After Wendy left Clearwater Bay, she made a phone call to Caleb.
Sure enough, Caleb stayed true to his words and injured Cola.
Wendy was fuming mad, âItâs just a dog. Why did you hurt it? The d*mn dog now barks crazily at me whenever it sees me.â
However, Caleb responded with a laugh. Wendy frowned and asked, âWhat are you laughing at?â
âWhat do you think I am laughing at?â Caleb cackled even more hysterically.
âI was the one who injured the dog yet it keeps barking at you. Donât you realize that it could smell my scent on you?â
Wendyâs heart skipped a beat. She sniffed her body subconsciously and could really smell Calebâs scent on her.
That night, she didnât sleep a single wink. When she woke up in the morning, she went straight for an aromatherapy massage.
After she was done, she came out of the massage parlor and was in a better mood.
However, as soon as she came out, she saw a familiar figure standing by the side of the road. Wendy rubbed her eyes, squinted closer, and soon felt as if her whole being had been struck by lightning.
âEudora George? What is she doing here?â
She couldnât care about anything else. Even the massage that she had just done was thrown to the back of her head. Wendy quickly dialed Calebâs number.
However, Caleb refused to answer the phone. Wendy was both afraid and angry, so she took a cab to Calebâs place.
As soon as she pushed the door open, she saw Caleb leaning against the couch. A half-naked woman was straddling on top of him with her hands roaming all over his chest.
The two of them saw Wendy enter, but they did not respond at all. They merely continued with their activity.
Wendy frowned and glared at the woman. âGet out!â
The woman pouted and threw herself into Calebâs arms. âSheâs asking me to leave. Who does she think she is?â
Caleb stretched his hand out and caressed the womanâs bare back. âYou should go. I will look for you tonight.â
âAlright!â The woman perked up and went out with her hips swaying.
After the woman left, Caleb stood up and put his arms around Wendyâs shoulder. âWhatâs wrong? Youâve driven my woman out the first thing you arrive. Do you miss me?â
As he spoke, his lips were pressed on Wendyâs earlobe, and he started kissing it.
Wendy pushed him away in haste. âIâm here to ask you something. Whatâs up with Eudora George? Didnât you tell me that she would never come back? Why did I bump into her today?â
In contrast with Wendyâs anxiety, Caleb was as calm as the sea. He was unaffected by Eudoraâs sudden appearance.
His hands were still busy wandering along Wendyâs back. Absentmindedly, Caleb said, âReally? So what? You are Amosâ fiancee now. What are you afraid of?â
âWhat fiancee? Itâs been five years. I cannot even get past his dog. How could we get married?â
Caleb snorted and slowly curled his fingers on Wendyâs back. âDo you still intend to marry him?â
Wendy felt bothered, annoyed, and inexplicably angry. âWhat does it have to do with you?â
Calebâs eyes darkened. âB*tch, who gave you the right to talk to me like this?â
Wendy was stunned and clenched her teeth.
âAm I wrong?â
Caleb was stunned. He grabbed Wendyâs hand and pressed her down on the couch roughly. âIt seems that I have not taught you a lesson for too long.â
After that, he began to take her clothes off.
No one knew where Wendyâs strength came from, but she suddenly raised her hand.
With a loud smack, she planted a slap right across his cheeks.
Caleb stopped and glared at Wendy with his dark, humorless eyes.
âArgh⦠How dare you hit me?â
Wendy gritted her teeth. âWhy canât I hit you? Itâs clear that you had messed up, and Eudora is back. She is back, do you hear me?â
However, before Wendy could finish her words, she felt her scalp go numb. Caleb had grabbed her hair and threw her off the couch, bellowing at her.
âGet out! Since you care so much about Amos, I will kill you if you ever look for me again!â
Wendy was stunned. After a while, she hurriedly got up, gathered her things and left.
After coming out of Calebâs place, Wendy suddenly realized that she had lost her one and only support.
After tidying herself up, she went to Clearwater Bay again. But just like the day before, she was still chased by Cola although she had gone for an aromatherapy massage. Auntie Valerie finally couldnât help but said, âMiss Liam, youâd better not come anymore! Cola does not welcome you.â
Wendy snorted. After leaving Amosâ place, her mind was filled with Eudoraâs face.
She was unsure if Amos knew that Eudora was back. If he knew, he would fall for her again, wouldnât he?
Wendy immediately called Amos Granger. âAmos, letâs have lunch together!â Wendy said.
Amos was silent for a moment. âNo, thank you!â
Wendy added, âAmos, I know a restaurant near Valiant East. Letâs just have a meal. I have something very important to tell you.â
Amos had no choice but to agree.
They arrived at the restaurant and ordered their food. Wendy said, âAmos, we havenât had a meal together for so long. Iâm very happy.â
Amos did not respond but merely asked, âDidnât you say you have something important to tell me?â
Wendy clenched her fists. It was not an illusion. Even though Amos had agreed for her to be his fiancee, he had never changed. He had always been so cold to her.
While the waiter was busy laying down the cutlery on the table, she replied carelessly, âOh, itâs not a big deal. But today I happened to see a person who looks exactly like Eudora.â
Amosâ fingers paused for a moment, but they soon returned to normal. âIs that so? But sheâs dead, isnât she?â
Amos asked in return.
Wendy stared at Amos for a long time, but she didnât sense anything unusual. She breathed a sigh of relief in her heart. âYes, but I always think of her. Sheâs still so young, and yet sheâs gone. What a pity.â
Speaking of this, Wendy pretended to be guilty. âItâs all my fault. If I hadnât been so insecure and made such a condition with you at that time, Miss George wouldnât have left, and she wouldnât have died.â
Amos looked calm and kept eating as if he didnât hear her at all.
As for Wendy, she stopped pretending when she found that Amos paid her no attention.
âAmos, have a taste of this.â
But Amos had already put down his cutlery, âIâm full. Iâll be going now. Did you drive here? Otherwise, Iâll call someone to pick you up.â
Wendy hurriedly spoke, âBut thereâs still food left. Why donât you keep me company for a little longer?â
âI donât have time. Thereâs a meeting to attend.â
After providing a curt explanation, Amos left.
Looking at the food on the table, Wendy suddenly lost her appetite.
No, she had to think of a way. Five years had passed, and she had been telling herself that she still had plenty of time. But now that Eudora was back, she realized that time was running out for her.
Now even Caleb was done with her. If she lost Amos as well, she would have nothing left.
However, there was a big catch. How was she going to get started?
It was obvious that Amos didnât trust her as much as before. Whenever he looked at her, Wendy always felt that he seemed to be able to see right through everything.
Therefore, Wendy dared not put on her antics as often in front of Amos now.
