Theresa hesitated, âIâ¦â
âYou heard our conversation?â Armand showed a bad expression. He didnât want the others to know about his past.
Theresa wanted to explain that she hadnât heard him on purpose, but was frightened when confronted with his cold face. Without knowing why, she feared Armand would be angry, âI just came back, what do you say? Mistress Leslie asks me to asked somewhere else on purpose, are you talking about me?â
Armand showed a calmer expression, âYes, she wants me to treat you well. By the way, why are you coming back without buying anything?â
âI left in a hurry, I didnât have any money on me,â Theresa slipped out of his sight. She was uncomfortable and embarrassed by her lie of a moment ago.
However, Armand thought she was embarrassed. He curved his lips and pulled the wallet out of his pocket, handed it to her, âHere you go.â
Theresa looked at him, âJust giving me 100 yuan is enough, you donât need to give me the wallet.â
Armand looked at her and put the wallet in her hand, âWe are a couple, mine is yours.â
Theresa looked at him, her fingers curled unconsciously.
Armand smiled, âAre you moved by this trivial matter? I havenât given you all my property, youâre too much of a pushover.â
Theresa stared at him, âI want to leave now.â
âAgreed.â
Armand watched her leave, closed the door and walked into the living room. Just then his phone rang. He pulled out his phone and flashed Boyceâs name. He took the call. Armand spoke first before Boyce said anything, âHas the asshole died?â.
âHeâs not going to die, heâs in the operating room now. How is Mrs. Leslie?â Boyce made this call with the goal of finding out Mrs. Leslieâs situation.
Armand pulled the chair next to the bed and sat down, âNothing serious, just a small wound. The doctor says she can go home after an overnight observation.â
âOkay,â Boyce didnât hang up the call after saying that, he had something to tell, but he stopped as he thought better of it.
âSay what you want, why are you so hesitant?â
âActually, itâs Dolores who is asking me to make this call,â Boyce thought he should tell Armand after thinking about it for a while, âDolores might think that the incident happened because of her. Sheâs worried about Mrs. Leslie. So she wants me to inquire about her situation by calling you.â
Armand knew the incident had nothing to do with Dolores.
No one expected Mistress Leslie to show up and Sampson to kidnap her.
Besides, Dolores risked her life to save Mistress Leslie.
âIt has nothing to do with her, I know that clearly.â
âVery well, after we settle everything here, I will visit Mistress Leslieâ¦â
âNo need, everyone is exhausted after the incident. You should get a good rest and we have to leave tomorrow. Itâs the end of the year. Youâve been gone a long time and youâll have some explaining to do to the unit when you get back.â Boyce answered and hung up the call.
Armand pocketed the phone after hanging up the call, Mistress Leslie looked at him and asked, âWho called you?â
âItâs Boyce. Heâs asking me about your situation. I told him youâre fine,â Armand covered Mistress Leslie with the blanket, âLet bygones be bygones, donât tell Theresa about my parentsâ affair.â
âSheâs not oblivious,â Mrs. Leslie thought there was no need to hide it.
âItâs very embarrassing, I donât want her to know,â Armand showed a bad expression.
He changed his expression every time his past was mentioned.
Mrs. Leslie thought it was not an embarrassing matter, it was not his fault, âSo, you want to hide it forever? Sheâs your wife, sheâs the one who has to get along with you forever. You have to trust her. It doesnât matter whether she believes you or not, you have to have the right attitude. What is the worst part of a marriage? The worst part is mistrust.â
Although Mrs. Leslie was old, she was smart. She had lived a few decades, she knew everything.
âWeâll see. After I get ready,â Armand was reluctant to discuss the subject further. He purposely distracted the conversation, âYou must be tired, right? Get a good rest.â Mrs. Leslie became concerned about his attitude, âYouâre married, what do you want to prepare already, do you still miss Phoebe?â
âNo, why are you mentioning her?â Armand thought Mistress Leslie was weird. She was talking about her parents and her first love, what did she want to do?
âGrandma, are you uncomfortable? If so, Iâll ask the doctor to comeâ¦â
âAre you cursing me?â Madame Leslie slapped Armand.
Armand lowered the volume, âThen why do you keep talking about the past?â
Mistress Leslie spoke seriously, âI care about you!â
Armand covered Mistress Leslie with the blanket, âIâm not a little boy anymore, I know what I should do. My big concern is your health.â
Mistress Leslie sighed and gave him a warning, âArmand, Iâm telling you I like Theresa. No matter what happens in the future, no matter who you meet, you must not change your love for Theresa.â
âI know, donât worry,â Armand didnât worry much, Mistress Leslie was always like that.
She liked to scold.
After a while, Theresa brought some food and put it on the table, âIâm not familiar with this area, I went a little far to buy this.â
After putting the food down, she handed the wallet to Armand, âYour wallet.â
âKeep it for me,â Armand didnât get it, he took the spring rolls she had bought and popped two into his mouth. She chewed a couple of times and swallowed.
He drank some water, âStay here to keep my grandmother company, I have something to sort out.â
Theresa agreed.
When Armand left, Theresa adjusted her bed and took the porridge. Theresa sat in the chair and fed Mistress Leslie, âHave some porridge, Mistress Leslie.â Mistress Leslie smiled and opened her mouth.
She could move, but she just wanted Theresa to wait on her.
Theresa held out the porridge. She fed Mistress Leslie after making sure the porridge was not hot.
Theresa gave Mrs. Leslie a tissue to wipe her mouth. Mistress Leslie just lay there and didnât move, she enjoyed being served by Theresa.
âWhy do you think Armand went out?â Mistress Leslie asked.
Theresa commanded the table, âI donât know.â
âThen why donât you ask him?â Mrs. Leslie asked coyly.
Theresa didnât mind so much, she didnât even think about Mistress Leslieâs question. She tossed the bowl into the trash can, âDoesnât he say he has something to work out? There must be something to deal with, he knows what he has to do. Donât worry.â
Theresa thought Mistress Leslie was worried about Armand. She washed her hand and adjusted the bed so Mistress Leslie could rest, âIâll stay here, you can call me if you need me. I should sleep now.â
Mistress Leslie was really tired after talking a lot. She was pleased with Theresaâs attitude.
She did not ask Armandâs whereabouts, she had to trust him completely.
But Armand concealed his affair and concealed it from her.
Mrs. Leslie could not help but sigh.
Armand left the room and pulled out his phone. He called Boyce.
The call was answered instantly.
âWhere are you?â
âAt the hospital,â Boyce felt uncomfortable, he had said he was saving Sampson on the previous call.
âIâm asking what hospital youâre at. Iâll see you now,â Mrs. Leslie was being attended to by Theresa, so Armand had some free time to get back at Sampson.
