"Reece Brown. " Diana told the woman at the entrance of the hospital. That had been the name that Karter had faked while admitting.
"Room 478."
She ran into the closing lift and pressed 4.
"Hold the door." A voice spoke as a hand popped in between to stop the lift from closing.
"Alex," Diana spoke. "How's he?"
"He's good. Great actually." Alex replied.

"So. Sebastian..." Alex started breaking the uneasy tension, by adding more tension.

"Yeah, Sebastian," I said my voice showing no feelings.

I ran out of the elevator. No, not to avoid the awkwardness to meet my stupid brother, obviously.

I barged into the room.
"What were you thinking going out there with those boys. I told you they were a bad company. Did I raise you to be like this? Now look you have a bullet in you. Tell me, young man, have I not raised you right?" I placed my hands on my lips and spoke with a motherly accent.
Karter looked like he had seen a ghost.
Alex lost no time. "Let him be, darling. A real man learns from his wounds. Nothing like a lesson than a bullet to the waist." He spoke with a fatherly accent.
Diana and Alex continued to look at him in a disappointed manner.
"I have.. no..words. " Karter finally spoke looking at the both of them.
After a few seconds, all of them burst out in laughs.
"Alright, now get out. I need to talk to Diana alone." Karter said.
Alex smiled and gave him a thumbs up. Once he left. Karter turned to Diana.
"I have been running this mafia for over fifteen years now. I really want a break, Diana." He started. " Maybe settle down. Have a kid. Go to a normal job."
"Oh," Diana replied. She couldn't imagine the gang without Karter."Karter. Have you thought this through?"
"I have. Now, you don't have to take this on your shoulders. Alex said he would be willing to be by your side till the end. Whenever you choose that to be. " he replied.
Diana sat down on the edge of his bed.
"So, what do you say?" Karter asked.
Before she could reply alarms blared.
Alex walked in. "Guys. We have a situation."
"This is a black alarm. Immediate evacuation. This a black alarm. Immediate evacuation. This is ..." A lady spoke through the intercom.
"What's going on?" Karter asked Alex as Diana helped him out the bed.
"Some guy got in with a gun and shot a doctor and two nurses. He's still inside the place." Alex replied.
Emeraude walked into the room. "Em take him," Diana said as she made Karter lean on Emeraude. "Get him out of here. Here's a gun. Shoot anyone that tries to stop you. Get him out safe."
Karter tried to argue but shut up when Em gave him a look.
"Alex. You're with me." Diana ordered as she grabbed Karter's gun and ammo from his jacket.
They ran in the direction of the screams.
Diana quickly looked at the placard on the door at the entrance of the corridor they heard the screams from.
It was the children's ward.
"Leave the kids, please! They didn't do anything." A woman cried as she hugged the children trying to protect them with her petite body.
"Please." She cried.
A man stood in front of her holding out the gun towards the group.
Diana looked at Alex. And gestured with her hands.
I'll take the right. You take left.
He nodded.
Diana crouched right behind him. She couldn't tackle him. He might shoot as she did.
"You know I lost my child yesterday. She was just born. She looked blue and skinny. Very pretty. My wife cried." The man said like he was in a dream. "The sound was beautiful. I want to hear more cries. "
Alex looked at her. He pointed his gun at the man and shot him in the leg.
The man shocked dropped his gun. Diana tackled him to the ground and locked him with her legs.
"Take the kids out of here," Diana told the woman.
She nodded and walked them all out. And then walked back in.
"Thank you so much. " She continued to cry.
Diana nodded.
"Ah, the beautiful sound." The man spoke dreamingly.
Diana punched him twice. He dropped his head to the side out cold.
Diana picked up his gun and gave it to the woman.
"Tell the police you shot him. If he moves, shoot him again." Diana explained to her.
She meekly nodded.
Alex and Diana slipped out of the ward before the police could come.
Em and Karter were waiting in the entrance.
The next few minutes felt like it was being played in slow motion. A random guy popped out in front of Diana yelling "Death to Apollo!"
He then shot in the direction of Karter. Diana was frozen to her spot. She saw Alex run towards Karter.
Just before the bullet could hit him a woman fell down in front of him.
Sebastian punched the guy in the gut while Alex pointed the gun to his head.
"Diana!"
"Diana!"
Diana shook her head regaining control. She ran to Karter's side.
He had the woman's head on his lap.
Diana didn't recognise her.
"Doc!" She yelled out to the white-coated group.
"No point Diana," Karter said slowly. Em's eyes were filled with tears. "The bullet hit her in the head. She's gone."
Alex put his hand on Em's shoulder and pulled her into a hug. Em burst into tears.
Everyone was distracted by the woman that nobody noticed Sebastian.
A few nurses came forward with a body bag and placed her inside.
"Who was she and whose Apollo?" Diana asked.
"She was my ex. I'm Apollo. It was my original name. You know Apollo and Diana." Karter replied.
"Oh. I'm so sorry." Diana replied and moved forward to pull him into a hug.
So that's who Ap was in her mom's diary.
"Yeah," Karter said. "Maybe I shouldn't go away."
"No. This is why you should. She gave her life to save yours. You are not going to put yourself in danger anymore." Diana spoke.
"Sebastian?" Em and Alex spoke in unison.
"Not dead." He replied.
Alex punched him in the shoulder and hugged him sideways.
"Nice."
"Guys," Karter called out.
They all looked at him expectantly.
"I'm leaving the mafia. Diana is going to take over for me. I'm going to settle down and get a proper job. I'll come to visit sometimes."
"No, you won't," Alex replied. "Too much risk. We'll come to visit you "
"I'm gonna miss you." Karter told Alex.
"We'll keep in touch."
"Diana?" Karter asked me.
It was weird. She remembered the time when she had no brother. And then her life changed so much. She became dependent on her brother. Now she has to go back to being independent.
"I'm good." She replied. "Plus, I've got these two dumbasses. I'm sure you're taking Em with you-"
Em immediately blushed and slipped an arm around Karter's.
"Always got to take the best out of the three for yourself right brother?" Diana joked.
"Hey!" Alex playfully punched her from the back.
"I got this," I repeated. "Where do you plan on going?"
"Not sure." He said looking at Em. "I'll send a postcard."
Em gave her a hug.
"Take care of my brother." Diana told her.
"I will."
One of Karter's guards stepped forward. "There has been a break-in in the building."
Karter started to reply out of habit but caught himself.
"We're coming. Tell everyone to make sure they are armed." Diana told him. The guard walked away.
"Well, we have to go." Diana told them.
"You'll do great." Karter told her.
She knew she would. Whether she had a king or not didn't matter.
Cause she was The Mafia Queen.
