all glaring at Rachel from behind. In fact, all of them were into handsome and rich men like Eddison. It was just that they knew they were out of his league, and they knew they were not as beautiful as Sierra. Therefore, they dared not express their feelings to him despite being eager.
Since they were seeing an ordinary girl like Rachel, who seemed to be shy and passive, doing what they could not do, they were immediately consumed by jealousy.
They were even more indignant than Sierra.
âI always hate homewreckers. Donât worry, Sierra, weâll help you handle this b*tch!â
âYes, weâre here. We must let her know the price of being a homewrecker!â
Sierra pretended to look hesitant, âI donât think itâs a good idea. Rachel isnât a bad girl. Itâs just that greed got the better of her.â
âSierra, youâre too kind. Thatâs why she dares to seduce your man. Itâs a good thing to be kind, but you shouldnât be too kind to such a b*tch. Sierra, stay out of this matter. Leave it to us, and weâll make her pay for it!â
After that, they all put away their bottles, got onto their bicycles and tried to catch up with Eddison and Rachel.
Sierra looked at their backs, and she showed a vicious look when no one was watching her.
She thought to herself, âIâm sorry, Rachel. I had no intentions of harming you, but you really have it coming now. Youâve snatched what belongs to me. I have nothing left now. Eddison will be mine!â
â¦
Rachel and Eddison arrived at the meeting place they had chosen prior to their departure. After parking her bicycle, Rachel opened her bag.
âI guess everyone must be hungry. Letâs spread the picnic mat on the ground and place the food on it. They can eat the food at once when they arrive.â
Seeing that she was dripping with sweat, Eddison patted the ground by his side, telling her to sit there.
âTake a rest first. Thereâs no hurry.â
Rachel smiled and said, âIâm not tired. Weâre all classmates, so we should take care of each other.â
He looked at her smiling face. Her smile was like the sun, beaming brightly. She kept saying that she wanted to be strong and not soft-hearted.
However, her innate gentleness and kindness couldnât be changed. Although she was unfamiliar with the other students, she still chose to be tolerant and friendly to them subconsciously.
That was what made Rachel who she was!
He got up and said, âOkay! Give me an empty basin. Iâll get some water over there!â
âThen, Iâll get some food. Iâve brought a lot with me.â
As they were busy, the rest of the club members had come one after another. One of them took the lead to walk straight to Rachel after they had parked their bicycles.
Rachel thought that she was thirsty and wanted to drink some water, hence she offered her a new bottle, saying, âYou can have this!â
In the next second, the girl raised her hand and knocked the bottle out of her hand.
âQuit pretending, you shameless woman!â
Rachel was perplexed as she asked, âWhat do you mean?â
âWell, do you really need me to explain myself? Werenât you seducing Eddison along the way here?â
Rachel understood the situation at once. It turned out that they were jealous of her.
She found it a little funny as she retorted, âYouâre being ridiculous, so I have nothing to say to you.â
Bianca had once told her that she shouldnât argue too much with other people because doing so would not only damage her prestige and image, but also make it easier for her to lose her temper.
It was not worth it for her to quarrel with such a nobody.
Being ignored, the girl was exasperated. Then, the other classmates behind her came forward as well. They gathered together at the other side and kept talking about Rachel, insulting her.
Rachel had no idea that they were gossiping about her.
She kept herself busy by preparing her own picnic mat. As for the ones that she had prepared for the other classmates, she no longer paid them any attention.
When Eddison came back with the water, he saw that his classmates had separated into two groups, sitting at two different sides. A group of students were gathered on one side whereas Rachel was sitting alone on the other side.
The students were all enthusiastic when they saw him coming.
âCome here, Eddison. Weâve reserved a place for you.â
He was flummoxed by the strange atmosphere, so he asked, âWhatâs going on? Didnât Rachel say that she wanted to prepare lunch for everybody?â
Then, everyone stared at her with scornful looks, âDonât be fooled by her delicate appearance. She must have ulterior motives.â
âThatâs right, Eddison. Not everyone is as kind as Sierra.â
Upon hearing their words, he couldnât help but frown.
âI donât know what happened between you all, but Rachel isnât the kind of person you all are talking about!â
âEddison-â
Everyone still wanted to persuade him into leaving Rachel behind, but he had already walked towards her.
Rachel was eating lunch alone as she paid those students no mind.
When she heard the conversation between Eddison and the others, all she did was cast them a glance. After that, she continued to ignore them before hearing footsteps coming towards her.
As soon as she raised her eyes, she saw Eddison sitting opposite her.
âIâll eat with you!â
Rachel swallowed the food in her mouth as she replied, âIâm fine. You donât have to worry about me. Since weâre out on a trip, we should not be bothered by small matters and just have fun.â
Eddison said with a straight face, âThatâs not it!â
âYouâre just more important.â
The earnestness in his eyes and the sincerity in his tone were incredibly touching.
Rachel felt a lump in her throat, and her eyes instantly misted over.
She hurriedly turned her head away, retorting, âSince when did you learn to be such a smooth talker?â
âIâm not a smooth talker. Didnât I promise you that I would stand by your side at all times?â
Rachel lowered her head, and a teardrop fell on the picnic mat.
Eddison had no idea what to do. In the end, he stretched his hand out and caressed her head.
The people on the opposite side were quite far away from them, so they could not hear the conversation between them clearly. However, they noticed him stroking her head.
The girls were eaten up with jealousy again.
âI told you that sheâs a b*tch. Did you see that? Sheâs so good at seducing men.â
âSierra, you canât be soft-hearted this time. This afternoon, we must teach her a lesson!â
âYes, we shouldnât let her get away with this.â
Sierra kept quiet. She was thinking about Eddisonâs expression when he had been talking to Rachel just then. The thought of that filled her with horror.
The tenderness and affection in Eddisonâs eyes just then had never appeared when he was with her.
She began to doubt whether he had ever truly liked her.
However, she soon shook her head and banished that thought from her mind.
Regardless of whether he used to like her or not, he wasnât allowed to like any other girl other than her. Otherwise, she would have nothing left!
