Matthew picked up the suit coat lying on the couch and left the office.
Armand and Boyce sat quietly beside him.
âIs this the only way?â asked Armand.
Boyce looked at him, âSampson is dead, and this is the fact. Since this is a case involving a personâs life, and it could come out at any time. Dolores is a suspect if Jeffery continues to insist that Dolores is the murderer. He wouldnât let her off easy. Besides, there is nothing wrong with this approach, since they are not really married to each other. Iâm sure Iâll get her whenever Chloe shows up. By the timeâ¦â By then, they were no longer passive.
Armand thought this was the only feasible way, and they could only do it this way.
After leaving the office, Matthew drove to the hospital, passing a bookstore. He stopped the car at the bookstore. Matthew thought that Dolores must be bored when she stayed at the hospital every day. So he wanted to buy her a book related to fashion design to pass the time at the hospital, since Dolores was a fashion designer.
There were two floors in the bookstore with a five-meter wide bookshelf in the center that ran the length of the bookstore from the second floor to the second floor. It was filled with the fragrance of books.
The books had been grouped thematically into different sections. As Matthew looked for the fashion design books, he passed by the parenting book section. Without noticing, he spotted a book titled âNine Months.â Out of curiosity, he picked up the book and opened it to read it. The contents of the first chapter was the fertilization of an egg by a sperm.
He raised his eyebrows slightly. He thought, âHow could an adult not know how this happened?â.
The content of the second chapter was the implantation of a fertilized egg in the lining of the uterus.
The content of the third chapter was about who decided the gender of the baby.
The content of the fourth chapter was the changes in a womanâs body during pregnancy.
The title of the book, âNine Months,â appealed to Matthew at first, and Dolores was pregnant, so she became more interested in it.
Matthew was about to read the part that interested him, but some women followed his path, who were carrying children in their hands. So, he closed the book and went to the checkout counter to pay. He took the book and got into the car.
When he arrived at the hospital, he got out with the book and entered the elevator.
He made his way to the ward where Dolores was.
The floor was quiet.
The man guarding the door to the room saw Matthew step out of the elevator and stood up, âMr. Nelson.â
Matthew nodded slightly.
He walked to the door and pushed gently to open it. He was afraid Dolores was sleeping and he would wake her up. He saw a woman sitting in front of the window through the widened crack in the door.
She wore a loose-fitting white silk nightgown that hid the curve of her waist from view. She sat on a chair and exposed half of her white, slender calves. Her legs and even her ankles were beautiful.
Her nightgown was long sleeved and had a circle of lace sewn on the cuffs as an ornament. She bared her wrists and held a scissors in her hand to trim the branches and leaves of the flowers. On the table was a delicate glass vase of flowers.
Matthew threw away the flowers Charles had sent him last time. When Matthew went to the office last time, he thought about how Dolores had said she liked flowers, so he went to the florist. Since Matthew was a straight man, he didnât pay much attention to the flowers and plants. He didnât even know what the rose represented.
He only learned that roses represented love after the owner of the flower shop gave him an introduction about roses.
She remembered that Carlos had sent five roses last time, so she asked, âWhat can five roses represent?â
The florist replied, âRoses represent love, and five represents love without pretense.â
Matthew snorted and pondered, âWhat does Charles mean?â.
âIs he going to love Dolores without remorse?â he wondered.
Matthew scoffed.
So, Matthew bought lilies because the florist said that lilies had the meaning of love for all seasons.
For he wanted to be with Dolores happily for a hundred years.
As for Charles, may he have no regrets of his own!
After buying the flowers, he went straight to the office. The florist delivered the lilies to Dolores. Dolores was sleeping at the time, so Coral put the lilies on the table. Dolores saw it when she woke up. Afterwards, Dolores asked Coral to buy a glass vase to place the flowers in the vase. Dolores did not expect Matthew to buy her flowers.
Matthew walked into the living room and stood in front of her, âDo you like them?â.
Dolores lifted her head with her long hair hanging down and showed her small face. Dolores was surprised that Matthew bought her flowers. Matthew was angry when she threw the flowers away last time. Dolores thought he was not the kind of man who bought flowers for women. She was glad for it and the corners of her lips turned up in a smile, âI like them.â
Matthew snorted, âHow tacky he is.â
Dolores thought, âWhy do you keep buying me flowers if you think itâs tacky?â.
However, the words came to the tip of her tongue, but something held them back, âI still like it even if itâs tacky.â
Dolores stroked the petals of the flower. It was soft to the touch and had a faint fragrance.
Her nightgown had a round neckline and was adorned with lace that was folded in several layers. The neckline of the nightgown was a bit large and exposed her neck and collarbone.
