Chapter 349 Same Level âProtect?â
Deirdre understood that no one would be able to protect her in Brendanâs presence because he was a madman who acted on his will.
âIf he is happy, he will smile at you. But if he is displeased, he will figure out all sorts of ways to destroy you, and no one can stand a chance against him. How can he protect me from him?
âMoreover⦠why does it have to be so coincidental that he is in the same hospital as Kyran and they are warded on the same level?â
âI really am fine.â Deirdre clenched her fists tightly and inhaled three deep breaths once again to calm herself. She rubbed her face and said, âIâm just tired because I didnât sleep well in the car last night.â
Upon hearing that, Kyran typed, âIâll get Declan to take you somewhere to rest when heâs up.â
âSure.â
Deirdre seized the opportunity to walk outside once again.
Even though she hoped to cut ties with Brendan, she had to figure out which level and room Brendan was staying at first.
She felt her way to the elevator and went downstairs to the nursesâ station. After looking at her, the nurse assumed that she was a patient and asked, âAre you having trouble getting to the dispensary because you canât see?â
âNo.â Deirdre explained, âIâm not a patient.â
The nurse was momentarily stunned but did not ponder further. âHow may I help you then?â
âUhâ¦â Deirdre inhaled a deep breath. âI would like to inquire about Mr. Brendan Brighthallâs room.â
The nurse expressed her understanding instantly when she heard Deirdreâs remark. She regarded Deirdre as one of those women trying to charm Brendan and replied in a cold, official tone, âIâm sorry, but I canât reveal a patientâs confidential information if youâre not the patientâs family.â
âPatientâs family⦠Does his deceased wife count?â
Deirdre knew that the nurse would most certainly regard her as a madwoman if she were to say that. She explained softly, âDonât worry. Iâm only asking, and I wonât approach him.â
âEven if you donât approach him, I canât give you an answer either way. Please move aside if you have nothing else. Weâre busy.â
The nurseâs mannerism was cold, so Deirdre did not have the courage to linger at the nursesâ station. She kept her head lowered and was about to return to Kyran when she heard the rushed clicking sound of someoneâs high heels trailing behind her.
Soon afterward, the figure walked past her to the nursesâ station. âWhere is Brendan Brighthallâs room?â
Deirdreâs body froze abruptly.
âIs that Charlene? I canât let her see me!â
Deirdre panicked and walked ahead in a rush and bumped into someone accidentally.
The person called out âYikesâ, and he was furious. âWhat the heck is going on? Why are you walking heedlessly in the hospital? Are you rushing to get to the morgue?â The commotion drew Charleneâs attention. She turned around subconsciously and saw an emaciatedâlooking woman with her back facing her. The woman was being scolded by the other person, and she lookedâ¦
There was puzzlement in Charleneâs eyes, and she walked over with her high heels clickingâ¦
âMiss McKinney, right?â
The nurse approached Charlene, and the latter shifted her gaze. âYes, where is Brendanâs room?â
âPlease hold on. I shall check for you.â
Deirdre was lucky to escape without exposing herself and stood in the crowd. She could hear the commotion at Charleneâs side and Charleneâs voice clearly.
Her heart was racing when Charlene mentioned Brendanâs name.
âMr. Brendan Brighthall⦠Alright, found it. Mr. Brighthall is on the top floor, Level 11.â
âLevel 11?â
Deirdre suddenly remembered Declanâs mention of Kyranâs room. She remembered that Kyranâs room was on Level 11 as well. âItâs such a coincidence that they are both warded on the same level?â
Her face turned ghastly pale in an instant. âIn other words, is it possible that a wall only separates Brendan and me, and he almost caught me!?â
As soon as the thought occurred to her, Deirdre felt a shiver down her spine.
Charlene asked impatiently, âWhat is the room number?â
Deirdre felt her heart in her throat.
âRoom 1106.â The nurse answered, âThat is Mr. Brighthallâs room.â
Deirdre was shocked instantly
