The second Dylan's face popped up, Olivia couldn't help but smile. He grinned right back excitedly, "Hey, Livie!"
"Hi," she greeted him warmly. "How's your day going, movie-star?"
"You know, technically we're both movie-stars," he pointed out before he laid back on the couch in his trailer. "But my day has been fine, just filled with filming."
"Oh, come on, there has to be something interesting on set," Olivia urged him, just wanting to hear him talk more. "How's the cast? You getting along well?"
Dylan smiled at the thought of his new friends from the Maze Runner, "We are, yeah. We all get along great, especially Thomas and I."
"He plays Newt, right?"
"Mhm," Dylan nodded. "He can be quiet but he's super funny and full of wit- kind of like Kaya. She plays Theresa. She reminds me of Julia a lot, just the way she's not intimated and joins in on the fun."
"It must strange to be the only girl," Olivia commented with a small laugh. "I can barely handle a scene with just you and Posey, much less an entire film with fifteen other boys."
"Oi! We're not that bad," Dylan defended but he cracked at the sound of her giggling. "But I think you two would get along great. You both have that, like, confident fire, you know? Sierra and Theresa would be an epic team-up."
"Oh, I'm sure Kaya and I would be friends, but if I'm honest, I can't stand her character in the series," Olivia admitted and he tilted his head.
"Really, why?"
Olivia looked at him in confusion, "Did you not read the books like I told you too?"
A guilty grin spread across his lips, giving Olivia her answer. She sighed, but Dylan interjected quickly, "To be fair, I started the first oneâ which is an accomplishment all on its own. I kind of forgot to finish it though."
Olivia just stared at him and he stifled a laugh, discretely snapping a screenshot of her face for his own amusement.
"Does this mean you're not going to tell me why you don't like Theresa?" Dylan asked, since she was still staring at him.
"I don't know if I should," Olivia teased. "I should let you figure it out on your own."
The actor instantly groaned, "Ugh, why? That's not fair, Livie."
"Neither is being a lead role in a film based on a series you've never read," Olivia joked, chuckling to herself from the look of disgust that crossed his face.
"But I hate reading!"
"You read scripts all the time."
"That's different!" Dylan protested.
Olivia raised her eyebrows. "How?"
"Well, I mean, there's the fact that," Dylan stumbled to find a good example but his mind had gone blank. Olivia laughed, shaking her head.
"Books are just scripts that have the action in more detail," Olivia stated. "There's no reason you can't finish them."
Dylan pouted, his lips turning downwards. "Do I have to?"
"Of course not," Olivia scoffed. "I can't make you do anything. But I honestly think you should. Not only for the movie, but for yourself. It's a really good series, and I think you'd like them."
"Really?"
"Really," she assured him with a smile.
"Okay," Dylan decided, knowing it would make her happy. "I'll read them."
Her eyes lit up excitedly, "You will?"
"I will," Dylan promised.
"Awe, yay!" She let out a small squeal, and happily hit her free hand against her thigh. "I'm telling you, Dylan, they are amazing. The third one might make you cry though, I know I did. I bawled like a baby..."
Dylan simply sat back and listened to her with a smile on his face, watching her go on and on about the Maze Runner. He noticed how she still talked with her hands, moving them in circular motions as she expressed her thoughts. Her dirty-blonde hair was pulled back into a bun, her face fresh and clear. She looked totally relaxed and happy, a sight Dylan always wanted to see.
"Are you listening to me?"
"Hmm?" Dylan blinked, realizing she had been trying to get his attention.
Olivia giggled. "I mean, if I'm that boring you could've told me to shut up," Olivia stated with a smile.
"No, no, no," Dylan shook his head quickly and rushed to assure her. "You weren't boring, I promise. I just love hearing you talk about this kind of stuff. You're very passionate, I can tell."
A slight blush spread across her cheeks and she shyly ran her hand down her face. "I do enjoy them, yeah."
Dylan changed subjects, so he could listen to her talk more. "I remember you commenting to me about some tea you needed to spill?" He recalled, raising his eyebrows in curiosity.
Recognition flickered across her face and her eyes widened. "Oh, yeah! I forgot to tell you. Daniel finally asked out Crystal! Isn't that great?"
"He did?" Surprise could be heard in Dylan's voice. "I never thought he'd tell Crys how he felt."
"Neither did I! I mean, it was obvious he had a crush on her, and I'm happy for them. I think they're going to be good together, you know? I'll get to see them in a few days for the premiere party."
Dylan frowned, "I wish I could come."
"Me too," Olivia smiled sadly. "It's going to be a lot quieter without you here. I'm going out later to get some stuff because I know Daniel, both Tylers, and the girls love to raid my pantry."
"So everyone is going?"
Olivia nodded, shrugging her shoulders. "Basically. Jeff and some other people can't come though; they already made other plans."
"I feel bad," Dylan told her honestly. "Season three is the biggest thing for Teen Wolf yet, and I'm missing our get-together. I wouldn't even be doing this movie without that show."
"Dylan, your schedule isn't your fault," Olivia reminded him. "Everyone understands. We know you'd be here if you could. Though, I do miss you. A lot."
His face softened. "I miss you too, Livie."
Just then there was a knock on his trailer, and a stagehand popped his head in. "Hey, Dylan, can you come to makeup real quick? We're almost ready to film."
A small sigh escaped Dylan, as the call to set meant he had to hang up with Olivia. He forced a smile and told the man, "I'll be right there."
Dylan waited for him to leave before he faced Olivia with another pout. "I gotta go."
"I know," Olivia released her own breath. "But it's okay. I'll see you soon. Only like a month, right?"
"Right," Dylan confirmed with a nod. He stared at her for a second, memorizing her face. He didn't know the next time he'd be able to FaceTime her. It was a miracle he had time today. "I miss you but I promise I'll see you soon, Livie."
Olivia smiled at the nickname, waving her hand. "Bye, Dylan! Hope you have fun today, okay? Have fun. I'll send everyone your love at the party!"
Dylan waved back, smiling until her face disappeared from his phone screen. Then his face fell and he sighed once more.
That girl really didn't know what she was doing to him, heck barely Dylan knew how he was feeling. All he noticed is how much he hated not being beside her.
And he wondered if he could last a month before he saw her again.
