âI apologize for the abruptness.â After asking, Mrs. Chambers also felt she was being too abrupt. âDid I startle you?â
Sean shook his head and looked at Mrs. Chambers seriously, âWas it that obvious?â.
For a moment, Mrs. Chambers didnât know what he was referring to. She paused for a second and said, âYou, do you really like my daughter Chloe?â.
Sean scratched his head and acted as if he was embarrassed, âHow ridiculous is that?â.
Mrs. Chambers quickly waved her hand and said, âNo, no. Iâm not that old-fashioned.
At this age, you and Chloe should be in a relationship by now.â
Sean had been single. As for Chloe, she was too picky, so she had never had a boyfriend as well.
Mrs. Chambers did not feel abrupt about Sean suddenly expressing his feelings today.
On the contrary, she felt that this was fate for both of them.
Sean hadnât expected Mrs. Chambers to be so supportive of him and Chloe being together.
Didnât she know that Eddie wanted Chloe to marry Matthew?
gαâηÏνððsâ¤Ã§om has it all Mrs. Chambers smiled, âChloe is upstairs. You can go get her yourself, you know where her room is anyway.â
Eddie didnât tell his wife because he didnât think she needed to know. However, Mrs. Chambers was aware of this matter.
Eddie didnât tell her, and neither did Chloe. In fact, she heard it when Chloe told Eddie.
But she did not want Chloe to marry Matthew.
Eddie proclaimed that marrying Chloe to Matthew was for the good of the Chambers Family, but Mrs. Chambers knew he had something else in mind.
Eddie had hidden this secret deep in his heart.
Yet she had maintained a relationship with him for so many years, so how could she not realize what was going through her husbandâs mind?
Sean was stunned. He hadnât expected Mrs. Chambers to be so open-minded and willingly let him go find Chloe in her room.
âIâ¦â
Sean wasnât sure if Mrs. Chambers was probing him, or if she was being honest about it.
âLook at you. Iâve watched you grow up since you were a kid, how could I not believe in you?â Mrs. Chambers smiled and spoke.
Sean nodded, âThen Iâm going to go find Chloe.â
Mrs. Chambers waved her hand. She watched Sean as he walked up the stairs, and a slight twinkle passed through her eyes. She wasnât going to let Eddie trust Matthew with her daughter.
She was thinking of a way to stop Eddie, and Sean appeared at just the right moment.
As Sean walked to the second floor, he inadvertently glanced at Mrs. Chambers. Their families were on good terms, and they visited each other often. In his impression, Mrs. Chambers was a virtuous wife. However, she and Eddie did not seem to be very close, but at least they were courteous to each other.
Mrs. Chambers would never refuse Eddieâs request. Therefore, since she willingly allowed him to contact Chloe, she must not have known that Eddie really wanted Chloe to marry Matthew.
After all, the matter was not yet closed. Eddie and Jeffery probably wouldnât go around and let everyone know.
Maybe Eddie wanted to wait until things were finalized before telling her.
But it was fortunate that Mrs. Chambers didnât know. Otherwise, it would be hard for him to get a chance to get close to Chloe.
Sean knocked on the door as he reached Chloeâs bedroom door.
Since Eddie wouldnât let him out, Chloe was still in her bed in her pajamas. She didnât move and lay back on the bed as her slender, beautiful legs bent against each other.
Her nightgown only came to the root of her thighs, which was just enough to cover her intimate areas.
She swung her legs in the air, as she rested her head on the side of the bed, letting her long, straight hair flow across the bed.
Normally, Mrs. Chambers sent her fruit at that hour, and there were no outsiders in the house, so she acted nonchalant. As he looked at his phone, he said, âCome in.â
Creakâ¦
The door opened with a slight push. Chloe still didnât look at the person who opened the door and had her eyes fixed on the screen of her phone, âMom, do we still have pineapples in the house?â
She suddenly felt like eating something sweet and tangy. The weather was getting warmer, and it would be even nicer if the pineapples were iced.
Sean stood by the door, saying nothing, and watched his legs swing. He just leaned against the door in silence as he watched her.
The two had grown up together and knew each other. Therefore, when they had both grown up, he had never watched her closely.
Although he couldnât see her face clearly, but Sean knew she was no longer the same little girl who used to follow him everywhere.
After a long while, Chloe didnât get her motherâs answer. She frowned and asked, âMom?â And as she asked, she tilted her head and looked toward the door of her room.
Her head was resting on the edge of the bed. Therefore, when he tilted his head and looked toward the door, he discovered that it was not his mother. Although Seanâs figure was upside down in her vision, she reacted quickly, turned around hurriedly and covered her thighs with her nightgown. She said in panic, âYou, why are you here?â.
Sean leaned against the door, smiled and said, âIsnât it too late to cover your thighs now? Iâve been watching you for half a dayâ¦â.
Before he could finish the sentence, Chloe threw a pillow at him, âGo away!â.
Sean didnât dodge it. He caught the pillow and continued to watch her, âI didnât realize it before, but the truth is, youâre very beautiful.â
Naturally, Chloe was overjoyed when she was complimented on her beauty. There wasnât a woman who didnât like to be complimented by men.
She lifted her head, âDid you hear about it now?â
Sean held the pillow and looked at her delicate face intently, thought for a while and then answered her softly with a hum.
Chloe combed her long hair and fixed her pajamas. She wore pinkish-gray pajamas with slips inside. On the outside, she wore another long-sleeved silk robe, and since the sash didnât fit, the robe hung loosely over her shoulders, exposing her bare neck and collarbones.
When Sean noticed her neck, Chloe hurried to adjust the robe and tie the sash around her waist, âWhy are you looking at me like that, are you having any inappropriate thoughts right now?â
She got off the bed and walked in front of Sean. He seemed to be in a good mood, smiled and said, âBut too bad, my heart belongs to someone else.â
