Eudora was just planning to tease Amos at first. However, when she saw the manâs doing, she was a little shocked too.
She thought that Amos would be as stunned as she was.
And she thought that perhaps she should just let it go.
Before she could speak, Amos pointed at the fish and asked, âHow much?â
The middle-aged woman immediately smiled. âNot much, only fifty dollars!â
Amos knitted his eyebrows. âForty-nine?â
Eudora was shocked.
Was he bargaining?
However, the middle-aged woman agreed happily. âIâll give you forty! Take it! Who told you to be so good-looking?â
The man who had just bargained at the stall beside was stunned as well.
But who wouldâve thought that Mr. Granger would be so angry that he didnât even want the fish. He grabbed Eudora and walked away.
âWhatâs wrong?â Eudora asked hurriedly.
Amos didnât say anything, but his expression was dark. Eudora recalled what the woman said just now, and the corners of her mouth couldnât help but twitch.
âDonât tell me you thought that the vendor was flirting with you?â
Amos snorted and turned his head away, ignoring her.
The next second, Eudora held her belly and laughed so hard that tears were about to flow out of her eyes. How could Amos be so adorable? Especially when he looked obviously flustered from the exchange.
After laughing for a while, Amos saw her holding her belly somewhat uncomfortably. Instinctively, he reached out and held her waist for support.
âAre you done laughing? You got to take better care of yourself, okay?â
Eudora stood up with his help and said, âYou misunderstood her completely! She was joking with you! Itâs just grocery shopping! She gave you a discount because she felt that it was fate that you two met today!â
Amos became even more unhappy upon hearing the word âfateâ.
Eudora had no choice but to compromise. âForget it, letâs not go there then. Letâs find another male vendor, shall we?â
Only then did Amos nod his head and the three of them went back. Unexpectedly, when they passed the stall, the middle-aged woman chased after them and grabbed Amosâ arm.
âMy dear, whatâs wrong with you? I gave you a discount, didnât I? Iâll give you thirty-five! Take it! Okay?â
Amos pursed his lips. âFifty! Not a single cent less!â
The middle-aged woman was taken aback, âYou really are strange. Everyone wants a discountâ¦â
Before she finished her words, Amos said again, âI have no fate with you, so there is no need to give me a discount! Thank you!â
He handed the money to her and held Eudoraâs hand firmly before turning around to leave.
Only the woman was left there confused.
After that, they bought the other ingredients in a hurry. Eudora didnât dare to mention what Amos had done earlier. His ways of bargaining were simply too unusual!
She was worried that if she were to continue laughing, Sugar Bun might pop out any second.
Amosâ face was still dark on their way back home. Juju realized that her father was angry. When they arrived home and Amos went to park the bicycle, Juju approached Eudora and whispered, âMommy, youâre in trouble. Daddy is angry! Quick, cheer him up.â
Eudora was flabbergasted.
âYour Mommy is just a girl. Why are you asking me to comfort him?â Eudora retorted.
Juju smiled and said, âBut my Daddy is so handsome!â
Eudora muttered in her heart in exasperation, âYour mother is pretty too! So what if heâs handsome?!â
However, it seemed that being handsome truly had its perks!
Eudora watched Amos enter the kitchen and quickly followed him with a smile. âShall I help you wash the vegetables?â
Amos remained silent. Eudora walked over and flipped through the pile of groceries. She accidentally got pricked by a thorn in the fish while she was sorting them out.
She flinched and stumbled a step back subconsciously. Behind her was the kitchen counter, and she almost bumped into it.
Although Amos did not say anything to her, he had been secretly paying attention to her from the corner of his eye the moment she came in. The kitchen was a dangerous place, so he was really worried if he took his eyes off her.
Surely enough, he reached out to hold her in his arms as she almost bumped into the kitchen counter at the back, âBe careful. You didnât get hurt, did you?â
Eudoraâs eyes lit up. âAre you not angry anymore?â
Amos snorted and let go of her. âYou ungrateful little thing. Were you laughing at me?â
âNo, of course not!â Eudora didnât know where this was coming from. âDonât tell me that youâre still angry with that vendor? She was just joking!â
âIâm angry with you! Another woman just said that they have fate with me, but youâre not even a bit jealous!â
Eudora was baffled.
âBut, it was just a joke.â
âNo!â Amos shook his head and said seriously, âIn my heart, itâs not a joke. In this life, the next life, and even the next next life, I only want to be destined to be with you. No one else!â
Even if they were to separate tomorrow, he had already prayed to the heavens countless times in his heart. In his next life, he wanted to be with Eudora and never to part ways with her again.
Eudora was stunned. She really didnât expect Amos to think so much.
She turned her head away hurriedly, her eyes turning misty. She blinked and murmured, âYouâre really silly.â
Amos didnât answer. He lowered his head and began to focus on cooking.
After a moment of silence, Eudora suddenly remembered something and looked up at Amos in surprise.
The manâs tanned skin looked smooth and flawless.
Feeling chills running down her spine, she hurried over to lift Amosâ shirt.
Amos was stunned and he forced his vigorous heartbeat to slow down. âEudora, stop fooling around!â
Eudora ignored him and continued to caress his waist with her little hand. Amos sucked in a breath of cold air. âYouâre not well. Enough with this.â
However, Eudora smiled, âI just remembered that the lady vendor grabbed your arm. Now that Iâve checked, you seem to be fine!â
Only then did Amos realize that this little woman was checking if he had any rashes.
Because he was angry just now so he didnât notice whether the vendor had touched him. Now that Eudora reminded him, that seemed to be the case!
That vendor bumped into him, but he was fine.
âThatâs great, youâre alright!â Eudora said with a smile.
Seeing her smile, Amos curved his lips and said, âWhatâs there to be so happy about! My rashes have nothing to do with you and Juju! It doesnât matter.â
âOf course it does! If one day I am gone and you meet a woman that you like, you could then be with herâ¦â
Eudora did not think much before blurting those words out, but when she was done, even she was stunned.
Afraid that Amos would get angry, she explained hurriedly, âIâ¦â
In the next second, Amos nodded with a smile, âThatâs actually a good idea.â
Eudora was stunned as she stared blankly at Amosâ smiling expression. He seemed to think that this suggestion was not bad, even though she had always hoped that he would be able to live a good life and find someone who would love him as much as he deserved after she was gone.
But now, after seeing him agreeing to it, she realized that she wasnât as selfless as she thought she was.
