âMaâam.â Abbott Baron opened the car door for Dolores Flores. Dolores looked at him and was a little surprised, âWhy are you here?â.
âMr. Nelson asked me to be here.â Abbott said.
Step into a new journey on galnovels .con Matthew asked Abbott to come first to find someone to serve them and arrange an expert for Jessica Lennon. Besides, they didnât have to wait too long.
âPlease come with me, Iâve arranged everything.â Abbott led the way.
Dolores held Jessicaâs arm and followed Abbott to the hospital. Instead of standing in line, they went straight up. There were quite a few people in the outpatient services center. Abbott went into the office and talked to the doctor for a while, then sent Jessica to the office.
Jessica had little time to stay out, so they had to get all the tests done as soon as possible.
Abbott had already talked to the director and everything was well arranged, they just had to let the doctor know.
Jessica cooperated with everything she was told, but she just had to stay alone in the clinic.
Even Dolores was not allowed to stay inside the room.
âMom, why canât I be there?â Dolores didnât understand. âAre you hiding something from me?â
âHow could I?â Jessica looked at her calmly, without any emotion. âOther people may not know who I am, but you do. I just want to be here alone, so I can better talk to the doctor about my condition. I came to the hospital with you, how can I hide anything from you?â
âI didnât mean to.â Dolores was trying to explain.
âIf so, wait for me outside.â Jessica told her calmly and didnât get angry at all, but she looked quite uncomfortable.
Dolores didnât insist on staying, just told her she would wait for her outside and then went out.
Jessica was accused of being a delinquent at the time. Dolores thought she might think too much about her problem, so she finally went out and didnât want to cause her any more worries.
After seeing the door close, Jessica sat back in the chair and looked at the doctor, âIâm sorry to have bothered you.â
The doctor replied that it was fine, that was his job.
âI know my physical condition.â The reason Jessica was here was so Dolores wouldnât worry.
âI have a brother who died of lung cancer.â
The doctor noted the patientâs history of family illness, then asked, âWhat about your parents?â
âMy father had cancer.â
Then, when she didnât feel well, she guessed the result. The doctor looked up, âSo you doubt that you also have cancer?â Jessica nodded.
âSheâs my daughter; I donât want her to know anything about it. Can you give me a false test result saying Iâm fine no matter what the result is?â
The doctor wasnât sure what to do, so at first he could only reply, âYes. Iâll give you a list of tests.â He then wrote down the detailed instructions on the prescription.
âWhen might I get the results if I do the tests now?â asked Jessica.
The doctor was thinking through the whole process, as she doubted she might have cancer, so she had to run a series of tests, some of which might take longer to get results. Considering that they had the relationship with the management level, so she might be able to do all the tests for her as soon as they could. So, at least it took, âOne week.â
âNo matter what the result looks like, please deliver a good status report to my daughter.â Jessica feared the doctor would forget her request, so she stressed it once again.
The doctor nodded and handed her the prescription, âGo get the tests.â
Jessica took it and nodded, âThank you.â
She opened the office door and stepped out; Dolores was just outside the door waiting for her.
Dolores quickly walked toward her after seeing Jessica.
Jessica had a soothing smile, âThe doctor said it shouldnât be a serious problem, we just need to run some tests. Letâs go together.â Dolores said yes.
Abbott followed them, because they told the director ahead of time, they had full priority on the tests, blood draw and x-raysâ¦. It took them 2 hours to finish all the tests they needed.
Now, they just have to wait for the results.
âYou guys can go back first; Iâll go get the report.â Abbott said.
Dolores thought about it, âAbbott is familiar with the people here, itâs okay if he can get the result.â
âOkay, weâll go back first.â
Dolores prepared to take Jessica back.
As Abbott was about to take the report, the doctor who received Jessica a moment ago approached him.
The doctor didnât dare lie to Abbott.
âI want to talk to you about the patient.â
Abbott paused, âYes, please.â
âShe felt she had cancer, as her father and brother had a history of cancer. And her brother died of it. So itâs quite possible that she also has genetic cancer.â
âAre you sure the cancer could be genetic?â asked Abbott earnestly.
The doctor replied solemnly, âIf she has it, then yes, it is genetic.â
Abbott said he understood.
Now he finally understood why Jessica asked Dolores to stay outside.
âBesides, she wanted me to keep it from her daughterâ¦â
âI know, Iâll take care of this.â Abbott said.
âOkay.â The doctor turned around, âI have other patients waiting for me, excuse me.â
âThank you.â Abbott said.
The doctor shook his hand and put his hands in the pocket of the white coat and headed toward the clinic.
Abbott headed for the stairwell that was less crowded and quieter. She called Matthew.
No matter what the outcome, she thought it would be best to report everything to Matthew first.
Matthew was lying there hugging Simona face to face. Simona put her arms around Matthewâs neck and was talking to him. âDaddy, can Grandma live with us when she comes back?â
The little girl tilted her head and asked very seriously.
Matthew pinched her little nose, âItâs up to you.â
âThen Iâll ask Grandma to stay with me. Then we can live together and Iâll be the happiest girl in the world.â
At that moment, Matthewâs phone rang.
He held his daughter with one hand and pulled out the phone with the other. It was Abbottâs. He answered and held the phone to his ear.
âThe lady is out of the hospital with Jessica.â said Abbott to Matthew as soon as it connected.
Matthew hummed.
âJessicaâ¦â Abbott didnât know how to say it, he tried to phrase it correctly, âShe has a family medical history of cancer. If she has it and it was genetic, then Mrsâ¦.â
âIf itâs really genetic, then Dolores and her childrenâ¦â
Matthew clenched the phone tightly and narrowed his eyes, not expecting the news.
He lowered his voice, âI know.â
It wasnât the darkest time, if Jessica didnât have it, then it wasnât genetic.
They could wait for the results to come back.
After ending the call, Matthew tossed the phone aside. His fingertip lifted his daughterâs jaw and looked at her closely. She had bright, clear, pure eyes, they looked like shining stars. Her beautiful face was like that of a doll, which was so adorable.
Matthew kissed her forehead and hugged her.
She was like an angle; the god would not deprive her of health. âDaddy â¦â
