Elaine lost her composure for a second before realizing Eudora had just overheard their conversation.
Suddenly, she felt as if she had been caught red-handed. She nodded quickly and walked away.
Eudora closed the door and then walked in sullenly.
Amos looked at her with some concern, âEudora, just nowâ¦â
Eudora snorted, âAmos, Iâm really disappointed in you!â
Amosâ heart pounded a little faster. Was she angry with him?
âListen to me, I wasnâtâ¦â
âHow dare you say that about me? Am I really that bad?â
Amos was surprised.
âNo, youâre not. Youâre not reckless or anything. I just didnât want to tell Elaineâ¦â
Only then did Eudora reply, âThatâs more like it!â
Truth be told, Eudora heard everything Amos had said just now! In the beginning, she felt a little sad. However, after hearing such a warm confession, that gloominess had disappeared completely.
Just now, she was just putting on a show to scare him.
âThen, youâreâ¦â Amos looked at Eudora.
âThatâs enough. Eat this and I wonât get angry.â
She brought soup along for Amos.
Amos disliked soup, which was why Eudora thought of that way to make him drink it.
As a result, Amos eagerly took over the soup and finished it all in one go!
He did not stop even when Charlie entered the ward. Charlie could smell the fragrance of the soup and he looked out of the window in shock.
âHuh? The sun didnât rise from the west today! How strange.â
Amos rolled his eyes at Charlie, which made him shut up at once.
Charlie had actually come here to report a finding to Amos.
Charlie was uncertain if Eudora should listen in as well, so he hesitated.
In the end, Amos opened his mouth and said, âJust spit it out!â
Charlie continued, âIâve found out where Young Master Vincent is. Weâve even captured a few men. However, Young Master Vincent has gone missing! They said that when they were out stealing stuff a few days ago, he fell into the river and has been missing since. Weâve tried searching around the river, but thereâs still no trace of him.â
Eudora was surprised, âAre you talking about Vincent Granger?â
âYes, heâs the one who stole your things last time!â Amos said.
âIs he dead?â Eudora thought of the young boy. He was so timid but he died, just like that?
âWhatâs going on?â
Amos looked at Charlie and said, âYou should go back first. Continue with the search. Report to me if thereâs any news.â
âYes!â
After Charlie had left, Amos patted his bed and said, âCome, Iâll explain to you slowly.â
In the end, Amos told her everything about how he had sent Vincent abroad and that he had spotted Vincent a while back. He also brought up how he had ordered his men to look for Vincent.
Although Eudora had unintentionally been hurt by Vincent before, he was just a timid child and was not a bad person. Hearing such news, Eudora felt sad.
She was even more affected as she was the mother of two children.
âIf thatâs the case, will heâ¦â
Amos shook his head, âItâs not clear yet, but Charlie will do his best. Donât worry.â
Eudora nodded, âHe has lived a miserable life because of his mother.â
Amos remained silent, but his gaze was constantly locked on Eudora.
Seeing this, Eudora felt a chill in her heart, âWhatâs wrong? Is there something on my face?â
Amos nodded and said, âYou have dark circles under your eyes.â
Eudora was at a loss for words.
âAre you complaining about me again? You just said you wouldnât do that!â
âIâm not complaining, but itâs just that my heart aches seeing you like this,â Amos said. In reality, he knew that she tried to put on a happy expression every day.
He failed to fully understand what was going on in her mind.
Not only did she have to worry about the company every day, she had to worry about the children and him as well.
It was actually very taxing for her to accompany him to the hospital and sleep on the sofa.
Thinking of that, Amos said, âI can actually be discharged from the hospital already. The nurse came to check on me and said that most of my bodily functions have recovered, just that my skin will still take some time to heal. As long as I come for regular checkups as well as reapply the medicine regularly, nothing will go wrong! I donât have to stay here all the time!â
Eudora was still worried, âYou arenât lying to me, are you? Iâm really alright.â
âYou can ask the doctor yourself!â
Eudora really went to ask Doctor Oscar and he relayed to her the same thing. Then, Eudora handled the procedures to discharge Amos.
That night, Amos got discharged from the hospital and followed Eudora home.
In the blink of an eye, a month had passed.
Amos was finally getting his bandages removed! Eudora accompanied Amos to the hospital early in the morning.
On the way, she kept comforting Amos.
She said, âNo matter what, you will always be the father to our children! The family needs you and so do I. Everything is going to be fine, understand?â
Amos nodded, âI understand.â
After a few seconds, Eudora said again, âNo matter what, you will always be the father to our children! The family needs you and so do I. Everything is going to be fine, understand?â
Amos replied the same, âOkay!â
Charlie who was sitting in front said weakly, âMadam, youâve said the same thing twice!â
Eudora waved her hand, âItâs fine! Itâs okay to repeat something important. This is only the second time!â
Charlie shook his head, âItâs not that. Honestly, youâve said it dozens of times since this morning!â
Eudora truly had not realized it.
âIs that true?â
Amos nodded.
Eudoraâs jaw dropped to the floor.
She took a deep breath to hide her anxiety.
âActually, Iâm not nervous at all. I just⦠didnât sleep well last night. Thatâs why I canât think straight! Donât become nervous because of me. Iâm not worried at all!â
Charlie said heartlessly, âYouâve said this more than a dozen times too!â
Eudora was getting angry.
âCharlie! Youâre deliberately setting me up, arenât you?â
Charlie immediately shut up, âMrs. Granger, please continue speaking. I heard nothing!â
Eudora then smiled and looked at Amos, âAnyway, you will always be the father to our children! The family needs you and so do I. Everything is going to be fine, understand?â
Charlie decided to keep quiet this time.
After arriving at the hospital, the nurse brought him in to have his bandages removed. Eudora waited outside, her heart in a mess.
She felt even more anxious than when she had been sitting for her examinations!
While she was thinking about it, the phone rang. Clintâs voice sounded from the phone, âMrs. Granger, thereâs a document that you urgently need to sign. Please come to the company!â
âNo way!â Eudora shook her head. âIâm in the hospital right now. You can handle it first!â
âNo, Mrs. Granger, you must immediately sign this. The customer is departing for the airport in 20 minutes!â
