I'm finally back! Ãwó
How long has it been since my last update? Like months?? I explained the situation in my previous post, and I was originally planning on dropping this series, but I've seen a few comments of people who wanted me to continue!
This book has honestly grown so much while I was gone. I took the time to read each and every comment (including the questionable ones), and then I suddenly felt like I became one of those writers who started a series people got invested in and then left all of a sudden...
So, I've decided to continue it! You guys may notice a slight change in the writing style, mostly because of the new one I had developed while I was gone... hopefully, it won't affect your reading experiences! The plot will follow my original plan, and the book may be ending pretty soon. Happy reading!
(I almost forgot I started a new book in case people were interested and I'll be updating both so you can check it out if you want to!)
Your Author,
Baldie

"Won't you help us?"
From young, I'd lived like this. Everyone else depended on me, and I had to help them. I can't turn them down, after all... it's something I have to do.
I had been born from a commoner's family, though my powers were something else. Light users were rare, even in nobility, so for a commoner to manifest a power like that...
All my life, I had been surrounded by others who relied on me. The other commoners worshipped me like a god, a miracle. In the royal academy, I had gained the attention of many others. Among them, was the crown prince, Leonas.
It only further boosted my popularity... I became well-liked by the other students. It felt like my duty to please everyone, even if it meant taking a blow for them. I didn't want to, but I found myself as the centre of attention each time...
I don't want to, but I had to strive for it - perfection.
"Alisa, mind helping me out with this?" I furrowed my brows, trying to find the words to refuse.
"Actually... I-" How should I have said it? I'm busy? I don't want to help you? I can't... I couldn't say it. I ended up taking the task, watching as yet another classmate had managed to leave me with their work.
"Alisa, regarding the next year's initiation ceremony... you don't mind helping out, do you? I'm sure a diligent student like you will attract more support from the other nobles," I averted my gaze.
"Sir, with all due respect, I..." I started, glancing up to meet the principal's stern expression. "We can't do it without you, Alisa. Keep in mind... The academy needs your help, we, need your help,"
"I... I understand, sir. Leave it to me," I said as his demeanour changed immediately.
"You're a smart lady, Miss Alisa... Do not, let us down," he said, placing his hand on my shoulder before leaving me in the office.
Time and time again, event after event, problem after problem...
"The kingdom is under attack, quick!" Spell after spell, they don't ever seem to end. I'm tired, so tired...
Faced against a beast while the rest of the kingdom had already been evacuated... I glanced up at it, meeting its gaze.
"Why do you strive so hard to protect those cowards?" It questioned, its voice booming loudly.
Was it for justice? I never cared much for it.
To protect others? They mean nothing to me...
Gripping my blade in hand, I raised my head.
"I don't know,"
"Selfless fool, I pity you. You see, by protecting those cowards, you're destroying yourself slowly..."

I died in that battle. The question he asked me... I couldn't answer it in the end. I was given a second chance in life. It was as if I had turned back time, going back to my previous life.
Everything was just like I had remembered it to be. Cold, scary... the expectations I felt I had to live up to remained from my previous life.
Starting with my memories still intact, things were a breeze. However, this time... things were a little weird. That tight feeling in my chest when someone would turn to me for something... it never came.
It was a gift, to be able to feel free. In this life, I wanted to live it more selfishly... Saint? That title is one I would rather give up in order to be happy.
This time, I was going to live a nice and happy life... I want to meet someone, someone who doesn't care for my magic.
One day, it happened.
I went out to the woods, practicing the sword skills I never had much training in during my previous life. The only thing remarkable about me back then was my magic, after all.
I used my magic to obscure my face, so no one would recognise me. As I made my way further into the dense forest, I heard a few huffing sounds in a small clearing.
I saw her, a figure so perfect. She gripped onto a wooden sword tightly, slashing at some makeshift targets.
Judging from her outfit, she wasn't one of those high ranking nobles... and yet, the way she swung her sword... it wasn't like anything I'd seen before.
I approached her. She wasn't beautiful.. and she seemed familiar, but I couldn't recall where I had seen her face before.
"Hey, who are you?" She questioned, folding her arms. Watching her up close, I took some time to examine her features. That face, I've seen before.
She glanced over to my practice sword, her eyes widening a tad bit before her lips curled up.
"You're here to practice too? That's great! We can practice together," she exclaimed, taking my hand and leading me away.
She taught me her ways with the blade, and she was an expert in it. Her style was completely different from the ones I had read in the library about knights and their graceful sword movements.
She was so kind...

I arrived back home after hours of training with her. As I opened the door, my gaze locked with a certain blonde man.
"Your highness, what are you doing here?"
"I came to see if it were true... it seems I was right. Alisa Lenal, you've reincarnated too... haven't you?"
I narrowed my eyes. "That's right,"
"Then I'll be direct. I have received a warning from this 'system', of other people like us. I wish to find them, and naturally, you're joining me,"
"I don't want to,"
"Your parents had already agreed on your behalf. You are going to move to an estate closer to the royal palace ,"
"What?" I balled my fists. They agreed without telling me? Then... that girl... will I meet her again?
I had a fight with my parents that night.
"Don't you understand, Alisa? The Prince is willing to take interest in you, and even provide a decent home and money to us!"
"But mom, dad... I don't want to. Can't we reject his offer?"
"Alisa, you were so obedient when you were younger... what's gotten into you now? Rejecting the royals? Are you out of your mind?!"
"..."
"Back to your room... now,"
I head back to my room, shutting the door behind me. I'm sick of it... is it so wrong to live my life the way I want it to be? I've already sacrificed my first life... will you take away my second?
I won't let it happen.

The day of the incident came. Both of my parents were dead now, but I couldn't help but be a little happy. I had more freedom now, and I was desperate to find that girl.
The prince and I became allies... though I only tolerated him so much. I couldn't care much for others, I just wanted to find her.
The day Leonas invited me to some party, he said that I could find the girl there. He had done some digging on his own part, since he suspected something was off...
The day of the party, I saw her again. She didn't recognise me without my obscuring spell... but I'm content with it this way.
In less than a year, she had already grown a lot. She looked a little more like a face I had seen in my previous life...
Lady Alphonse's servant.
The whole situation was bizarre. To think that she was the person I'd been searching for this whole time. It didn't matter though...
In this life, all I cared for... was my little saviour.
