Her mother was also looking very bad as if they were from very illiterate family! They looked like the people who live in small huts near railway station but with over makeup on their faces! “Oh shit! Holy shit! I am trapped! Now, I can neither take them to my home nor can I run away!”She looked at me and smiled. Her face began to glow with happiness looking at me. I drove my bike towards them as I had no other option. I didn’t want to hurt them by any way. I never want to hurt anyone. And they had come way far from Uttar Pradesh to Punjab to meet me! They were total four in numbers. She herself, her mom, her dad and her brother. Seriously, I didn’t know how to deal them. I wished “Namaste” to all of them. They wished me back too. Following my Indian culture, I also bowed my head a little for her mom’s and dad’s blessings. But I didn’t know that Rekha was going to shock me!She heightened her only right eyebrow and just like a flirty girl gave me a cue with her eyes that I move a bit ahead on the seat of my bike and allow her to sit at my back! I thought, “What the hell this girl is doing! I am not in America. I am in Punjab and I can’t allow any girl to sit at my back. All members of my locality will come to know that I am bringing girl to my house and I will become the matter of talks for month for them.”To avert the awkward situation, cunningly I said, “Hmm... Rekha, I think I should take your dad with me because he is old and seems to be week. My house is not far away. It is very near. You just have to go on walking straight for about two minutes. That’s all. I will be there waiting for you.”Rekha – Oh... Okay. Her dad sat with me and I kicked my bike and began to drive. While driving, I was thinking, “My mom is definitely going to give a piece of her mind to me! All of them look horrible! What will my mom think about me? What kind of people am I calling to my house? But I can’t ignore them now. They have come way far from another state. Anyhow, I have to meet them but obviously, I will cut short the time of our meeting.”I brought her dad to my home and soon they reached too. My mom didn’t show any signs of irritation, or anger, or hatred, or disgust as I expected. She was dealing with them very nicely! I said to myself, “Thank God! She is behaving normal." She served them water. And after sometime she also served them tea with biscuits. After they became comfortable, the conversation began. I looked towards Rekha’s brother (Manish) and asked him, “What do you do bro?”Manish (Rekha’s brother) - I am working in a bank. Her mom – Actually, he is the wisest among our family. That’s why we brought him along with us. Rekha secretly tweaked her mom but I saw it. Aman – Oh, okay. That’s good. Manish – And what do you do bro? Aman – I am a government teacher. Manish – That's great. Aman – I don’t know if I should say it or not but as we met first time in real life and we don’t know about each other. So, I want to do some silly formalities, if you are okay with it. Manish – Yeah, sure. Aman – I asked Rekha to bring her adhar card and pan card. Please feel bad. Just a formality. I didn’t want to ask this question but I asked it just to keep the heart of Rekha because when we talked on phone, I asked her to bring her adhar and pan card. If I didn’t ask for them now, she would immediately come to know that I rejected her just because of her looks.Rekha – Yes, Aman, I have brought. She took out her adhaar and pan card and gave it to me. I said to Manish - I hope you didn’t mind it. Manish – No, no. Never. I can understand. We also want to do a silly formality, if it’s okay with you. Aman – Yeah sure. Manish – We just want to see your bank passbook. I was shocked to hear that! But I didn’t let my feelings surface. My mom started looking at me with weird eyes. Manish quickly noticed by mom’s strange looks. He said, “Actually, Aman, the problem is that nowadays many fraud cases are happening. Boys are saying that they are doing government job but in actuality they are not government employees. But from passbook, it becomes clear if he is really a government employee or not.”Aman – Okay bro, I can understand you. I brought my passbook from my almirah and gave it to him. He opened the passbook and read it. When he found my salary statements, he got satisfied. Her dad – How many rooms are there in your house, Aman?Aman – Three. Her mom – And how many brothers do you have? Aman – Only one but he is living separately. I mean he has his own house in another city. Her mom – Hmm...Manish – Aman bro, before we proceed ahead, I want to make everything clear to you. Aman – Yeah, sure. Manish – Actually, she belongs to a poor family. Aman – Yeah, I know that. Manish – So, her family will not be able to give anything to you in dowry. I smiled and said, “I don’t even want.”Manish – That's good then. I thought, “Manish bro, I don’t even want your sister. Please finish your stupid talks and go from here. I want to see myself alone now. And my answer is clear no!”Her mom – Aman, is this your house? I mean is this house in your name? Aman – Yes, aunty ji. Her dad – So, for how long have you been working? (It will be so nice of you, if you leave at least a single word comment 🌺❇️🌹🌺❇️)
