.
There wasnât much emotion on Jaydenâs face, his eyes looked outwardly shadowed.
The marriage between him and Jolene was arranged, they had treated each other with respect throughout their year-long marriage, they hadnât even been intimate.
They even slept separately on their wedding night because she said she was afraid.
Jayden knew she had someone else in her heart and didnât want to be intimate with him.
He didnât love her, but she was a good woman, gentle and kind. He liked her, but he could only hide his feeling.
Because he knew there was someone in her heart, she seemed gentle but she was stubborn, she kept to her lover.
How surprising was this?
It was also amusing to him, as he had never forced himself on this woman.
Many people looked at them with admiration, they were like a match made in heaven in his eyes.
Yet who knew that was anything but a false image?
He knew his wife, though not deeply. She might not be the one waiting in the room, he had never made such an invitation beforeâ¦.
But he re-entered the room despite knowing that the woman in it was not his wife.
Victoria hid back in the blanket at the sound of the door, her body trembling.
Jayden looked at the shivering body covered by the blanket on the bed in the doorway.
He didnât know if he should feel joy or sorrow.
This is a monogamous community, women were sensitive and hesitant, they could never accept a third party.
But his wife was different, she allowed him to sleep with another woman willingly.
He entered the room slowly and closed the door.
Victoria, under the blanket, shuddered more at the sound of the closed door.
She clung tightly to the blanket and was afraid he would come near.
Jayden stepped to the side of the bed and looked at the person under the blanket. Even though he knew it wasnât Jolene, he called out to her, âJolene.â
Tears came to Victoriaâs eyes and she screamed inwardly, it wasnât Jolene, it wasnât his wife, it was Victoria Forbis!
But she couldnât, she promised Jolene. She regretted her impulsive decision to save her brother and the family, but she destroyed herself.
Jayden realized how scared the woman was under the blanket, but she had no intention of leaving. He decided to sleep with this woman regardless of whether she was ugly or pretty, smart or stupid.
He started to slowly unbutton himself and said, âSince you promised, why are you humiliated?â.
Victoria was stunned, what did he mean?
Did he know it wasnât his wife under the blanket?
âYou made a deal with her so stop feeling humiliated, you did it willingly.â She felt humiliated, how could she not feel that way?
Suddenly, Victoria lifted the blanket, âYouâ¦â
She was interrupted by a body thrown over her, she fell backwards onto the fluffy bed and felt her shirt being crudely ripped open.
Victoria struggled and screamed, âIâm not your wife, Iâm notâ¦â.
The man ignored her, squeezed her head and didnât even look at her. He didnât want to hear her voice and pulled the blanket over her face. âWeâll both feel better this way.â Tears had not stopped rolling down Victoriaâs cheeks all night.
She had never been this intimate with Nathan, although he had mentioned wanting to, but she had always entertained a kiss and had claimed she wanted to wait until their wedding night.
But today, she gave herself to a man she had only seen once in a photo, she didnât even know what he looked like in real life.
It was dawn, the sun was rising. The man put his clothes next to the bed, his back to the woman, âYou have kept your words and I have completed my task.â Jolene did it out of guilt, she wanted to fulfill her wish.
Whereas he didnât mind doing it to make her feel good. He didnât want her to feel guilty.
Victoria had gone crazy on the blanket, she was drenched in tears and sweat, her face was covered in hair. âDonât you love your wife?â
âI like her,â Jayden replied pleasantly. He liked Jolene, he felt he liked her, whereas love? He thought there was no difference between liking and love.
âWhy would you do⦠this then? You love your wife, but you sleep with another woman? Didnât this hurt her?â
Victoria felt that this couple was completely crazy!
The husband claimed to love the wife, but he was sleeping with another woman.
The wife, on the other hand, was introducing a woman to the husband.
Jayden scoffed, âHow did you know I wasnât trying to make her happy?â
Victoria was astonished. What kind of wife would be happy knowing her husband was sleeping with another woman?
What kind of couple were they?
âChange the sheets and clean the bed afterwards, he likes everything neat and tidy.â He said and left.
Victoria remained sitting on the bed, she watched as the tall figure disappeared in the doorway.
She could hear that he was worried about his wife.
But why would he do that? She was puzzled.
Her body was tired, but she got up, replaced the used sheets with clean ones from the closet, and opened the window to let in fresh air. It was daylight when she finished cleaning.
The room was all bright and glowing with morning light, it was the complete opposite of the dark and depressing room from the night before.
Downstairs, Jayden saw the woman sitting on the couch and said coldly, âSatisfied?â Jolene felt guilty, âSorry.â
Jayden looked deeply at her and said indifferently, âI donât need that.â And he walked away.
Jolene stopped him at the door, âShe was different than the others, youâre going to fall in love with her.â
Jayden let out a laugh, âI can fall in love with her right away, as long as she pleases you.â
He turned around and looked at the woman under the light, her guilty look stunned him, he couldnât utter mean words. âYou introduced her to me out of guilt, and now Iâve slept with her, does that make you feel better?â
Jolene looked at him and shifted her body, âIf you donât fall in love, I wonât be with Stanley.â
That was a promise she made to him.
This was a marriage arranged by family, she had someone else in her heart, but they couldnât be together.
Looking for a better woman for him was the only thing he could do.
He had been searching for over a year and Victoria was the only one he thought was a match for him.
âIf you had met me before, him, would you fall in love with me?â he had never acted so modestly.
It was the first time he had ever put himself beneath others.
Jolene looked at him for a moment before replying, âYes.â
Jayden turned to walk away, but stopped after a step, âIf thereâs a woman Iâll fall in love with, Iâll set you free.â
