Sean kept his head down, disappointed.

Marina thought he was frustrated because of Chloe.

She hugged her son and comforted him, “Although things are a bit complicated, I will try my best to help you.”

Sean turned his head and looked at Marina with gloomy eyes, but in the end he said nothing.

Marina thought long and hard about it. It was clear to her how stubborn Jeffery was and how much he cared about his deceased sister, so it would be impossible for her to detach herself from this matter. She could only try to convince Mrs. Chambers and Chloe.

After thinking about it, Marina looked at her son earnestly and asked, “If you knew Chloe, how confident would you be in courting her?”

How confident would you be?

He had no interest in her, OK?

Why did he have to be sure?

If he was really interested, he would have done it a long time ago, why would he wait until now?

But he couldn’t tell Marina the truth. He pretended to hesitate, as if he lacked confidence, “I think there’s a fifty-fifty chance.”

Marina made up her mind immediately, “Fifty percent is more than enough. I’ll go see the Chambers Family and bring Chloe here.”

This way, Sean would have a chance to express his feelings to Chloe.

If Sean could be with Chloe, Jeffery would no longer be able to force Matthew to marry Chloe. He understood better than Jeffery, that Matthew would never marry Chloe. Even if he did it for Dolores’ sake, they would not have a good ending.

Marina didn’t really want to keep this from her son, but she had her concerns, too. In the end, she said nothing. She got up, went to change and went out.

As a mother, she was selfish.

Since they were all in the same neighborhood, it didn’t take Marina long to get to the Chambers Family home. As she was about to knock on the door, her phone rang.

She pulled out the phone and answered the call.

Eddie’s anxious voice was heard on the other end of the call, “Is that Marina?”.

“Hurry and come to People’s Hospital #2. Jeffery has fainted. He’s been sent to the ER now…”

Marina’s mind went blank – had Jeffery fainted? Had he been sent to the emergency room?

She was so scared she didn’t know if she should step forward or back.

The phone in her hands was still connected to the call.

“Marina, are you listening?”

Marina came to her senses and replied, “Yes, I heard you. I’m coming right now.”

After being married for so many years, she still had feelings for Jeffery. Aside from being stubborn, as well as not being gentle or romantic, Jeffery was considered a good husband, as he was honest and loyal to her.

He came from a military background and had a tough physique. He had medical check-ups twice a year and had kept himself healthy. Why did he suddenly collapse and end up in the hospital?

Marina stopped a cab at the entrance to the neighborhood. She had completely forgotten about her promise to Sean.

Now all she could think about was Jeffery.

She was afraid something might happen to him. After all, he had been physically fine. It was too sudden for him to be admitted to the hospital.

The cab arrived at the hospital after a while. Marina opened the door in fright and got out. The driver shouted, “Hey, you haven’t paid yet.”

Only then Marina remembered. She turned around and passed a hundred yuan to the driver and apologized, “Sorry, I forgot because I was in a hurry.”

The kind cab driver replied, “Don’t worry, I understand.”

Nothing good must have happened for someone who had to rush to the hospital.

The cab driver handed her the change through the window. Marina said, “Keep the change.” Then she immediately went into the hospital.

The cab driver smiled and happily put the money back in his wallet and left the hospital.

When Marina arrived at the emergency room, Jeffery had not yet left. Eddie was sitting on the bench waiting alone.

Marina hurried toward him. Before she reached Eddie, his voice reached her first. “What’s wrong with him? He’s always been healthy, why did he suddenly faint?”

Eddie got up from the bench and comforted Marina, who looked very worried, “Don’t be anxious first.”

“How can I not be anxious?” Marina couldn’t control her emotions. Jeffery was sent to the emergency room, so how could she not be worried?

“Tell me. Why did he faint? He’s always been healthy.”

It was only a matter of time before Marina learned the truth, so Eddie didn’t plan to hide from her, “Today, Jeffery and I met with Matthew. We wanted to talk about his marriage to Chloe. Matthew agreed, but he wanted to draw a line with the Harris family. Jeffery got too agitated and that’s why he fainted.”

Marina knew that Jeffery really cared about Matthew, so she could understand Jeffery having a hard time accepting the fact that Matthew wanted to draw a line with the Harris family. But… Had Matthew agreed to marry Chloe?

Now he only remembered his promise to Sean.

He pulled out his phone and called his son. Since Sean was reluctant to contact his family, Marina didn’t have his cell phone number, so she could only dial the landline number at home.

The phone rang for quite a while, but no one answered the phone.

Sean went straight to the Chambers Family home after waiting for Marina for a long time. But he didn’t find Marina there either.

“Your mother hasn’t come, why don’t you call her?” Mrs. Chambers told him sincerely.

Sean smiled and said, “Actually, it’s nothing urgent. By the way, is Chloe home?”.

Mrs. Chambers replied, “Yes, she is.”

She stepped aside to let Sean into the house. Mrs. Chambers liked Sean, knowing that he was about the same age as Chloe and that they had similar family backgrounds. Since they had grown up together, they knew each other.

Mrs. Chambers looked at him and said, “Sean, how do you like Chloe?”

He had been coming to visit quite often lately and was always looking for Chloe. Today, he said he was coming to look for Marina, but ended up asking about Chloe. To Mrs. Chambers, he was just using the excuse to get close to Chloe.

Sean was stunned for a moment. He hadn’t expected Mrs. Chambers to ask him this question.
