Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Hand In Marriage

After the storm passed, the next morning, Miles and Father Lewis went out to search for Felix. Yesterday, when Miles came back smelling like  a piece of garbage, Mother Rosie had helped him wash with the tomato juice and thanks to that the smell went away. During that, Miles explained that Fang Yu would bring Felix later.

Of course, Mother Rosie didn't have any objection. After all, he was hoping that the two boys could spend more time together. Father Lewis on the other hand didn't look so happy with the idea. They waited in the house until the rain started to fall down. Father Lewis and Miles were getting impatient until they heard a knock at the door. They thought that Felix was back, but to their surprise it was a villager called Tony.

“Sorry to bother you, Mr.White. I just wanted to tell you that Fang Yu and little Fel should already be almost back. I went ahead of them, but it wasn't very far. It is just that little Fel got tired, and they stopped for a while, so he could rest.” After that, Tony left, and Father Lewis got a little relieved. He just hoped it wouldn't take so long in the rain.

At the beginning, it was only a small drizzle, but soon became a savage storm. At this point, all the people at Felix house were very worried. They looked out of the window, and it looked like the rain wasn't going to stop anytime soon.

Miles wanted to go out to search for Felix, but Mother Rosie stopped him. “What are you going to do? Looking blindly under the heavy rain? Tony said that they were very near the village. It is more likely that they went to Fang Yu house to shelter from the rain. Just let it be, we could search for them on the morning.”

But how could Miles be willing? His cute little brother was walking directly towards the lions' den. But he couldn't go against his mother's order. So he looked at Father Lewis, hoping that he could say something on his behalf. But what he saw was that his father, that wife slave, couldn't move a finger under Mother Lewis glare.

Heaven knows that neither Father Lewis nor Miles could fall asleep all night. They were keeping up with their thoughts. Especially Father Lewis, he had a very bad feeling inside his heart. He could only ask the heavens that it wasn't like he thought.

But facts proved that maybe the heavens didn't hear Father Lewis' words. When it dawned, the first thing that Miles did was to get up, even without breakfast, and went directly towards Fang Yu’s house. Father Lewis and Mother Rosie were behind him. Of course, the old couple couldn't match the speed of their son that was at his prime. So when the elders arrive in front of Fang Yu’s house, they encounter his eldest son looking at the closed door with a face black as coal.

Mother Rosie didn't know why Miles had the face like he was going to murder someone. After all, she, like Father Lewis, were betas. But Miles was different. He was an alpha, so he naturally smells the strong pheromones inside the house. It was so strong that the neighbors, like Tony, already knew what was happening inside there. And even Father Lewis that was beta could slightly smell it.

“This beast! He is eating my son!” Father Lewis said angrily when he understood the situation. He was so infuriated that the vein on his head looked like it could explode at any moment.

Miles wasn't looking very good either, he was going to knock down the door, just to be stopped by Mother Rosie. “Miles stop it. I know how you and your father feel. But what can you do, know? It has already started. Probably yesterday. We can't separate them now. It could be dangerous for the two of them. Now, the only thing that he can do is wait.”

Even if he knew that his mother was right. Miles still wanted to get inside and grab his little brother out of the hands of that big bad wolf. But he could only grit his teeth and left the place.

It wasn't until five days later that the heat inside Fang Yu’s house subsided. Felix was sleeping soundly on the bed. Fang Yu already went to grab some clean water from the well. Of course, some people were gossiping when they looked at him. But he couldn't care less. He now had a sweetheart to take care of.

Meanwhile, Fang Yu went out to bring water from the well, Felix had a pending conversation with a certain rabbit.

“So…why did you tell me that I had the right mushroom?”

The rabbit system was kneeling on the floor. With tears in his eyes, he could only say. “I'm sorry! I just saw the image next to the name and didn't look further.”

Felix could only sigh. He had already noticed a long time ago that his system wasn't very clever to begin with. He only hoped that these mistakes would not repeat frequently.

“Well, what happened is already done. Just forget it.” Felix didn't have the heart to keep angry at Qiu. After all, in a certain way, it was thanks to his mistake that he realized his real feelings towards Fang Yu.

Besides, the trembling rabbit with his ears down looked very cute.

With his reprimand over. Felix lay down on the bed. Just thinking about the last five days makes his face redden.

He had never experienced so much pleasure in his life. He didn't even know that it was possible to continue for five days straight to begin with.

Fang Yu came back. Looking at the cute boy rolling on the bed making him want to push him down again. But thinking about the troubles that they had to deal with, Fang Yu had to control himself.

