âOh, thatâs what you said!â the man laughed. âIf you really feel sorry, itâs still not too late, you can treat me to dinner.â
Eudora George said apologetically, âSorry, Iâm afraid I donât have time tonight.â
It was quite late, and Eudora had to go back to prepare dinner for Amos Granger. This was her job and duty as his lover.
âItâs okay!â the man replied nicely. âWhen you work at the company, we will have plenty of opportunities.â
âThank you!â Eudora said sincerely.
Just as he was about to leave, the man added, âMy name is Christopher Gellert. Donât forget it.â
Eudora nodded vigorously.
In the evening, Eudora prepared a candlelight dinner.
When Amos came back, he saw the little woman sitting in the dim candlelight, her eyes shining.
He walked over and kissed her on the top of her head. Only then did Amos ask, âDid something good happen?â
âYes!â Eudora nodded with a smile. âIâve found a job.â
âIs it about Gellert familyâs Everpeace?â Amos asked flatly, maintaining his posture.
Eudora nodded quickly, and she couldnât help feeling happy in her heart. âI used to work there, this time Iâm still in the same position. Iâm sure I can do itâ¦â
Sure enough!
Although Amos had already known the little fox intended to escape, it was still uncomfortable to hear her say so outright.
Amos frowned and said coldly, âYouâre not allowed to go.â
Eudoraâs happy expression froze. âWhy?â
âThereâs no reason. Iâm telling you not to go,â Amos said.
The disappointment in her eyes was apparent, so Amos added, âClint has already arranged for you to be my assistant. You can go to work tomorrow.â
His assistant?
Eudora finally realized that he had been humoring her. He treated her like a little pet and teased her. Amos had never thought her worthy of freedom and respect.
Therefore, he had only given her an assistant job so that she could work with him 24 hours a day.
In the end, she was still losing herself, just like when she was in Meyer family.
âI wonât go!â Eudora stated firmly.
This was the first time she had spoken to Amos in such a tone.
âBe good, donât lose your temper!â Amos reached out to touch her hair but Eudora pushed him away. âI donât have a temper. Iâm just expressing my opinion. I want to work for myself, not be your assistant.â
âIs there any difference?â Amos frowned. He gave her a job just as she wanted.
âOf course thereâs a difference!â Eudoraâs chest heaved violently. âI want to realize my self-worth, not be a pet following you around forever!â
Amosâ eyes darkened. âIsnât your self-worth attained by staying by my side and performing your responsibilities? Whatâs wrong? Have you forgotten that in just a few days?â
Hearing this, Eudoraâs heart sank.
After a long time, she finally gave a wry smile. âYes, so Iâm just a pet that always stays by your side? I forgot! Iâm sorry.â
Eudora bowed to Amos stiffly and sat back at the table. âMr. Granger, letâs have dinner!â
Amos frowned. âMr. Grangerâ, how very harsh.
He pulled his collar and said, âI donât want to eat anymore!â
He went straight upstairs.
As soon as he slammed the door, he heard a suppressed sob from the living room. He frowned, he knew he had been too harsh on her and regretted it.
It was an emotion that he hated very much. In his 20 plus years of life, he had never felt regret. But now, when he was caught off guard, it appeared.
He lit a cigarette and took a few puffs, but only grew more annoyed.
He put out the cigarette butt and returned downstairs.
Eudora was still sitting where he left her. Amos walked over and pulled her up. Before she could react, he lowered his head and blocked her lips.
He stopped all of her sobbing.
Maybe it was because of his words just now, but Eudora did not even resist. She just stood there and let him do whatever he wanted.
Looking at the little womanâs doll-like expression, Amos felt a stab in his heart. He relaxed his grip and gently kissed the tears on her cheeks. Finally, he held her in his arms.
He pressed her ears close to his chest.
âIâm sorry.â The words resonated right out of him.
Eudora burst into tears at his apology. She pounded him on the chest a few times. âBastard, big bad guy, demon!â
Amos was not angry. He let her curse. Finally, he watched her lie on his chest and shed tears and snot into his clothes.
When the little woman finally calmed down, he breathed a sigh of relief.
âStupid woman,â Amos said.
âYouâre the stupid one!â Eudora retorted. Amos couldnât help but smile at that. âDo you really think so? Then youâd better not work for the Gellert family!â
âWhatever, Iâm not going!â Eudora said moodily. Then she perked up.
âWhat did you say? The Gellert family?â Eudora asked.
âDidnât you say you didnât want to?â Amos said.
âIâm going!â Eudora became anxious. However, Amosâ face was cold and he turned away.
In a hurry, Eudora rushed up and hugged his waist. âDonât go, Amos! I promise that I will come back in time every day. Although Iâll have to work, nothing will change, itâll be just like before!â
Amos narrowed his eyes. âYou wonât call me Mr. Granger anymore?â
Eudora shook her head hurriedly, and her soft lips moved back and forth on his back. Amosâ whole body froze, and he turned around and pressed her onto the sofa.
After a passionate night, Eudora got up early the next day.
When Amos went downstairs, she was already humming a song to make breakfast. âI asked Clint, he said that you like to eat these. I have cooked a lot. After you eat it, you can just put the dishes there. Wait for me to come back and wash them.â
After that, she picked up her bag and turned to leave.
Today, she was radiant in her work dress, which accentuated her beautiful figure and attracted a lot of attention.
After she finished speaking, she didnât even look at him and was ready to leave.
He furrowed his brows. âHmm?â
Upon hearing this, Eudora turned around and saw the man pointing at her lips.
She turned back and kissed him on the lips. The next second, the manâs big hand held her and deepened the kiss.
âOh, my makeup!â Eudora pouted and glared at him. She hurriedly took out her makeup mirror to fix her makeup before she turned around and ran out.
She was in a hurry, but fortunately, she was not late.
Eudora used to be in sales, so this time she applied for a position in sales department.
Christopher Gellert, coincidentally, was her immediate superior.