Matthew leaned forward and pressed his lips to her collarbone. His lips were slightly cool and soft. She felt a rush of ecstasy the moment Matthewâs lips touched her skin. Dolores tensed her body. Soon she gently pushed him away and whispered, âCoralâs cleaning the bathroom now.
It would be a bad sight for Coral to come out of the bathroom and see them like this.
Matthew bit into some of her flesh with his teeth. However, Dolores was thin, so he could only bite her skin. Dolores felt pain and frowned even though Matthew didnât bite her forcefully.
Matthew smiled, âIâll let you bite me for the night.â
Dolores pushed him away, âStop it, let me finish arranging the flowers in the vase.â
Since Coral was in the bathroom, Matthew did not continue his movement. He sat down on the sofa and opened the book he had bought.
Dolores looked at him and was surprised that he bought a book and read it, but said nothing.
Matthew wanted to buy a book for Dolores, and he ended up buying one for himself and went back to the hospital. He forgot to buy a book for Dolores.
Coral came out of the bathroom after cleaning up and took the dirty towel. Then, she left the room and gently closed the door.
Coral knew Matthew had returned to the living room when she heard the sound of him. So, she purposely got to work quickly and left them alone in the room.
The room was silent. The contents of the book looked interesting, so Matthew read it involved.
Dolores arranged the flowers in the vase. It was beautiful and she was pleased with her masterpiece. She looked at Matthew and asked, âIs it pretty?â
âUm?â Matthew took his eyes off the book and saw that she had finished arranging the flowers. He set the book down on the couch and walked over to Dolores, âAre you tired?â
Dolores shook her head, âI want to wash my hands.â
Matthew carried her and headed for the bathroom. After Dolores washed her hands, Matthew put her on the bed, âDid you throw up today?â
Dolores said, âNo. Bring me the book. I want to read it too.â
Matthew looked at her and asked meaningfully, âAre you sure?â
âIs there anything inappropriate to read?â asked Dolores. âIsnât it just a book about pregnancy? Whatâs not appropriate to read?â she wondered.
Matthewâs eyes seemed dull with a hidden light in his eyes. He picked up the book from the couch and lay down on the bed. He took Dolores in his arms, âLetâs read it together.â Dolores snuggled into his shoulder and Matthew opened the book.
Howeverâ¦
â¦.
Dolores was speechless.
There were also subchapters in each chapter. Matthew was reading the chapter on the changes in a womanâs body during her pregnancy. The title of the first subchapter was âCan a woman have sex during her pregnancy?â.
I didnât know there would be drawings in the book.
Doctors did not suggest that a woman have sex in the first three months of pregnancy, and it should not be intense movements even if they had conjugal life.
The position of the fetus was more stable after three months of pregnancy.
The things to pay attention to during sexual life were not to put pressure on the pregnant womanâs abdomen and those positions that did not put pressure on the abdomen should be adopted.
The book showed many drawings about different types of sexual positions that were suitable for a pregnant woman.
â¦
âWhen the fetal position is stable, shall we try these?â said Matthew with interest.
Doloresâs neck quivered and she thought, âHe reads this kind of compromising stuff.â
Matthew looked at her rosy face and said in a deep voice, âIf you donât answer me, Iâll assume youâve agreed.â
Dolores threw herself into his arms and spoke nothing. She didnât know why he would want toâ¦..
In the past, Dolores didnât think she needed married life.
Nor did she think about sex when Matthew wasnât touching her. But this time, she didnât know why she would inexplicably want to have sex with Matthew.
She tried to calm herself and hypnotized herself to sleep.
Matthew lowered his head and looked at Dolores lying in his arms like a cat. He flashed a soft smile.
He turned the page to read the next chapter which dealt with the changes in a womanâs body in the first months of pregnancy.
When a woman was pregnant, she experienced many changes in her body, such as breast swelling, drowsiness, leg cramps at night, and the color of the breast areola gradually darkened throughout the pregnancy.
She lowered her head and checked that Dolores was breathing unsteadily and not as if she were asleep. He put down the book and leaned sideways to hug her, âWhatâs wrong?â Dolores had calmed down a lot at that point, âNothing, I just canât fall asleep.â
Matthewâs Adamâs apple bobbed in his throat. He felt more uncomfortable than she did, but he thought of the doctorâs advice, so he restrained himself.
He opened the neckline of the nightgown slightly with his fingers.
Dolores hurried to cover it with her hands, âWhat are you doing?â.
Matthew smiled, âI just want to take a look.â Dolores was speechless.
His voice was a little hoarse, but his laugh disguised the hoarseness, âThe book says there will be some changes in a pregnant womanâs body. I want to see if yours has any changes.â