“Awake now?” Fang Yu approached the bed, his eyes full of tenderness.

“Hmm.”

“Are you hungry? I will make you breakfast.”

The two boys sit down on the small dinner table on the first floor while eating dinner. Nobody talked, but the atmosphere between the two was very comfy. Neither Fang Yu nor Felix wanted to break this moment.

But at that moment they heard a hard knock on the door, and then someone screamed.

“Fang Yu, you beast! I know that you are there. Open up!”

The situation was like this, right now Fang Yu was kneeling in front of Father Lewis and Miles.

On the side of the room, Felix was sitting on the chair with Mother Rosie by his side. We wanted to say a few words to speak up for Fang Yu, but Mother Rosie told him not to speak.

“So? Anything you want to say for yourself?” Father Lewis said emotionlessly. His glare was so cold that Fang Yu felt that he was inside of an ice cave in the mountains.

Fang Yu kowtow on the floor and without hesitation said. “I'm sorry for what I had done to Little Fel.”Then Fang Yu raised his head, and with eyes full of determination continued “But I don't regret it. This, Fang Yu, requests Father to give me Felix hand in marriage.”

“You dare!” Miles, in contrast to his Father, was on fire like an active volcano. This demon had taken his brother's innocence. And now wanted to take him from home?

In his dreams!

Father Lewis said nothing. He only kept looking straight into Fang Yu's eyes.

“Follow me.” Father Lewis spoke and then went outside the backyard.

Fang Yu followed him obediently.

Glancing at the two men, Felix could only say to his mother. “Will he be fine?” Felix was worried that his father would give Fang Yu a beating.

Mother Rosie only patted his younger son's hand and said jokingly. “I just hoped that your father doesn't make anything irrational.”

In the backyard, Father Lewis was looking at the feet of the mountain.

Fang Yu was behind him. Looking at the back of Father Lewis. Weirdly, he felt a sense of deja bu. Like he had seen a strong back before.

He was lost in his thoughts until he heard Father Lewis speak. “Felix had always been a naughty since little. He likes to run in the forest and make jokes to his brothers. But he also has the kindest heart of all. Since we had the children we haven't had a lot of money, sometimes Miles or Anne would ask why they couldn't have those toys that the children in town had. They would sometimes ask for some sweets or clothes, but Felix never did.

That day, the one when we went to the mountains. We were searching for him. We couldn't find him anywhere. Then, I heard from other children that Felix went to find a treasure on the verge of the mountain.”

Father Lewis stopped for a second, his eyes were getting a little red. And with some grive of his voice continued. “Another child said that Felix wanted to buy a big meal for us. And buy some toys for his new nephew.

I always wanted to give the best to my family. To protect them. But the day I saw you bringing Felix unconscious, I had a feeling. I thought to myself. “Oh this is the one.” My intuition had never failed me. It saved my life more times that I could count.”

Father Lewis turn back, and seeing straight to Fang Yu's eyes said “and my intuition is telling me that Felix will have a good life with you.”

Fang Yu looked very surprised. From what he had heard till now, he thought that Father Lewis would said that he wouldn't let his dearest son marry some broke guy.

Like reading his thoughts, Father Lewis said with a bitter smile. “Don't you think, I don't want to break your legs? You took my sons even before marriage! If you wouldn't ask for his hand in marriage I would already beat you up. And believe me, I really want to, but if I did, Felix wouldn't forgive me.”

After joking, he said seriously. This mood swing was getting Fang Yu nervous.

“Take good care of my son. He had always been troublesome. Now his temperament has turned for the better but he is still as unpredictable as before. Who knows what would happen.”

“Thank you Father. I will keep Felix safe.” Said Fang Yu. His eyes, heart and soul were full of determination and love.

“Who are you calling Father!?” Father Lewis said angrily. “You just wait, you little rascal, someday you would be father and then I bet that some brat will give you a taste of your medecine.”

Fang Yu didn't take it seriously at the time. But years later he recalled this conversation and would question if his Father in law wasn't a prophet.

Looking that the two men were coming back, and Fang Yu didn't have any injuries Felix sighs with relief. But he noticed that the expression on Fang Yu's face went right, he asked worriedly. “What's wrong?”

Fang Yu said with some sweat on his forehead. “Uncle has let me marry you.”

It wasn't that a good thing?

But Fang Yu's next words make him understand his feelings. “And he asked for a dowry of 100 gold coins.”

Felix felt that his blood pressure was low.

Mother Rosie only glanced at her stubborn husband who was unreasonable again.

Father Lewis: Want my son? I want my revenge first!
