“I’d like to speak to Mr. Nelson, please let me in.” Charles was trying hard to persuade the bodyguard. However, the bodyguard was determined not to let him in. It was his duty not to let any unauthorized person in. No matter what anyone else said, he would not let them in.

Charles frowned-why was this person so stubborn?

“I have an important matter…”

“What is the important business that Mr. White has?” Matthew was standing in the hallway. He showed no expression on his face. The corners of his mouth were slightly pursed and his gaze was sharp.

His eyebrow was clearly visible even though he was in the hallway, the tension could be felt, “Mr. White has learned the truth that happened today and wants to have a talk with me?”

Charles knew it was the wrong part, so he apologized first, “It’s my fault for letting Lacey know my whereabouts…”

In fact, he wasn’t careful with Lacey, which is why Lacey could track him down so easily.

It was after Tom’s investigation that only he knew that Lacey made Dolores fall into the lake. His hands gripped the railing tightly, “Is Miss Flores all right?”

“How does Mr. White want to fix it?” Matthew didn’t reply directly to her answer. What he wanted now was an explanation.

Charles kept hoping that Lacey was just reckless and not a bad person.

Boyce could see that he doubted, and reminded him, “I think Mr. White may blindly believe that she was nice, since he has known her since she was young. He will have to investigate her background. I think there must be a surprise.”

“What do you mean?” Boyce had obviously withheld the words.

“I think you’d better ask her yourself. Ah, yes, speaking of the threat last time, I think Mr. White has some explaining to do. In general, it is Mr. White’s area. Mr. White wouldn’t hide his shortcomings, would he?” Boyce leaned against the wall and twisted his wrist, “Even if it is Mr. White’s place, we will still act and no one will be able to stop us if we decide to do so. It’s easy to make an agreement with a woman, but this is like committing a crime, shielding oneself in one’s defect is also considered a crime.” It was a threat, a threat without limits.

Charles could understand the hidden meaning. If he insisted on hiding Lacey’s shortcomings, Matthew would surely cancel their cooperation and they would become enemies as well.

He smiled bitterly, “It is my responsibility to explain the incident of Miss Flores nearly drowning. However, there must be evidence to prove that Lacey was the cause. I will definitely not hide her faults.”

He did not give up on Lacey, but this incident made him realize that Lacey was weird.

He never thought Lacey would commit such a crime.

“Is Miss Flores all right?” Charles asked again, not because the incident seemed odd to him, but he really wanted to know Dolores’ situation.

“She’s my wife. It’s none of your business.” Matthew was fed up with Charles when he was sticking it to Dolores. Taking this opportunity, he would like to let Charles know that Dolores belonged to him. Charles should not come with any strange thoughts about Dolores.

“It’s not a real man who covets other people’s woman. I think Mr. White is a sympathetic fellow and a real man.” Matthew took it in stride but Charles couldn’t think of a single word.

“Where is the person? Mr. White will lead us, won’t he?” Boyce couldn’t wait any longer to tuck Lacey in. He was very interested in her secret.

Charles took a deep breath and within his heart, he had determined that if there was evidence to show Lacey was the one in the wrong, he would not hide his faults.

“How about this, let’s wait until Miss Flores wakes up and let her arrogate Lacey on her own. Give me a little time too, if Lacey admits it, that’ll be great. If she won’t admit it, I’ll turn her over to you.” Charles would like to hear something from Lacey himself.

Boyce didn’t know how to make up his mind. He looked at Matthew.

Matthew was silent for a few moments: “I hope Mr. White can bring me some good news.”

After these words, he went into his room.

Charles raised his hand to tip Tom and push him toward the elevator.

Boyce stepped back and looked at Charles, “Goodbye, Mr. White.”

Charles was silent. After entering the elevator, Tom spoke quietly, “Miss Ward is in the villa.”

If Tom hadn’t seen the CCTV, he wouldn’t believe that Lacey pushed Dolores into the lake, “She seems to be an honest and kind person, why is she doing that?”

Charles was crestfallen. He didn’t wish Lacey was that kind of person, but the evidence was there.

She was probably also the one who committed the crime of the threatening gift.

Tom could sense that Charles didn’t want to discuss the subject, so, he shut his mouth.

After leaving the hotel, he pushed Charles into the car. In a split second, the car stopped at Charles’ villa.

Lacey went there only a few times. The last time she went there was when she met Charles and he took her there.

She sat down uneasily. Amelia was beside her and looking at her. She thought inside her heart, why did the master call her here?

Maybe it was the same feeling, Amelia could sense that Lacey loved Charles too.

However, compared to Lacey, she expected Dolores to be Charles’ wife.

She was only a maid. Although she loved Charles, she could only keep him inside her heart. In the future, Charles needed to have a marriage.

