Amos had not spoken a word since the two doctors entered the ward.
He just leaned on the bed and listened to Clintâs report patiently. The latter was currently reporting about the video that had been posted online.
âPresident Granger, Iâve found the source that uploaded Mrs. Grangerâs video! How are you planning to deal with it?â
Amos lowered his head slowly, âFind them and make them pay. Send them to the police station afterward! Iâll have them sued for slander.â
âYes!â Clint nodded.
âAlso,â Amos said again, âDonât let those netizens on the Internet get away. I want all of them suedâ¦â
âYes!â Clint agreed. This time, these people had messed with the wrong side.
Doctor Chilton and Doctor Leon were also on thin ice.
Amos had always respected them, but they betrayed him instead.
Doctor Chilton felt that the conversation that Amos and Clint were having was actually meant for him.
Even though he wasnât one to be shaken easily, Doctor Chilton still took a deep breath.
The next second, Amos asked, âDoctor Chilton, how is Eudora?â
Doctor Chiltonâs heart skipped a beat. Surely enough, Amos was trying to scare him!
He opened his mouth but didnât know what to say.
Doctor Leon, who was standing next to him, shook his head, âSince youâre asking, you must have noticed that something was amiss. Are you suspecting that weâve lied to you?â
Doctor Leon was indeed familiar with the Granger family. After all, he had been working for them for years. Basically, he knew their behavior and thoughts like the back of his hand.
Amos frowned and said, âSince you already know, are you still not going to tell me the truth? What happened? Did Eudora even recover at all? Tell me!â
Doctor Chilton was shocked at the sudden outburst and he started explaining everything from the start.
In the end, he sighed.
âItâs not our place to do this, but Mrs. Granger had a point. If she never had a chance of surviving, as a doctor, I just hope to keep the child safeâ¦â
âNonsense!â Amos snapped.
He became extremely terrifying once he heard Doctor Chiltonâs words. At this moment, his eyes were red.
âWho said that you could do this? Why didnât you follow my instructions? Why didnât you tell me?â
Doctor Chiltonâs words echoed in his mind. âWe gave Mrs. Granger a checkup again that morning, but the poison has made its way into her internal organsâ¦â
It happened so fast!
Too fast!
Knowing that Eudora might be gone someday, Amosâs heart felt as though it was stabbed by a knife, bleeding drop by drop.
âYou shouldâve stopped her then! This is too irresponsible of you, donât you think?â
Amos looked at the two people in front of him. He was so angry that he felt an urge to strangle them there and then.
âDo you know? She couldâve survived, but you gave upâ¦â
Doctor Leon, who was next to him, seemed to have thought of something and he said nervously, âDid Eudoraâs condition worsen over the past few days?â
Amos laughed bitterly and looked at Doctor Leon. âYou should be glad that she is just in a bad mood, not sick. Otherwise, I wonât be sitting here and talking to you today.â
Doctor Leon and Doctor Chilton immediately sighed with relief.
Amos pondered for a moment before he said, âYou may leave now!â
Doctor Chilton was stunned and he said, âPresident Granger, since youâre already aware of this, perhaps I could run another test for Mrs. Granger. Iâ¦â
âThereâs no need for that!â Amos shook his head. âYou no longer have my trust. Youâve crossed the line, so I wonât need you anymore. You may leave!â
âMr. Grangerâ¦â
Doctor Chilton still wanted to say something, but Doctor Leon noticed that Amosâ expression was darkening by the second, so he stopped Doctor Chilton hurriedly, âForget it, letâs go!â
He knew Amos all too well. Eudora had always been his weakness. Now, they had crossed the line. It was a miracle that the two of them could still stand here right now.
Therefore, for the sake of their lives, Doctor Leon knew better than to stay. They could still talk to him after Amos had calmed down.
As expected, as soon as they were at the door, they heard a loud bang in the room.
Amos seemed to have thrown something to the ground!
Doctor Chilton was shocked. âThis⦠Thisâ¦â
âForget it, letâs go! If you really want to help, you should contact Eudora instead. Sheâs less stubborn and she has a better temper, so she might agree.â
âI guess thatâs all we could do for now,â Doctor Chilton sighed.
The nurse heard a bang in the room and came running in. As soon as she pushed the door open, she saw that Amos had smashed everything in the cabinet.
The floor was a mess. Not only that, Amosâ wounds seemed to be bleeding as well.
The nurse hurried over and said, âMr. Granger, your wound is bleeding. Iâll help you change your bandageâ¦â
However, before she could finish, Amos swiped a cold glance at her and said, âGet out!â
The nurse opened her mouth, âBut, Mr. Granger, youâ¦â
Eudora had been attending to his needs ever since he was hospitalized. When Eudora helped change the bandages for him the night before, the nurse even heard laughter coming from the room. She never expected Amos to be so terrifying.
âI said, get out!â
The nurse was trembling, but in the end, she was so scared that she left immediately. It was too terrifying!
After the nurse left, Amos calmed down for a while, took out his phone, and made a call. âClint, contact as many specialists from abroad as you can. I want the best! The sooner the better.â
â¦
Eudora didnât see Gordon when she arrived at the Georgeâs.
The yard was empty, and there was no one in the room. After walking around the room, she finally saw Gordon sitting alone in the backyard flying a kite.
It was the place where they had last flown their kites. There were six of them the last time, but now, everything had changed.
Eudora breathed a sigh of relief and walked over.
âDadâ¦â
Gordon turned his head and glanced at her. âEudora, youâre back? Amos is not with you today?â
âOh, heâs a bit busy,â Eudora changed the subject. âThis house is a bit old. Iâve made a lot of money recently. Didnât you say that you wanted to go to a nursing home? Should I arrange it for you?â
Gordon didnât say a word and suddenly laughed.
âEudora, do you remember how I had taught you how to fly kites when you were young? I seem to have forgotten it now. Why donât you teach me how to fly them?â
Eudora nodded. âSure!â
After that, she took the kite and taught Gordon patiently, just like how he did when she was a child. Gordon then picked up the kite and ran.
Only with the wind could the kite fly.
Eudora followed behind. Everything felt nostalgic.
Unknowingly, they flew kites for hours. When it was almost noon, Gordon smiled and said, âAlright, youâve been out for too long. I think itâs time for you to go home!â
