Amos stayed in the hospital for the whole night. Doctor Leon came in the next day to inform him that his condition had stabilized and warned him about the consequences of overexerting himself. He was then allowed to leave the hospital.
When Amos returned home with Juju, he was hit by memories of Eudora as soon as he entered the yard.
He had shared too many memories with Eudora in this very place.
All of a sudden, his cell phone rang.
It was Clint. âPresident Granger, something just happened in the company, and itâs extremely urgent! Could you please come over to the company right now?â
Amos glanced at Juju.
âIâm not free right now! Just stall it for nowâ¦â
âPresident Granger, this is an extremely urgent matter. We need you here right now!â
Fortunately, Juju was feeling much better after talking to Amos the night before. Wesley brought her into the yard and she still seemed calm. Amos then handed Juju over to Wesley.
âPlease keep an eye on her while I head over to the company.â
â¦
Clint hung up the phone and looked at Bethany, who was sitting next to him. She was watching him while he made the phone call.
âMadam Hamilton, Iâve already done the necessary. President Granger is on his way here right now!â
Bethany nodded in satisfaction and then turned to look at Andrew. âAre the board of directors ready? What about the situation at the police stationâ¦â
âDonât worry, Aunt Bethany. Iâve already made the necessary arrangements!â
âGood!â Bethany said with a smile. She then looked at Clint. âAre you ready?â
Clint remained indifferent. âOf course!â
At this moment, a phone call came from the front desk.
âMadam Hamilton, President Granger has arrived!â
Bethany hung up the phone and looked at Clint with a smile. âYour boss is here. Bring him up!â
Clint immediately went downstairs. Five minutes later, Amos was standing at the entrance of the conference room.
Sensing the anticipatory gaze of the people in the conference room, Amos couldnât help but think of the last time he had come here and having shattered Bethanyâs plan to take control of Valiant East.
Would the same thing happen again? It seemed that Bethany was determined of getting rid of him this time.
He turned back to look at Clint.
âWhy didnât you prompt me about this?â
Clint lowered his head to avoid Amosâ gaze and said, âIâm sorryâ¦â
Bethany noticed the interaction between the two of them and she became even more certain that Amos and Clint were not on good terms. She would finally be able to fulfill her own wish this time!
She smiled.
âAmos, since youâre here, come on in then. Your recent issues have created a huge impact on the company. Have a seat so that we could discuss it.â
Amos knew that Bethany was up to no good, but he still walked into the conference room slowly and steadily.
âSince the issues are about me, then I shall take a seat and listen to your queries.â
He didnât seem nervous at all. He walked toward his seat and sat down. Then he said with a smile, âEverybody, please share your thoughts with me. Iâm ready to listen to all of them!â
Andrew suddenly became excited!
He had discovered many of Amosâ mistakes recently, especially with the latest project. Andrew had them all recorded in his notebook!
âAmos, youâre clearly at fault this time. This matter has just passed, and you couldnât pretend that it never happened just because you found someone to take the blame, could you? This project is yours and you were the one who made the orders. Do you know how much impact this accident has on the company? President Steven was demoted previously because his actions were against the companyâs interest!â
Was he hinting that he was going to bring him down with this incident?
Amosâ lips twitched and he said, âIf you insist on saying so, then I have nothing else to say.â
âAmos!â Andrew was getting a little impatient.
He threw all the evidence that he had gathered onto the table. âEveryone, please take a look at these. President Granger has said that he would cooperate with TEM Inc on the day of his return to Valiant East. Itâs been such a long time since he said that, but all he did every day was handling his own family affairs. He didnât even pay any attention to any of the companyâs affairs, even the project that he was in charge of became a messâ¦â
Several shareholders took the evidence that Andrew had thrown on the table and looked at it.
These shareholders were very powerful and they cared about nothing but results.
It was true that Amos had yet to start the project with TEM Inc. Moreover, the progress had been very minuscule because of Bethanyâs interference.
They would surely unhappy if the companyâs profits were not to their expectations.
A few senior shareholders were a little discontented. âPresident Granger, are you going to explain this to us? Whatâs your plan now moving forward?â
Amos didnât say a word, so Andrew continued.
âWhat else do you have to say?â
Amos smiled and said, âThank you for the suggestions. I am now clear of what should be done. Next, I will put all my energy into my work! Weâve already discussed the relevant projects regarding the TEM Inc. You shall receive the results soon.â
The few shareholders seemed convinced. Bethanyâs face instantly darkened. She turned to look at Clint again.
This time, she had made up her mind to bring Amos down and she did not want to give him any chance to stay.
Andrew knew that this was the moment to strike and he said, âPresident Granger, why donât you listen to what Assistant Zuckerberg has to say?â
There was finally a slight change in Amosâ firm expression. He looked at Clint suspiciously, âDo you have something to say?â
Clint walked slowly toward Amos and looked into his eyes.
They used to be superior and subordinate, but now suddenly they were at loggerheads. Everyone else in the conference room didnât understand what was going on between the both of them.
At this moment, Andrew said again, âAssistant Zuckerberg!â
Clint immediately started accusing him, âDo I have to say it out loud? Youâve done enough evil throughout the past few years! Young Master Steven has done his best in the company. However, in order to return to Valiant East, you deliberately exaggerated his flaws and kicked him out of the company. Am I right to say that?â
Amos frowned and looked at Clint.
âWerenât you supposed to side with me?â
Bethany initially thought that Clintâs words were a little strange, but she couldnât seem to figure out what was wrong at that moment. When she heard Amosâ words, she became a little excited as well.
As expected, Clint attacked Amos with the key points as soon as he came up.
Clint continued.
âNot only that, you even tried to kill Old Master Granger for your own selfish desires. In the end, you put the blame on Master Harry after the matter was revealed. Then, you used your authority to deliberately poison Master Harry, making it seem as though he had committed suicide. Am I right to say that?â
Amos remained silent. This time, Bethany felt that something was amiss.
Wasnât Clint talking about what she did? How did he know all of that so clearly?
Bethany subconsciously turned to look at Andrew, but the latter was completely oblivious, and he still hadnât realized something was wrong. At this moment, he was still excited and he almost applauded for Clint.
Was she overthinking? The next second, Clint had already turned around and looked at Bethany.
âIn order to defeat others, you didnât hesitate to inflict harm and hurt others. Are you happy to see other people in pain?â
Bethany was stunned. âWhy are you looking at me?â
Clint smirked and said, âBecause that person that Iâm talking about is you, Madam Hamilton!â
