TilakxIshan
It was a breezy Sunday afternoon, and the team was enjoying a much-needed break at a cozy resort. Ishan and Tilak, as usual, were sprawled out by the pool, laughing so hard that the others couldn't help but notice.
"You should've seen your face yesterday when that pigeon swooped down!" Ishan howled, slapping his thigh.
"Please! Your scream was so high-pitched the pigeon probably thought it was mating season," Tilak shot back, wiping tears from his eyes.
Their laughter echoed around the pool, drawing amused glances from their teammates.
Lately, though, Ishan's laughter came with a side of butterflies whenever Tilak was near. His heart raced at every joke and quick-witted comeback, and he was beginning to realize it wasn't just Tilak's humor that had him hookedâit was Tilak himself.
That evening, Ishan decided he needed help. He dragged Shubman into his room and shut the door.
"Why do I feel like I'm about to hear something I'll regret?" Shubman asked, flopping onto the bed.
"Shubman," Ishan started, pacing nervously. "I think I like Tilak."
Shubman blinked. "Like... romantically?"
Ishan groaned. "Yes, Shubman, romantically! Why else would I be losing my mind over his stupid jokes?"
"Okay, first of all, his jokes are actually funny," Shubman corrected. "Second, you're screwed."
Ishan sat down with a thud. "That's why I need your help."
Shubman smirked. "This sounds like a team effort. Let's call for reinforcements."
Ten minutes later, Rishabh, Hardik, and Siraj were crammed into the room.
"So, lover boy has a crush on Tilak," Rishabh summarized, leaning against the wardrobe.
"Shocking," Hardik said with mock surprise. "Never would've guessed, considering you spend 90% of your time giggling like teenagers together."
"Shut up," Ishan muttered, his cheeks turning red.
Siraj rubbed his hands together, a devilish grin spreading across his face. "Alright, boys, here's what we do. We make Tilak jealous."
"Jealous?" Ishan frowned.
"Yeah," Siraj said, leaning forward like a mastermind villain. "You avoid him. Spend more time with someone elseâpreferably Shubman since you already hang out a lot. Meanwhile, we'll throw in some well-timed comments to really push him over the edge. The fans already ship you two together, so it'll get to him."
Ishan was hesitant. "You really think that'll work?"
"Oh, trust me," Siraj said with a sly smile. "It will."
----
The next day, the plan kicked off. Ishan started spending extra time with Shubman, cracking jokes, talking about cricket, and even casually leaning into him when they'd chat.
He could see Tilak noticing, his eyes narrowing slightly whenever he entered the room and found them laughing together.
"Hey, you two are practically glued at the hip now," Tilak remarked, trying to sound casual as he walked into the room one afternoon.
Ishan smiled, keeping the act up. "What can I say? Shubman and I have a lot in common."
Tilak's expression faltered for a moment, but he quickly recovered. "Yeah, I guess you do." He forced a smile, but there was something in his eyesâa flicker of uncertainty.
Siraj, watching from a corner, couldn't resist. "You know, Shubman and Ishan make a great pair. The fans are loving it."
Ishan's heart raced at the way Tilak's gaze snapped to them, but he kept his cool. "It's all about chemistry, right?" he said with a shrug, giving Shubman a playful nudge.
Tilak clenched his jaw but didn't say anything, though it was clear his thoughts were elsewhere.
----
The next day, Ishan doubled down.
He spent even more time with Shubman, chatting about everything from their favorite movies to cricket stats, while Tilak, who'd been attempting to join in the conversations, was repeatedly left out.
At dinner, Rishabh joined in on the fun. "I have to admit, I didn't think you two would make such a good pair," he said, grinning. "You're like the dynamic duo of the team."
Hardik nodded in agreement, teasingly adding, "I can already see the fan edits coming. #Ishman."
Tilak, who had been half-listening, nearly choked on his food. "What the hell is this?" he muttered under his breath.
Ishan looked at him innocently. "What do you mean?"
Tilak set down his fork, his eyes narrowing. "You guys.....You've been acting weird all week. I can't even get a word in when it's just you two. Is there something going on?"
Ishan froze, unsure how to respond.
But Siraj jumped in, adding a casual, "Tilak, come on, you know how the fans are. Shubman and Ishan have that... vibe."
"Vibe?" Tilak's voice had a sharp edge now. "Really? Me and Ishan were like that too. But you guys never said something like this."
Ishan could see the jealousy flickering in Tilak's eyes. He felt guilty, but also relieved. Maybe this was working.
----
Later that night, after a long practice session, Ishan couldn't hold back anymore.
He found Tilak sitting by himself near the edge of the field, staring off into the distance. He approached cautiously.
"Tilak," Ishan said softly, sitting beside him. "I didn't mean to make you feel like that... it was all part of a stupid plan."
Tilak glanced at him, still frustrated. "A plan? To make me jealous?"
Ishan nodded, his voice almost a whisper. "Yeah, Siraj thought it might work. But the truth is... I was just scared. Scared to admit that I like you. More than just a friend. And I thought maybe you didn't feel the same way, so I... I did something dumb."
Tilak's expression softened, and he placed a hand on Ishan's arm. "You don't need to be scared. I care about you too, more than you know."
For a moment, everything felt still. The world seemed to fade away as they both realized the truthâthey had been dancing around each other for so long, unsure of what the other felt.
Ishan looked into Tilak's eyes, his heart racing. "So... you mean it?"
Tilak smiled, his usual playfulness returning. "I do. I always have."
Without another word, Ishan leaned in, closing the distance between them. Their lips met in a soft, slow kiss.
It wasn't just the kiss of friends finally admitting what they'd felt for so long; it was the kiss of two people who had found their way to each other in the most unexpected of ways.
----
From the edge of the field, Siraj, Rishabh, Hardik, and even Shubman watched, grinning from ear to ear.
"Finally!" Hardik said, throwing his hands up.
"All thanks to me," Siraj declared smugly.
"Sure, genius," Rishabh said, rolling his eyes.
Even Shubman smiled, though he quickly added, "I better not be dragged into another plan like this."
----
Virat and Rohit, who had been sipping tea nearby, exchanged amused glances.
"At least they didn't take as long as some people," Virat said.
Rohit smirked. "Don't start, Kohli."
----
As the team cheered their success, Ishan and Tilak walked back inside, hand in hand, and couldn't stop smiling.
The End.
