Adrien Walker
Throughout the session, I realise that Trevor and I are neck and neck. But of course, Luke is way ahead of us in anything related to speed. There's a reason he loved Sonic Zoom so much as a kid.
Suddenly the captain spot doesn't seem like it'll be mine as easily as I thought it would be. After everything that happened over the summer, I don't think I would mind if Trevor did become captain. He probably needs it more than me anyways. It'll give him something to focus on.
I have my own reasons for wanting it, but at the end of the day if it'll help Trevor more then I'm okay with not being Captain.
So with that thought in mind, I decide it's probably best to lag a little behind Trevor in the rest of the challenges but still in front of Matt and Nicki.
Trevor stands before me just as I turn the corner. Before giving me a chance to think of what to say he speaks up, "I know what you were doing out there. Stop."
With that, he turns around and walks into one of the shower cubicles.
I knew he'd pick up on what I was doing, given his hypervigilance.
It has been nearly two months since we last spoke, and that's the first thing he says to me. Well done Adrien, well done on fucking up once again.
I push open the shower cubicle door with more force than intended causing it to slam against the wall.
I let the warm water run down my muscles, trying to force myself to relax and let go of the anger.
I hate being angry all the damn time.
I really should start taking my meds more regularly, instead of whenever I can be assed or remember.
Sighing, I turn off the shower and wrap the towel around my waist. I'm one of the last few left in the changing room. I take my time getting dressed. Soon enough I'm the last one to leave. I walk down the empty hallways. The rain has calmed down quite a bit.
Just as I'm about to walk across the carpark towards my car, I hear a groan coming from where the school keeps all its big dumpsters.
What the fuck is that?
Pretty certain the caretaker and I are the only ones in school right now.
It better not be...
I walk around the dumpsters to find Ethan sitting next to a silver dumpster with his head resting against it. There's some blood dripping down the side of his head and the silver dumpster is stained red. I walk over to him and crouch down in front of him. He raises his hand and moves his wet hair out of his face, so he can see me without having to move his head.
"Does it hurt to move your head?" I ask him as softly as I can.
"Y-yeah" He croaks out.
"Okay, I'm just going to give you something to press against your head, need to keep constant pressure on the wound," I tell him as I grab a spare top from my bag, I double-check it's clean before scrunching it up and pressing it against his head. He instantly squeezes his eyes shut.
"Looks like you need stitches, so we're going to have to go to the hospital. Does anywhere else hurt?" I ask, trying the scan his body like I have x-ray vision. He's losing a lot of fucking blood. The dumpster is coated in it, the side of his clothes are soaked red, and if it hadn't been raining I'm sure they would be a puddle of blood next to him.
He slowly peels his eyes open, I keep my top pressed to his head, "My legs and ribs"
I only nod in response, "Alright hold this to your head" I say picking up his hand and putting it where mine is. His hands freezing, no wonder he's shaking so badly. I wonder how long he's been out here in the rain.
"Can you move? Do you think you'll be able to walk?"
"I can't get up."
I pick up both our bags and sling them over my shoulder, "Right I'm going to pick you up and take you to my car so we can head to the hospital, okay?"
All he does is stare at me, but there's no time to waste so I pick him up as gently as I possibly can and walk over to my car. I unlock my car and put him in the passenger seat, before closing the door I put his seatbelt on for him.
I open the back doors and put our bags on the seats. I grab the hoodie that I always keep in the boot and get into the driver's seat. I put the hoodie over him as though it were a blanket and turn on the heat.
As I pull out of the drive, it occurs to me that it's probably a good idea to keep him talking so he'll stay awake, "Who did this?"
He doesn't say anything, so I look over to see he has his eyes closed and is about to nod off. I reach out and touch his shoulder, "Hey, don't fall asleep we're nearly there. Come on, tell me who did this."
He opens his eyes but they're hardly open. I can tell he's trying hard not to fall asleep, "Nicki and Matt," He whispers.
That's why they were late for tryouts. That means he spent nearly three hours out in the rain. My grip tightens around the steering wheel.
Those fuckers will pay.
Is it payback for when I beat them up at lunch?
"Do you think you'll be able to stay awake for another ten minutes or so?" I ask sorting out his hand, that's holding up my top to his head, as he's getting more sleepy his hand keeps slipping.
"I don't know."
I decide to continue to talk to him to try and keep him awake, "What's your favorite subject?" I ask not knowing what else to say
"Don't have one."
"Come on, surely you prefer one more than all the others," I say trying to encourage him to talk more.
"Health," This makes me raise an eyebrow, health is definitely the most boring class.
"Why?"
"I find it easiest falling asleep in that class," I can't help but let my lips tug upwards slightly at his reply.
"Do you have any pets?"
"No."
"Do you want any pets?"
"Yeah."
"What pet do you want?"
"A dog."
"Dogs are pretty cool, I don't have one either. But Trevor does and she's the best." I say.
He doesn't say anything.
So I ask him another question, "What would you name your dog? Trevor's is called Hallie."
"I don't know."
"Okay. If there was anywhere on the planet you could go, where would it be?"
"I don't know."
"Alright Bert, you must have somewhere in mind. I've always wanted to see the Northern Lights and Niagara Falls. "
"Anywhere away from here," He says really quietly, I barely even hear him, "Whose Bert?"
I chuckle, "Bert from Horrid Henry, the 'I dunno' guy."
He doesn't reply, he's really out of it and I don't want to keep bugging him.
"Do you want to talk?" I ask after a few more seconds of silence.
"No."
But I need to keep him awake.
"Okay, we're nearly there. Just a few more minutes, so don't fall asleep." I say but I already see his eyes are beginning to close
"Alright how about this, I'll hold your hand and every few seconds when I squeeze it, I want you to do the same back as hard as you can. Okay?"
He doesn't say anything, so I reach out and take hold of his hand. "Woah, you're hand's freezing! Are you still cold?"
I crack up the heat before he can answer.
"Yeah."

Thoughts?
Hopefully, Ethan is okay!
