Eudora entered the car.
Just as she did so, the driver asked, âAre you heading to the company?â
Eudora shook her head and said, âNo, letâs go to Doctor Leonâs place first!â
Doctor Leon seemed to have known that Eudora would come early in the morning and had already prepared everything.
The two of them went straight to the point without engaging in any small talk.
âHow is Amosâ overall situation?â
Doctor Leon handed the documents in his hand to Eudora. âHis burns cover over eighty percent of his body. Amosâ throat has also been damaged because of the fire. There wonât be any problems for the time being, even if he doesnât get any treatment. However, if it goes on like this, there will be complications. Therefore, no matter in which aspect, I suggest that he receive treatment!â
That was exactly what should be done!
Although Eudora failed to care much about his appearance, she knew how big of a blow it was to a person.
Wasnât that the reason why even a powerful man like Amos had not dared to face her?
âIf he gets treatment, will there be any risks?â
Doctor Leon nodded, âYes!â
That was the reason why Amos had refused to be treated in the first place. The doctor had mentioned that the surgery would be incredibly taxing on his body.
Any mishaps could cause him to lose his life on the operating table!
âThe risks are so serious?!â
Eudora really did not expect the problem to be this serious. She had thought that it would be the same as plastic surgeryâ¦
Doctor Leon, however, told her frankly and cruelly, âHis muscles have been damaged. Itâll be more complicated than an ordinary plastic surgery.â
âWhat about the success rate?â Eudora looked at Doctor Leon expectantly.
Doctor Leon parted his lips and said, âTen percent!â
âI wonât agree to this with a number like that!â Eudora shook her head. âWhy is the probability of success so low?â
Doctor Leon felt troubled as well. He replied, âThis is the best we can do! Even if you disagree with the operation, if complications were to happen, the success rate of the operation will be even lower! Iâve witnessed Amos come back from the dead. My heart has been feeling heavy all this while too!â
Doctor Leon took a deep breath and sighed.
Eudora did not mean to blame him, but she just was unable to accept it.
At first, she had thought that getting Amos back after so much difficulty was already the happiest thing in the world. However, it seemed that that had just been her own fantasy.
How could life be so unfair? Why was their family being tested repeatedly?
In the end, Eudora replied, âIâll think about it!â Then, she walked out.
She had initially wanted to go back to the company, but she had lost all motivation to do so! Eudora called Clint and asked, âIs there anything important going on in the company?â
Clint knew that Amos had just returned, thus he had arranged for everything on her behalf.
âThereâs nothing important. Itâs fine if you donât come in today! Everything in the company is running as usual!â
Eudora was relieved. She called the driver to head straight to the market, âI want to buy some ingredients to cook them at home myself!â
â¦
In Clearwater Bay, Amos was playing with his two children outdoors.
Cindy took the groceries from Eudora and went in. Meanwhile, Eudora just stood there as she watched Amos play shooting with the children.
At that moment, it was Juju who was undergoing training.
Jujuâs ability had improved a lot after training with Leslie.
She had already hit the bullseye several times in a row!
After achieving such excellent results, Juju looked proudly at Amos.
She asked, âDad, why donât you have a try?â
Amos paused for a moment before taking the gun from Jujuâs hand.
After aiming at the target for a few seconds, Eudora clearly noticed the muscles of Amosâ arm trembling slightly.
She wouldnât have noticed it at all if Doctor Leon had not told her about it earlier. She had always thought that Amos just had a few scars on him and that the rest of him was still the same as before.
It was only now that she realized that things had changed.
Juju also seemed to have noticed that something was amiss.
She looked at Amos curiously as she asked, âDad, is something wrong?â
Amos shook his head. The next second, Eudora hurriedly walked over and grabbed his arm.
The next second, Eudora hurriedly walked over and grabbed his arm, âHubby, let me help you!â
Amos looked at Eudora in shock. He thought that she had discovered something, but she was still smiling calmly upon looking at her again.
Seeing that she had not noticed anything, he breathed a sigh of relief.
He asked, âWhy are you back?â
âThereâs nothing much going on with the company, so I came back. Also, I havenât touched a gun in a long time! Iâll have to try it as well!â
Everyone in the family knew that Eudora enjoyed shooting.
With no hesitation, Amos handed the gun to Eudora.
Juju was a little displeased, âMom, I want to see Dad shoot!â
Eudoraâs face immediately turned livid, âWhatâs wrong? Donât you want to play with me? Iâm so sad!â
Juju had always been a child who was adept at reading people. Seeing that Eudora seemed to actually be sad, she hurriedly changed the subject.
âOf course I want to play with you, Mom! Iâll play with you today then!â
Eudora tried to push her luck, âHow can a day be enough? Iâve been really free recently. Since you canât come back often, Iâll play with you every day!â
Eudora looked at Amos after that.
âYou and Sugar Bun will be the judges. Letâs see whoâs better at shooting! What do you think about that?â
Upon seeing her coy expression, Amos felt as if his life had returned to how it had been.
He nodded subconsciously, âOkay!â
Amos carried Sugar Bun to the chair at the side and sat down. The father and son both unwaveringly stared at Eudora and Juju.
Eudora was also motivated. Truth be told, with her amateur skills, she probably was no match for the current Juju .
However, at the thought of helping Amos keep his dignity, she went all out.
Perhaps the heavens took pity on her. Her skills were fairly decent and barely on par with Juju.
Eudora raised her chin proudly toward Amos, âWhat do you think?â
Amos nodded at Eudora and said, âNot bad!â
Sugar Bun, who was sitting next to him immediately gave a thumbs-up to Eudora. âMomâs great!â
Eudora turned her head and looked at Juju, âWhat do you think?â
Jujuâs eyes curved into crescents as she smiled, âMomâs great!â
âThatâs more like it!â Eudora laughed.
âToday, youâve lost to me. Practice harder and donât bother your dad with this again! When you get better at it, weâll have another match!â
Juju nodded, âOkay!â
âLetâs go in! Iâll be cooking today!â
She then went into the house with Sugar Bun in her arms.
Amos looked at his empty hands and then at Eudora.
When Eudora entered the kitchen, Amos followed her. He looked at her back and asked in a low voice, âYou know all about it, donât you?â
