Freya checked her phone when she got back to the office.
She had received a text message from Ashley.
(Darling, I did not expect your husband to suddenly appear at the restaurant. Are you alright?)
Freya exhaled and composed a reply.
[He didnât do anything to me. Itâs not like he can eat me alive, right? Iâm good. What did Mr Anderson say?]
After replying to Ashley, Freya put down the phone and found a potentially big clientâs number and dialed it.
Before long, the call went through.
Freya smiled and said, âHi, Mr. Davis. I am Freya Keller from Carter Group. We spoke earlierâ¦â
Before she could finish her sentence, Mr. Davis interrupted her. âMs. Keller, I remember you. Hasnât the company already assigned a new representative to work with me?â
âIs that so? I was on extended leave previously, so I wasnât able to contact you as regularly.â
âJennifer Martin has been talking to me. Why donât you check with her? Sorry, I have to go.â
Freya pondered and said, âSure thing. Thanks, Mr. Davis.â
After hanging up the phone, Freya turned to look at Jennifer. She was looking in the mirror when Freya called her. âHey, Jennifer.â
Jennifer turned to look at Freya coldly. âYes?â
Freya pointed at Mr. Davisâ information and said, âHave you gotten in touch with this client?â
Jennifer glanced at the information and replied matter of factly, âYes, I have. He is my client. Why would you have access to his file?â
Freya could not help feeling surprised when she saw Jenniferâs attitude.
She smiled and did her best to sound polite. âI already got in touch with him before I went on leave. He is a very good client. Also, I have already come up with a proposal and quotation.â
Jennifer did not buy what she said. âReally now? I have already met Mr. Davis in person twice and the contract has been settled. Now, I am simply waiting for him to send the money.â
She looked sideways at Freya and said in a high pitched voice, âFreya, you already have Mr. Carter. Do you have to fight with me over a client?â
The moment Jennifer finished her sentence, everyone in the sales department turned and looked over.
A sales representative said, âFreya, how could you steal Jenniferâs client? Our department has always been tight-knit. How could you make the atmosphere so tense?â
Another sales representative said, âThatâs right. Mr. Carter already treats you differently. You should really focus on him instead of fighting over a client.â
Other sales representatives also chimed in and took Jenniferâs side.
Freya was not about to let Jennifer openly steal a client. She looked at everyone and said calmly, âI wasnât fighting for anything. I was just defending myself. I do not have the backing of Mr. Carter, so please mind your words.â
Jennifer scoffed. âYou already got into the manâs car, so you are not far away from getting into his bed altogether. Stop acting like a saint already!â
Freya frowned and stared at Jennifer. âHow could you say that?â
Jennifer rolled her eyes and scoffed in contempt.
More and more people started taking Jenniferâs side. The rest of the department looked at each other without saying a word.
Carol was sitting the closest to them, so she witnessed everything. She pulled Freya. âTime to work. Stop wasting your time arguing with her.â
Freya wanted to speak, but Carol pulled her back to her seat.
Carol looked at Freya and comforted her. âDonât get into an argument over a single client. Itâs not worth it. You are just falling for her trap!â
Even though Carol was comforting Freya, Jennifer had caught every word she had said.. âCarol, what is the meaning of this?â
