Jayden Nelsonâs behavior made Jeffery suspicious, so he sent people to follow Jaydenâs lead.
In just three days, the people following Jayden discovered that he had a thing for Victoria Forbis.
Jolene had someone with her. Since Victoria had not seen the boy before. She cried in front of him and asked to see the child.
Jayden promised to bring him in today to see him, but Mrs. Harris came and kept hugging him, he didnât get a chance to take him out. All he could do was make the excuse that he was busy with his work at the company. He went to Victoriaâs room and told her to wait another day.
He pushed open the door to the room. Victoria had been waiting and immediately got up when she heard movement. Seeing Jayden enter, she excitedly asked, âWhereâs my son?â
âI canât bring him here today,â Jayden said. âPlease wait a little while.â
Victoriaâs eyes suddenly bugged out and she lowered her head sadly. All she wanted was to see her son. She wanted nothing more than that. How could it be so hard?
She was so upset that she could actually feel the pain in her chest.
Jayden couldnât understand her feeling right now, but he could imagine how bad he felt as a parent since he had also recently become a parent.
âYou just gave birth and you canât be this upset. I promise I will surely bring the baby for you to see,â he whispered comfortingly to her as he sat down next to the bed. He reached out and draped his arm over her shoulders.
âI canât stand the feeling of not having the baby with me.â Victoria didnât want to cry, but she couldnât stop herself. The child had been growing in her womb for ten months. She had strong ties to the child and didnât want to give it to Jolene.
âItâs too late,â Jayden moaned softly.
It was all too late. Everyone already knew the child had been born to Jolene. âActually, this is good. After a while, I will divorce Jolene and the child will remain in the Nelson Family. Then weâll get married and youâll be able to see him every day.â
Victoria nodded and agreed. Even though she and Jayden didnât love each other, but it was still good to spend a lifetime with their children.
âIâve heard that crying during postpartum recovery will hurt your eyes.â Jayden wiped away tears.
Bam!
The door to the living room opened abruptly with a loud bang and the two of them looked at it almost simultaneously.
Jeffery stood in the doorway angrily. He still couldnât believe after hearing his subordinatesâ story. After all, Jolene had just delivered a baby for Jayden, how could he fool her?
But, just now, his subordinates informed him that Jayden had come back to visit that woman, so he drove here to find out. He didnât expect to see Jayden hugging that woman.
In other words, Jayden cheated by dating that woman during Joleneâs postpartum recovery.
He practically ran forward with a big stride and grabbed Jaydenâs neck, âJolene is in her month of recovery and youâ¦â
His gaze shifted to Victoria, who was sitting up in bed and still had remnants of tears on her face. To Jeffery, this was how a mistress conquered menâs hearts.
âJayden, wonât you feel guilty in front of Jolene?â Jefferyâs heart was pounding and his face was marred with rage.
Jayden stood still and said, âYouâve misunderstood us, it has nothing to do with herâ¦â
âHow can you keep defending your lover?â he was still capable of being rational. Like if he hit Jayden, he might get hurt and Jolene might notice. If not, sheâd beat him up.
He was hesitant to tell his sister about this unexpected development because she was still in her month of recovery.
The two families shared common interests and now that there was a child, the connection between them was even deeper. Even if Jayden cheated on her, it was not good to divorce as this could leave bad effects on both families and the child.
âLeave this woman, go back and enjoy a wonderful life with Jolene. If you dare to have affairs with her again, I wonât let you go at all!â He said as he tried his best to suppress his rage.
Jeffery pushed Jayden aside.
âIf you still want to survive. Youâd better wise up and leave Jayden, do you understand? â He moved to the headboard and looked at Victoria from a higher posture.
Jayden grabbed her shirt collar. âKeep it just between us. Donât mess with her.â Jefferyâs fists were clenched. How could he keep defending this woman?
âDonât take it for granted that I wonât get back at you for this. If you irritate meâ¦â
âI understand.â
âI know youâre currently in the prime of your life. There are many methods if you want to do something, but you canât hurt her,â Jayden raised his eyes.
âYou!â Jefferyâs face was terrifying.
âAre you still interested in being with Jolene?â Jeffery thought Jayden was crazy about the woman. âWhere has your sanity gone?â
Jeffery felt like heâd been struck by lightning. Was he going to give up his family for this woman?
âYouâre not a guy who isnât responsible and would reach out to another woman. Why do you find this woman so captivating?â shouted Jeffery.
He had the impression that Jayden had been charmed by this woman and now he was no longer rational or calm.
He could not be impetuous. If he made a big deal out of it, Jolene would be devastated when she found out.
âCalm down. Weâll discuss it in two days. But please donât let Jolene know first, sheâs weak now. For the sake of your newborn son, stay calm,â she said.
Jeffery left the room after saying that. In fact, he left not to calm down, but to send someone to investigate Victoria.
How could she be calm if her only sisterâs husband cheated on her when she was in the month of confinement?
How dare she steal her sisterâs husband?
Victoria held tightly to the bed sheet, as she could deduce his identity from Jefferyâs statements. She looked anxiously at Jayden, âWhat now?â
âThis is a good opportunity to divorce Jolene,â Jayden calmly told Victoria.
Then he would marry her.
âIn doing so, the two families will argueâ¦â
âI donât mind,â Jayden said as he twitched his lips, âbut we had a child in between, weâre not likely to become enemies. At most, there would be a grudge against me.â
Victoria pursed her lips as she didnât know what to say when things ended like this.
âIâm afraid itâs not safe here anymore. Iâll find you a new place to live. â Jayden was also worried about Jeffery bothering her.
Jolene was a wonderful girl and her brother shouldnât be so evil as to endanger peopleâs lives. âHeâs powerful, but he wouldnât actually kill meâ¦â
âHe and Jolene get along well, and now that he misidentifies you as my lover, he will no doubt turn on you for his sister.â Jayden was aware of the strong ties between Jeffery and Jolene.
They were the only two siblings in the Harris Family, it was only natural that they would have strong ties.
âRest first, donât catch a cold. He just left and must not come back. Iâm going to get Jolene to discuss the divorce. Donât worry about that, the boy is in good shape and youâll see him soon,â he said as he walked over to cover her with the blanket.
âBe careful,â Victoria said as she nodded. âHe looks like he knows how to do kung fu.â
âHe was serving in the army and looked scary. But really, he wonât do anything to me, and, anyway, Iâm not stupid enough not to defend myself if he hurts me. You just sleep. Iâll fix all the things,â Jayden patted her.
Victoria nodded.
Jayden closed the living room door and returned. Mrs. Harris left as well. There was only one maid to take care of Jolene while the baby slept in the crib. The baby at this stage, other than eating and excreting, was limited to spending the rest of the time sleeping.
Jolene saw his worried expression and asked, âWhatâs wrong with you? You looked upset, did something happen to Victoria?â.
