Matthew returned to the room. Dolores was sitting next to the bed, her back to him.

“Do you want to go back?”

Matthew stood by the door, not entering the room. He cast a silent glance behind him. Throughout the conversation, he never asked her if there were any secrets between her and Victoria.

Because if she wanted to tell, she would have said so at the beginning. She wasn’t going to keep it from him until now.

“If you want, I can do you this favor.” His voice was soft.

Dolores stood up, turned around and looked at him, “It’s just that I don’t want your relationship with your relatives to be too rigid.”

Matthew didn’t answer her, “It’s already late. Go to bed first.”

Dolores approached him, “Are you angry?”.

Matthew looked at her and said after a while, “No”.

As the Chinese New Year approached, the place was bustling and lively. All the families were pasting rhyming couplets and hanging big red lanterns in front of their doors. The Chinese New Year atmosphere was strong.

Dolores went to the store early the next morning. Because of the Chinese New Year celebration, she wanted to give everyone permission for Chinese New Year so they could get a good night’s rest during this time.

Theresa just sat in her seat without saying anything. Dolores received Armand’s call the night before and was worried that they would have an argument. She walked over to Theresa and sat down next to her, “Are you and Armand still okay?”.

Theresa looked somber and said lightly, “Not bad.”

She didn’t want to talk about the problem between her and Armand. At the time she was ready to marry him. Now they were having problems in their relationship. She wanted to solve the problem herself.

Dolores patted her on the shoulder, “Let me know if you need anything.”

Theresa said with a smile, “Okay.”

Allison came in just then, “Theresa, there’s a woman outside who wants to see you.”

Woman?

Who?

“Maybe she’s one of our clients. She’s specifically looking for you. So, I can’t block her, can I?” Allison gave Theresa a vague wink.

That someone wanted to meet her meant she recognized her design.

Theresa stood up, “Then I’ll go see her.”

“Go ahead.” Dolores waved her hand.

Theresa walked down the stairs. All the clothes in the window were covered because they feared they would be covered with dust during this period.

When the store reopened, they had to clean it every day.

Phoebe took a seat on the sofa for the guests. She turned around when she heard footsteps and saw Theresa walking toward her.

When Theresa realized it was Phoebe, her footsteps faltered. But she was back to normal in no time. It was obvious that Phoebe had come to show off.

She might lose, but she couldn’t lose her charisma.

Theresa kept the smile on her face, “Hi, are you here to find someone to make you clothes?”

Phoebe smiled too, “I think you know who I am, are you available? I’m buying, how about we have coffee together?”.

Theresa euphemistically declined, “Sorry. I still have something to take care of. I’m afraid I won’t be able to have coffee with you.”

“You’re afraid of me.” Phoebe purposely provoked Theresa.

Theresa frowned, “What am I afraid of you?”.

“Why won’t you have coffee with me if you’re not afraid of me?”

“We haven’t met, why do I have to have coffee with you?” Theresa asked a question in response.

“Indeed, we’ve only met a couple of times. But, don’t forget, I’m Armand’s girlfriend…”

“Ex-girlfriend,” Theresa reminded her.

Phoebe smiled slightly, “Okay. Even though I’m his ex-girlfriend, we used to be in love. Now you’re his wife. We’ve had the same man – how can you claim it has nothing to do with me?”

“You can say whatever you want.” Theresa remained stubborn throughout.

This woman was repulsive and frightening to her.

“All right.” Phoebe sat back down on the couch, “It’s all the same to say anything.”

Theresa looked at her, “What do you mean, you want to share your love story with Armand? I’m sorry, but I’m not interested. I’m sorry, but I can’t help you if you’re not here to find someone to make your clothes. And, we’re on leave. If you need help, come here after Chinese New Year.” Theresa turned and headed upstairs after saying.

“Do you know about Armand’s parents?” Theresa paused. She heard Mrs. Leslie mention it with Armand at the hospital at the time.

It seemed to her that Armand was very repulsive about it. She didn’t know the details.

“You two are husband and wife. He hasn’t even told you anything about his parents?” Phoebe was well aware that Armand didn’t want other people to know.

She was betting that Armand wouldn’t tell Theresa about his parents.

As long as Armand wouldn’t tell Theresa about her parents, she would sow discord between them if she brought up the subject.

Theresa gripped the railing, and held it tighter continuously. Hiding was the most taboo thing between husband and wife.

It was clear that Armand didn’t trust her. He never brought up the subject with Theresa.

Theresa thought their relationship was quite good.

However, their relationship was very fragile.

Their relationship broke up only because his ex-girlfriend showed up.

Although her heart ached now, she did not show it to Phoebe.

“Of course, I know what happened to her.” Theresa tried to cover it up and pretended to be calm in front of Phoebe to hide the fact that she knew nothing about Armand’s parents.

Phoebe stared at her and smiled as if she had seen through it all, “You know?

Then tell me how his parents died.”

Theresa looked back at Phoebe, “Don’t you already know, why do you want to ask me?”

Phoebe smiled, “You’re fooling yourself. You can lie to yourself, but you can’t lie to your relationship with Armand. I’m going to be honest with you. The reason I came back this time is to get back together with him.”

Theresa’s heart filled with countless ripples, “You should tell Armand these words.”

“Of course, I will tell him. And we have a date tonight.” Phoebe looked at her, “Let’s see who cares more.”

Phoebe turned and left as she finished speaking.

Theresa stood on the stairs as her situation now. She couldn’t move up or down, and she was stuck in the middle. She felt terrible until she couldn’t breathe.

She wanted to have faith in her relationship with Armand.

But obviously their relationship was not only fragile, but they lacked the most basic mutual trust.

She wanted to trust Armand. But Phoebe’s successive questions revealed that Armand didn’t even trust her.

“Have you come looking for someone to design clothes for you?” Allison turned to the first floor.

Theresa said with a stiff expression, “You’ve got the wrong person.”

Allison frowned, “What person?”

Theresa didn’t explain anything hurried down the stairs, “Tell Lola I’ll go first.”

She ran out of the store before she could get Allison’s answer. She stopped a car on the side of the road and headed for the law firm.

He wanted to ask Armand clearly. If he really wanted to get back together with Phoebe, he should tell her and not hurt her by his concealment.

Her thoughts were racing as she was on her way, and she had a long list of things she wanted to tell Armand.

She wanted Armand to be aware of her worries and fears in her heart.

It didn’t take long for the car to stop in front of the law firm. Theresa got out of the car after paying the fee.

It just so happened that Armand was hurrying out of the law office when she wanted to get in, and he seemed to have something urgent to deal with.

“Armand,” Theresa called out to him.

“Why are you here?” Armand turned to her.

“I’ve come looking for you. I have some questions for you and something to tell you,” Theresa said.

“I have something to take care of right now, can you go to the office and wait for me?”

Theresa’s heart suddenly sank. Her body swayed uncontrollably as if she was going to collapse in the next second.

What was she going to do, was she going to meet Phoebe?

Theresa wanted to make herself look better. She didn’t want to lower her status in front of him. Still, she felt like she’d been heartbroken.

“It’s freezing outside. You go in first. I’ll be back soon.” Armand patted him on the shoulder. He got into the car and was gone before Theresa could say anything.