She could not say anything bad about Lacey. She just felt that Dolores was kinder and was a more perfect match for Charles.

At that moment, Tom ushered Charles in. Amelia quickly went to greet him, “Master.”

Charles was down today. He didn’t want to talk. He waved his hands to signal her to mind her own business, “Lacey, follow me.”

Then he rolled his wheelchair and headed for the study room.

Lacey got up and followed him into the study room.

In the lounge, Amelia approached Tom, “What happened to the gentleman? He looks unhappy and is thinking about something.”

Amelia was dealing with Charles’ life. Tom was Charles’ assistant for office work. They were both close to Charles and understood him well.

Tom looked at the closing door and sighed, “Miss Ward gave the teacher trouble.”

“What trouble did she give?”

Amelia stared and thought in her heart of hearts, Lacey was certainly not a perfect match for Charles.

Tom looked at Amelia, “Mind your own business, mind other people’s business.”

“But, master…”

Amelia wanted to ask more, but Tom pulled away and didn’t want to discuss the subject any further.

Charles didn’t like other people talking about his business.

Amelia pursed her mouth and began to look at Tom from behind. She thought Tom was very mean.

She thought inwardly that she would not say anything to Tom when he asked her for something in the future.

In the study room, Charles was sitting in front of his desk. He opened a file and flipped through it.

Lacey was standing in front of the desk. She didn’t dare utter a word.

After a while, Charles seemed to remember that someone else was inside the room.

Without raising his head, he asked slowly, “Where have you been today?”

“I was looking for a job.”

Lacey’s hands hanging next to her body tightened. Charles’ words made her nervous.

For no reason why Charles called her and asked such a small matter.

Charles kept his cool and didn’t look at her, “Besides that?”

“What do you really want to ask?” Lacey couldn’t take any more.

Had she heard what he had done today?

Charles put down the folder in his hands. He raised his head and looked at Lacey, “Do you have something you’d like to tell me?”

If she could tell the truth and admit it, he believed Dolores would give him a chance to move on.

Lacey laughed, “What do you want me to tell you?”

Charles frowned. He felt like he didn’t know her anymore. She wasn’t like that before. She used to be honest and kind. Why did she change to become so ridiculous?

“I’m asking for your sake.” Charles voiced his sincere words and earnest wishes.

He hoped Lacey could realize her mistakes and mend her ways.

Lacey laughed even louder. Full of irony, she said, “You’re coming to talk to me about Miss Flores, aren’t you?” Charles didn’t deny it.

“She’s married, she has children. She’s no match for you, why are you treating her so well?” Lacey put her hands on the table suddenly and leaned her body forward. That action reduced her distance from Charles. Looking into his eyes, “Yes, I saw her today and accidentally pushed her into the lake. She was at fault. She doesn’t know who she is. She’s married and seducing you. She clearly has bad intentions.” Charles leaned his body back against the back of his chair. He was disappointed.

He was disappointed in Lacey.

“How do you know she’s seducing me?”

“She’s married and entangling you on purpose. If you don’t call it seduction, what do I call it?” Lacey was talking this loud, she thought what she was saying was correct and could not be refuted.

Charles laughed, “How do you know I’m not the one entangling her…?”

“You’re not that kind of person. She must be the one seducing you.” Lacey interrupted Charles before he finished his words.

She was stubborn, as if she had a mental illness.

Charles did not wish her to judge Dolores with prejudice. He had a responsibility to tell her the truth.

“I tell you seriously that Miss Flores has never entangled me. It is I who entangle her. She is different from many women I have seen. She’s the most special woman I’ve ever met. I like her. Even knowing she’s married, I can’t control falling in love with her. If you want to blame someone, please blame me. Please don’t hurt her. You’d better admit your guilt this time, she’ll forgive you…”

“Charles!” Lacey was triggered. She couldn’t believe and wasn’t willing to believe Charles’ words, “She seduced you? How could you possibly like her?”

“Why can’t I like him?” Charles lost his patience.

The oil and salt couldn’t get in, the stubbornness, the not knowing right from wrong, he couldn’t use anything to describe her anymore.

It was scarier than walking into a dead end.

“She’s not the perfect match for you!” yelled Lacey.

Charles thought Lacey had flipped out while Lacey thought Charles had flipped out.

“She is pretty, kind, understanding, has her own job, has her own occupation, independent, while I am a crippled person, a poor person being adopted, why isn’t she the perfect match for me? I think it’s me who is not the perfect match for her.”

“No, no…” Lacey shook her head hard and grabbed Charles’ arm, “Charles, you have blinded yourself for her. She must not be your beloved…”

Charles calmly looked at her madness and out of control behavior, and sneered, “Then you will be my beloved?”
