Aunt Valerie paused for a while and shook her head.
âDid Sir come back home after he returned from America?â
Eudoraâs jaw dropped unconsciously. âOh.â
Aunt Valerie didnât know that Amos was already back.
Suddenly, she heard footsteps from her back. She turned around and quickly shouted at Eudora with joy, âMiss, Sir is back.â
Eudora didnât move from her spot at all. Aunt Valerie came and pulled her up.
âSir, youâre back!â Aunt Valerie greeted him with a smile.
Amos walked towards Eudora with a smile.
âDo you miss me?â He asked softly.
Eudora didnât answer him. She couldnât get rid of the image of him and the woman in the garden.
Amos frowned slightly. âWhatâs wrong?â
âEudora must be elated to see you!â Aunt Valerie answered with a smile.
Eudora lowered her head after she heard this.
Amos could see her collarbones from where he stood. He couldnât help but frown when he thought of her shapely figure when he held her in his arms yesterday.
Amos said, âYouâve lost so much weight. Letâs eat first!â
He dragged her to the dining table and sat down. She had a few bites and put down the spoon in her hands. She didnât have an appetite.
She quickly went upstairs when Amosâ phone rang.
Amos noticed that Eudora didnât eat much after he finished the call. He couldnât help but frown.
âWhy is she eating so little?â He asked. âIs she getting better?â
âSheâs all right now. Iâve asked the doctor in person. Maybe something is troubling her?â Aunt Valerie answered.
âWhatâs it?â Amos asked.
Aunt Valerie replied, âSir, I donât think I have the rights to tell you this. But if you really care about Eudora, you shouldnât have left her alone on her birthday without letting her know beforehand. She had been waiting for you at home. She was even worried about you. She only managed to find out your whereabouts after asking your employee in your company.
That night, she was drenched in the rain after she went to the yard to take her kite. I wanted to stay with her, but she insisted that she was fine and asked me to go back. When I came back the next day, she was sleeping alone on the sofa in the living room. Thatâs how she got sick.
I could tell that she was really unhappy these few days. She even asked me about you right before you came back just now.â
Amos frowned. He regretted his choice instantly.
He wondered why he didnât inform her before he left.
In the past, he had always acted alone. He made his own decision. He was used to it.
However, he had forgotten that he was no longer alone.
Now, there was someone else who would wait for him at home, who would not be able to eat if he was not there, who constantly worried about him.
He took off his necktie and quickly went upstairs.
It was quiet on the second floor.
Amos opened the bedroom door and saw Eudora sitting on the floor. Even her shadow looked lonely. His heart ached when he saw her.
Amos walked over and hugged her waist from behind.
âItâs cold to sit on the floor.â
Eudora shook her head and tried to free herself from Amos.
âItâs okay. Didnât you say that you had something to tell me last night?â She looked at Amos.
Seeing Eudoraâs exhausted face, Amos decided not to tell her first. So he shook his head and said, âItâs not important. Iâll bring you to bed first.â
âNo.â Eudora held his hand.
Amos frowned and said, âI brought someone back from my trip to the States.â
Sure enoughâ¦
Eudora thought of the woman with the smile and her heart missed a beat.
Amos continued, âI thought that she was dead. I canât find her despite searching her for so many years. But for some reason, I found her again. Because of me, she had been tortured and is seriously ill. I had no other choice but to bring her backâ¦â
He explained and looked at Eudora nervously.
âDo you like her?â She asked.
Amos was stunned and smiled at Eudora.
âAre you jealous?â
Amos suddenly lowered his head and kissed her on the lips.
She resisted him subconsciously, but the manâs arms were much stronger than hers. She could not move at all.
Amos hugged her in his arms after the kiss.
âI already have you,â he whispered.
His words gave her so much comfort. But she couldnât help and ask, âReally?â
âSilly!â The man chuckled. His husky voice echoed in her ears.
âYou are the only one who is perfect for me.â
Eudora sniffed and asked, âHow do you know?â
The man frowned when he heard this. âIt seems like I have been away for too longâ¦â
He carried her up in his arms and threw her down on the bed.
It was not until all her clothes were taken off that Eudora realized what the man meant.
Her ears turned red as she made love with the man.
Amos got up and went downstairs after she fell asleep.
Aunt Valerie mentioned about the kite that she had protected on the rainy night.
He opened the door of the storage room. The kite was hanging there. Although Eudora had tried to save it, it looked like it could not be used anymore.
Amos looked at it for a while before he took out his cell phone and took a picture of it.
After sending the photo to Clint, he went back to sleep with the little woman in his arms.
The next day, Clint told him that he had asked someone to order the kite and it would arrive in three days.
Amos nodded. While they were talking, the Old Master opened the door of the office and walked in.
He looked at them seriously. Clint immediately understood the situation and left the room.
The Old Master didnât say a word until there were only two of them left in the office.
âYou finally came back to work?â
Amos frowned. âI never slack off!â
âYou went to the States and brought back a woman. Didnât you mention about Eudora all the time? Whatâs wrong? Have you changed your mind?â
Amos asked, âDid you investigate me?â
âIâm your father. Whatâs wrong with me investigating you? I canât see you repeat what your brother did! I overestimated Eudora. I always thought she was a person who would rather die with honor than to survive in disgrace. I didnât expect that she could accept this!â
Amosâ eyes widened. âDid you look for her?â
âWhy? Didnât she tell you? Well, you can see her true colors now. You have to choose between these two women in the end!â
