Charlie was stunned, âThereâs someone here?â
âIn the corner just now, somebody struck the blade out of his hands!â
It was a very strange feeling, and Eudora couldnât explain the situation in that instant.
Upon hearing this, Charlie immediately ran over to check. âNo, thatâs a dead end. Iâve already checked and no oneâs there. Did you see wrongly?â
Eudora shook her head, âCould I have seen wrongly? How did the blade drop out from his hand though?â
âMaybe he didnât hold onto it firmly! After all, we did bash them up pretty hard.â
That was probably the case!
Eudora was just thinking that when Charlie continued, âIâve enquired just now, and you guessed right. The hotel receptionist told me that Miss Tina really is staying here.â
Eudora immediately chased away all the weird thoughts in her head.
âTina really is here! This stupid girl, just watch me teach her a lesson!â
When Eudora left, Charlie took a look at the wrist of the man who had fallen to the ground. There was an obvious red streak there, as if it had been hit by something, just like that time when he had been in Greene Cityâ¦
â¦
Eudora entered the hotel lobby again. The two kids were standing inside as they stared longingly outside. Especially Juju, who was stretching her neck out to look outside with her tiny hand holding her little brotherâs.
At the same time, her eyes were teary, waiting for Eudora to return.
When she saw Eudora, her lips twitched, and a smile quickly appeared on her face as she started to comfort her little brother.
âMomâs back. The game is over!â
Sugar Bun was so excited that he stretched his hands out for a hug. Eudora quickly hugged him for a bit, then let go.
She turned around and held Juju tightly, saying, âJuju did very well, Mom wants to reward Juju with a big hug and some kisses.â
Carrying the two children upstairs, Eudora reached out to press the doorbell of Tinaâs room.
The person staying inside did not open the door at all. Eudora, in a panic, took out the spare room key and rushed into the room.
Tina was holding a knife in her hand, calmly standing by the window.
Eudora felt a tremor in her heart, and quickly called out to her.
âStop! Tina, are you crazy?â
Tina was also stunned, her face a little pale.
âEudora, how did you manage to find me?â
Eudora stared at the knife in her hands and said, âIf thereâs an issue, letâs discuss it properly. Donât do anything stupid! Put down the knife!
Juju also shouted nervously, âAuntie Tina, donât do it!â
Tina took a deep breath, âEudora, canât I even learn how to cook?â
Huh?
The corners of Eudoraâs mouth twitched, âYouâre learning how to cook?â
âYes!â Tina pointed at the potatoes in her hand that looked as though they had been chewed by a dog. âIâm learning how to peel potatoes! Did you think I would commit suicide? I wonât! It wasnât easy for me to live until today, so why would I kill myself?â
âOh!â Eudora was a little embarrassed.
âThen, come back with me! Christopher has been looking for you!â
âIâm not going back!â Tina shook her head. âI already told you guys to not look for me! I wonât go back ever again!â
âYouâre just avoiding the problem! Is there any use in doing this? Aside from the fact that I have no interest in Christopher, did you think that once youâve left, he can just get together with someone else without a hitch? Thatâs impossible! Heâs your own husband, donât you even understand him?â
âItâs precisely because I know him too well that I know that heâll never give up on me. I know that he would give up everything for me! Which is all the more why I canât be selfish! I canât just waste his entire life just for my own selfish gains.â
âWhat do you mean that youâre wasting his time? How many years can a person live? Itâs only a mere few decades, why overthink it? So what if you canât have children? Didnât you two get together because of your own feelings towards each other? Children are just the fruit of your relationship; even if there are no children, your relationship will still remain!â
âEudora, stop trying to convince me already!â Tina had already made up her mind!
âHe may not be able to realize it now, but he surely will in the future! Just like how he had loved you in the beginning, and didnât he fall for someone else in the end? He can do it again!â
âLike Iâve said, my relationship with him is entirely different from yours with him! I had only been with him as a friend, of course it was easy to forget things. However, you are his eternal companion, his one and only soulmate!â
âStop!â Tina covered her ears. âEudora, youâre trying to persuade me, but if it were you, if Amos faced this predicament, you would choose the same path too!â
Eudora was startled. Tinaâs words had made her think.
âYouâre right. If it was in the past, maybe I would have made the same choice as you did. However, I wouldnât now! After experiencing life-and-death ordeals, Iâve finally come to realize that if you donât appreciate others now, you might not get the chance to do so in the future! Do you really want to become like me, to only know what it means to appreciate someone only after youâve lost him?â
Tinaâs face turned pale, âDonât speak nonsense.â
The two were talking when Charlieâs voice sounded from outside, saying, âMr. Gellert, why did you search all the way until here? Your face looks so strange, are you not feeling okay?â
While Eudora was still surprised, Tina had already rushed out!
Looking at her anxious footsteps, Eudoraâs lips formed a smile.
Who had just mentioned about letting go? Was it really that easy for her to let go?
While she was thinking, a gasp sounded outside the door, âChristopher, how do you feel? Youâre bleeding?! Iâll send you to the hospital immediately!â
âThereâs no need!â Christopher answered.
He stretched his hand out and gently caressed Tinaâs cheek, âI was scared to death. I thought that I wouldnât be able to see you again!â
Tina frowned, âWhy are you still saying this at a time like this? Quick, come in and have a seat!â
âNo!â Christopher shook his head and asked, âWill you come home with me?â
Tina bit down on her lower lip, âI wonât go back. Iâve already called a lawyer, heâll take care of our divorce affairs. Youâll have your freedom thereafter!â
âI wonât agree to it!â Christopher creased his brows and raised his voice. By doing so, he might have strained his wound, so he subconsciously stretched his hand out to cover his abdomen as his body swayed.
Tina looked down at his lower abdomen and asked, âWhatâs wrong?â
Christopher did not reply to her question.
He continued speaking, âIâve already told you that I have no interest whatsoever in the Gellert familyâs business! I donât want anything else, so canât we just leave this place and go somewhere where thereâs just the two of us?â
âYou will regret your decision!â Tina smiled bitterly. âThe head of our orphanage used to be like this. She established the orphanage simply because she didnât have her own children. Her husband had also said the same thing to her initially, saying that it was okay to not have kids and everything would be alright as long as they stuck together. However, in the end, he still abandoned our principal. At 40 years old, he found a lady who was younger than him by 20 years, and they gave birth to a son.â
âTo reproduce is a humanâs innate instinct. What youâre saying now is sincere, and I believe you. However, minds can change, so instead of waiting for the regret to sink in in the future, Iâd prefer to stop our relationship at its most beautiful moment. Do you understand me now?â
