Eudora could not stand the boredom as she couldnât do anything in the hospital.
She finally convinced Aunt Valerie to let her leave the hospital.
Aunt Valerie had prepared a lot of good food, but they couldnât finish them at all.
In the evening, Eudora was lying in bed but she couldnât fall asleep. She had never felt this bed was too big for herself.
She took out her cell phone and looked at Amosâ number before she turned her phone off again.
She thought to herself that he might be busy and she should not disturb him.
Eudora forced herself to fall asleep by closing her eyes tightly as she still had to work on the next day.
Someone hugged her from behind when she was in a daze.
His scent made Eudoraâs heart skip a beat. She froze.
His chin rested on her shoulder. She could feel the stubble on his cheek. For some reason, her heart ached for him. She turned around and held his face.
She whispered, âWhatâs wrong?â
He didnât answer her. His lips mashed against hers.
He kissed her passionately and hugged her tightly. If it werenât for him being apart from her for the past few days, he wouldnât have realised that he would be so reluctant to leave her.
Eudora hid in Amosâ arms after half an hour of cuddling. She couldnât fall asleep.
Amos caressed her arm. âYouâve lost some weightâ¦â
âNo, I didnât!â Eudoraâs nose twitched while she quickly turned around.
After a moment of silence, Amos said, âThereâs something I want to tell you. It is about my trip to America this time.â
She had been waiting for him to talk about it.
Her heart was pounding as she looked at Amos expectantly.
âRingggg!â Amosâ phone rang out of a sudden. His face darkened after he picked it up.
He answered, âIâll be right there.â
He got up and put on his clothes.
He disappeared from the room in a split second.
Eudoraâs heart sank, again. She felt that things had changed for some reason.
She stared at the ceiling until dawn.
Aunt Valerie had advised her to rest for two more days at home. But, she didnât listen to her and went straight to the company after breakfast.
Her project was almost finished. It took her a day to finally complete the draft.
She would not have the time to overthink if she was busy.
She saw a rather familiar car at the entrance when she left the company.
The Old Master walked out of the car with a crutch while Eudora looked at him in surprise.
It had been more than a month since she last met him. Thousands of possible reasons of him coming to her ran through her mind.
The Old Masterâs assistant came over to her.
Eudora took a deep breath and followed him.
The Old Master questioned, âWhat is Amos doing these days?â
Her eyes flickered. âI donât know.â
âReally? You are his girlfriend and yet you donât know. I thought you were reliable, so I gave my permission to you to stay with him and take care of him. But now it seems that you care for your work more than him. Then let me ask you, whatâs the purpose of your existence?â
The Old Master was furious. His words were hurtful.
Eudora frowned. In fact, for the past few days, her mood was as bad as the Old Masterâs. However, she didnât want to ruin Amosâ image in the Old Masterâs heart. She suppressed the burning anger in her heart and replied softly, âIâll send him a message!â
âWhat do you mean? Do you really not know what he was doing? Arenât you two a couple? Why did he buy a house in Sovereign Garden?â
âSovereign Garden?â Eudoraâs jaw dropped a little.
She couldnât hear anything afterwards.
Her thoughts seemed to shut off completely. The words âSovereign Gardenâ echoed repeatedly in her mind.
On the way back, Eudora looked blankly at the road ahead. When she came back to her senses, she took out her cell phone and dialed Amosâ number.
No one answered the phone. The phone rang for a long time before it was cut off.
Eudora took a deep breath and turned around and drove towards Sovereign Garden.
â¦
In Sovereign Garden. Amos received a call from Clint last night. He said that Wendy Liam was having another attack.
Amos came over right away. Wendy had been holding onto his hand and refusing to sleep.
She finally fell asleep in the morning.
But as soon as Amos withdrew his hand, she woke up again. The doctor advised him to stay with her for the time being so that she could recover slowly.
Amos touched his forehead as he was lost in his thoughts. The woman on the bed woke up again.
âAmos,â she whispered.
âAre you awake?â Amos tried to withdraw his hand again.
âYes!â Wendy nodded and looked around. âIs this my home in Rosaville City?â
Amos nodded and replied, âTake a look. Do you like it?â
âI like it!â Wendy felt much better after a rest. âCan I get up and have a look?â
The psychologist behind him immediately nodded.
âYes!â Amos answered. He asked someone to change her clothes before they went out.
There were a lot of sunflowers blooming in this season. It was one of the many reasons why he chose this house. Sunflowers was said to be able to rejuvenate a person.
Wendy looked at the flowers with a smile on her face.
She exclaimed, âWow! Itâs so beautiful!â
She picked one and handed it to Amos. âPlease help me to put it on my hair.â
Amos was a little hesitant, but he chose to listen to the psychologistâs advice.
â¦
Eudora saw it as soon as she arrived.
The sun was just right and the garden in front of her was full of sunflowers.
A womanâs smile could be seen from afar. She was standing among the flowers while a man gently put one on her ear.
They bathed under the golden sunlight, like a pair of long lost couple.
Eudora stood there while her body became stiff. It was as if she was paralyzed by the freezing winter breeze.
She brought her knees to her chest after she left.
Her mind was blank and she couldnât think at all.
Amos was back, but with another woman by his side. What should she do?
She felt someone was looking at her and she subconsciously ran away.
When she came back to her senses, Eudora realised she had returned to Clearwater Bay.
When Aunt Valerie saw her coming back, she said, âMiss, you are late today. Dinner is ready. Are you hungry? Letâs come and have dinner!â
Eudora sat there and didnât move an inch. After a long time, she tried to comfort herself and asked, âDid Amos come back today?â
