âUm.â Victoria answered him weakly.
âAre you willing to stop?â Dolores asked impatiently.
Victoria let out a deep sigh and shook her head. âNo, it looks like youâre going to find out Matthewâs identity, but I wonât let you continue your investigation.â
Dolores was about to say that Matthew knew when the phone on the dining room table vibrated.
It displayed Boyce Shawnâs phone number.
Dolores looked at Victoria, âIâll make a call first.â
She got up and walked over to the window, pressing the answer button, âHello?â
âItâs me. I found out what Matthew asked me to look into.â
She felt nervous and straightened her back, âGo ahead.â
âIt wonât be over in a sentence or two. Letâs meet and talk,â Boyce said.
She thought a moment and said, âOkay.â
gⱯlnÏνð®ðsâ¤ð¸Ð¾m hosts thrilling adventures After hanging up the phone, she put it in her pocket, walked to the dining room and saw that Victoria was looking at the sea cucumbers inside the bowl.
She smiled and asked, âMom, youâre hungry too, arenât you?â
As he spoke, she went to the kitchen, grabbed a clean bowl and poured him his own sea cucumber. âDonât worry, itâs untouched.â
Victoria grabbed his hand, âIâm not hungry, you eat it, look how thin you are. You shouldnât get into this mess.â Dolores said yes.
Thinking about Matthewâs character, she wanted nothing to do with Charles.
Victoria went into the house while Dolores held her breath and swallowed the sea cucumbers, then drank some water and came out after putting on her clothes.
Boyce sent her the address where they would meet and she drove there.
It was a bar and there werenât many people inside since it was daytime. It was quiet and he was drinking in his seat.
When he saw her come in, he asked her, âWhat do you want to drink?â.
âJust a juice.â She sat down.
He asked the waiter to pour her a glass of juice. She looked at him and asked, âWhy did you choose this place?â.
âItâs quiet at this hour and I want to have a drink too.â He took a sip of his drink.
When he set the glass down, he didnât take it back, fiddling with it, âWithout shame you couldnât describe how nasty and insidious people are.â
She asked him cautiously, âAre you irritated?â
If not, how could he feel that emotion.
He said nothing, but handed her the bag of files he had placed on the table, âRead it yourself.â
She probably guessed what was inside in his mind.
Seeing her expression, he feared the matter was not good.
He opened the file with curiosity and some apprehension.
There were a dozen pages of information about Phoebe Lewisâ past and a few photos inside.
The photos showed Phoebeâs image and the scene of her and a man going in and out of high class places.
She put the photos down and examined the documents inside.
He read page by page. The more he read, the more his heart sank.
Armand Bernie said that Phoebe had told him she had left because she couldnât give birth and didnât want to implicate him. However, he glanced at the number of times she had gone to the hospital for an abortion over the years.
âHow can she be so brazen, is she still a woman?â Boyce grimaced. If it werenât for what sanity he had left that told him good men didnât fight with women, he would have gone to beat her and asked her how she could be so shameless.
She had left for a rich man the last time.
Sheâd become someone elseâs mistress!
The more Boyce thought about it, the angrier he became.
What angered him was not that she had done those things, but that she would go back to Armand after she had done them.
Did he want Armand to be the consolation?
After reading the last page, Dolores threw the document on the table knowing why Phoebe would come back. It was none other than the fact that she was already old and decrepit, plus that man had married a wife, so she gave up hope and went back to try to get Armand back.
Boyce loaded up the papers, âI have to go get Armand before he gets cheated on.â
âWait.â She called out to him.
âIt wonât be significant if you just go and tell him, instead of him finding out himself!â She narrowed her eyes.
That man seemed to be very rich, otherwise he wouldnât have been able to keep a mistress for so long, since keeping a woman was a waste of money.
She thought Matthew might know this man, as he knew some rich people.
After she had a countermeasure in her mind, she looked at him and said, âI will go first.â
He said, âDonât forget to call me.â
She also wanted to see how Armand would look when he realized Phoebeâs true colors.
Dolores said, âI knew it.â
She got in the car and didnât go to the store, but went to find Matthew.
Matthew was in a meeting, so she went to his office to wait for him.
The large, sunny space made her feel comfortable in it. She walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows and gazed out over the busy part of town. Even in the daytime, it was still as bright as the rainbow, without the depiction of neon lights.
The light from outside fell in circles and she touched it. Unfortunately, no one could catch the light.
When she finished her meeting and pushed the door open, she saw the woman standing in the halo with her slender back, as if she were the heroine of a comic book.
He lightened his steps and walked over to her, hugging her from behind as his chin dropped to her shoulder, âDo you miss me?â
She didnât move, âDo you know a man named Cody Day?â
She didnât know Cody, but she had heard of him since she knew his father.
Matthew buried his face in her long hair, muffling a sound, âWhy did you ask about him?â
She looked back at him and said earnestly, âI want him to meet Phoebe Lewis.â
They had been together a long time and it was natural for them to interact when they saw each other.
If Armand saw it with his own eyes, it would be more convincing than any proof.
Soon Matthew understood, âBoyce checked him out?â
âUm.â He answered him and told what Boyce had found out. Matthew had no change in his expression and said casually, âIâll fix it.â
He didnât like to deal with such matters, but it was related to Doloresâ friend and his own friend, so he had to step in.
She was confident she could fix it right and said earnestly, âThank you.â
His hand fumbled inside her clothes and gently pinched the flesh of her waistband as he said in a low, husky voice, âHow would you like to thank me?â
She felt itchy and twisted her body, earnestly reminding him, âHereâs company for you, your office. Do you want to lose your image in case anyone sees?â
âNo one will just walk in.â He stifled a laugh, âAre you willing to have sex with me in here?â
She was speechless.
How could he be so brazen to this extent?
She was unwilling and refused, âI donât want to lose my image.â
He deliberately bit down hard on her neck and she cried out in pain instinctively, âAh!â
Soon she closed her mouth again, clenched her fists and kept pounding his chest. He didnât move, like an immovable mountain. Suddenly, he caught both of her restless hands, lifted them above her head, pinned her against the window and kissed her lipsâ¦.
As she struggled, he bit her hard. This made her grunt in pain.
He laughed, âYou can scream all you want.â
She knew he was doing it on purpose and glared at him with hatred.
Elsewhere, Theresa Gordon was vomiting severely. Almost everything she ate she threw up. She was vomiting acidic saliva when she had nothing in her stomach and no strength at all. She had no choice but to go to the hospital and let the doctor see if he could prescribe some anti-emetic medication.
The doctor prescribed vitamin B6. As he was about to go down to the pharmacy to pick up the medication, he passed by the orthopedic department and saw Armand coming out of there with Phoebe.
The hallway was empty and there was no place to hide, even if she wanted to.
âDoes it still hurt?â he asked her with concern.
Phoebe shook her head, âIâve worried youâ¦â. She swallowed what she was about to say at the sight of Theresa and gripped her arm tighter.
Seeing that Phoebe was still staring straight ahead, she looked up and saw Theresa standing there.
