Chapter 52: Chapter 52: Chu Tian’s Past

Enjoying the meal, it was already 9PM by the time Chu Tian, Bai Xiaochun and Yang Rong exited the Korean restaurant.

“Well then, the two of you can go ahead and enjoy your romantic couple’s world.”

Yang Rong took a profound glance at the new couple. She laughed, “I’ll be returning to the dorm first.”

“Why are you returning this early?” asked Chu Tian, “We’ve just finished eating, shouldn’t we digest the food by walking around a bit?”

“Tsk, I’m not interested in being the third-wheel,” Yang Rong curled her lip, “Besides, I’m someone with a boyfriend. I gotta return to video-chat with my boyfriend. Shoo shoo, go away now. Remember to safely bring back our Xiaochun later.”

After saying those words, Yang Rong smiled and waved her hand at the couple. Then, she started returning to the university.

Seeing that, Bai Xiaochun hugged Chu Tian’s arm and smiled mischievously, “Rongrong’s a very good person.”

“That’s true,” Chu Tian smiled as he nodded his head, “She’s a great classmate. No shortcomings either. Come, let’s go elsewhere.”

“Then, what’s the job that left you with the strongest impression?”

Time passed in a flash. It was already 10PM.

By the Haicheng University of Medicine’s artificial lake. Bai Xiaochun and Chu Tian were sitting on a bench and chatting about Chu Tian’s past.

“The strongest impression? I think it’ll be the experience I had in my third year junior high’s summer vacation.”

Chu Tian recalled what happened, “Back then… I was in dire need of money. So, I became a temp worker for a construction site nearby.”

“We agreed that I will be paid 150RMB a day. Furthermore, I did as much work as everyone else. I didn’t slack off at all either. The other workers were all paid 200 to 300 RMB a day whereas my wage was supposed to be 150 RMB. To the manager of the construction site, that’s a great deal.”

“But, after I worked at the construction site for half a month, that son of a bitch only paid me 1,200 RMB. In other words, I was only being paid 80RMB a day.”

“Ah?” Bai Xiaochun frowned, “How come you’re getting paid only half the agreed upon salary?”

Chu Tian smiled, “What else could it be? That bastard refused to pay. I went up to reason with him. I told him we agreed upon a salary of 150RMB a day. I asked him why I’m only getting paid 80RMB a day. When I did that, that son of a bitch actually started spouting a bunch of bullshit, saying things like I was lazy, that I didn’t take the job seriously. In the end, he’s making up all sorts of faults with me to justify why he didn’t pay me. But, since I’m working in his construction site, there’s nothing that I can do about it. After all, he’s the one in charge, he’s the one who makes up the rules.“

“Ah? That man is such a scoundrel!” Bai Xiaochun pouted, “How could he take advantage of you with how your situation was?”

“Sigh, he wouldn’t care about that at all,” Chu Tian smiled as he shook his head, “The money he saved from not paying me will naturally enter his own pocket. He could use that money to buy some spare ribs to treat himself to a fancy meal. But, the truth is, I was not taken advantage of by him.”

“How were you not?” said Bai Xiaochun, “He confiscated half of your salary.”

“That’s because I stole copper wires from the worksite,” said Chu Tian with a mischievous smile, “I did it for three nights straight and ended up selling them for a total of 6,700 RMB.”n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Bai Xiaochun stared at Chu Tian with wide open eyes. Suddenly, she burst out laughing.

“You… you stole the worksite’s copper wires?”

“He’s the one who tried to take advantage of me first,” laughed Chu Tian, “Copper wires were worth a lot at that time, especially those bundled up ones from construction sites. Those were the good stuff. They were very pure and the scrappers loved them. Those were already finished goods so the scrappers could immediately resell them after buying them as scrap metal. I remember clearly that the total amount of copper wires I sold came out to be 6,700RMB.”

“Hahaha…” Hearing Chu Tian’s story, Bai Xiaochun laughed very hard.

Gasping for air, she said, “Then… did that guy call the police?”

“He did,” said Chu Tian, “But, they were unable to find out who did it. There’s simply too many temp workers at the construction site. If he didn’t call the cops, I would’ve stolen more copper wires.”

Bai Xiaochun wiped the tears of laughter from the corner of her eyes, “Then, do you have any other interesting experience?”

“I do,” Chu Tian pondered for a bit, “It’s also during my third year of junior high. At that time, I was working mainly as an hourly worker. You know, the type where you go to other people’s homes to clean up for them. The pays like a couple tens of RMB.”

“There’s one customer that I remember very well. That woman is in her thirties. Short hair, very fat, not very tall, around only 1.6m or so. She must weight some 200catty. Anyways, she’s not attractive.”

“That’s right,” said Chu Tian, “I was pretty delicate and innocent looking back then. Furthermore, I was already over 1.7m and almost 1.8m in my third year of junior high.”

“At the beginning, that woman would make lewd comments at me. She would ask me things like ‘Do you know what’s the difference between men and women?’ and ‘Have you ever slept with a woman?’”

“Later on, that woman started getting touchy. While I was mopping the floor, she pushed me onto the sofa and tried to take off my clothes. With my size back then, she nearly crushed my ribs with her weight. It took me a great amount of effort to push her away. Immediately after, I dashed for my life. I didn’t even dare to ask for my pay. Even now, I am still traumatized by that experience.”

“Hahaha…”

Bai Xiaochun couldn’t contain herself from laughing again.

After laughing for some time, Bai Xiaochun bit her lip, “Then, did you call the police afterwards? She was molesting you. You should be able to call the cops on her.”

Chu Tian smiled and shook his head, “No, I didn’t. What happened… was quite humiliating for me. If you didn’t ask me about it, I wouldn’t mention it. How could I have the face to report this matter to the police? If I did, I’d be completely disgraced.”
