All eyes were on him in unison.

“The bodyguard just called. Something’s happened to them… they’re on their way to the hospital now…”

A figure ran past him. Feeling the wind, Boyce checked to see that Matthew had already vanished.

Boyce came to his senses, turning and trotting off.

“Let’s follow them.” Jayden hurried after them as well.

Matthew was driving and Boyce was sitting in the passenger seat with his hands gripping the safety handle tightly. It was the rush hour of the day, but Matthew accelerated the car a hundred yards.

Boyce wondered if he would die before he got to the hospital.

“Slow down. It’s too dangerous…”

Creeeaak…

Before he finished his reminder, the car slammed on the brakes. Behind the window, he could even smell the burning smell caused by the tire rubbing against the ground.

Boyce’s heart hammered. He didn’t dare look ahead. The car was weaving back and forth between cars. Several times, it nearly collided with cars in the street. Boyce panicked.

For the nearly twenty minutes of driving, Boyce felt like it was half a century, which was too exciting, more so than any game of Risk.

The car stopped in front of the hospital. Matthew got out. A security guard approached and reminded him, “You can’t park here, sir.”

Boyce tossed the key to the guard and hurried after Matthew.

When Dolores was rescued, she passed out. Victoria was still in the emergency room.

Fortunately, neither child was hurt. Simona was frightened, curled up in Coral’s arms, trembling.

Seeing the man approaching down the hallway, Simona, who had been suppressing her excitement, burst into tears. The silent waiting room was suddenly filled with her weeping.

Matthew clasped her in his arms, pressing her head and comforting her in a gentle tone, “Don’t be afraid, Simona. Daddy is here.” As he spoke, he looked sharply at the bodyguard standing beside them. “Where is he?”

“The lady is in the living room. The doctor has checked her. She’s fine. However…”

Hearing that, Matthew felt a little relaxed. Placing his arm over Samuel’s shoulder, he gave his ever-calm son a hug.

He felt very fortunate: everyone was fine.

He said in a hoarse tone, “Come on. Let’s go check on your mom.”

Samuel didn’t move with red-rimmed eyes. “Grandma is still in there. I’ll wait for her.” Matthew frowned deeply. He didn’t know Victoria was there too.

He glanced at the bodyguards standing against the wall as if asking what exactly had happened.

One of them lowered his head, “Today Mrs. Nelson and Miss Dolores were out with the children. We had three vehicles. They were sitting in the center minivan. The four of us were with them. As we were passing on the FX road, the accident happened. There were too many people from the other side, and they had planned ahead. While we were tangled up with them, they took the opportunity to take Mrs. Nelson. As we stopped them, we did not realize that Miss Dolores was kidnapped. For her safety, Mrs. Nelson agreed to go with them, but they did not release Miss Dolores….

…and drove away from the scene. Jack and I went in pursuit. Later the car had an accident. When we arrived, Miss Dolores had fainted, and Mrs. Nelson…”

The bodyguard ducked his head further. When they rescued Victoria from the car, she was drenched in blood. Her back was badly mutilated. She was almost dying….

Matthew narrowed his eyes and his relaxed face became furious. Then his face tensed abnormally, as if he was suppressing his extreme anger. He found it hard to breathe and his eyes burned. He stared at the bodyguard. “Go ahead!” The bodyguard shuddered, shaking all over.

Just then, the light above the office door suddenly went from green to red. The door burst open. Out stepped a doctor in a blue surgical gown. He removed his mask and bowed to the waiting family. “I’m sorry, but we’ve done everything we can. When the patient was sent here, she had already stopped breathing. We took a number of cardiac resuscitation measures but failed to save her. She was too injured. I am sorry for her loss.”

Jayden, who had just arrived at the operating room door, heard the doctor and winced. Kevin helped him up to keep him from falling.

Samuel was holding Matthew’s leg, sobbing softly. His shoulders kept going up and down, shaking all over. He understood what the doctor had said.

He was very sad because he had understood those words.

Matthew also tensed his body. He even forgot that Samuel was still holding his leg. He rushed to the doctor, grabbed him by the neck and said with bloodshot eyes “Repeat what you just said!”

Boyce helped lift Samuel, who almost fell, and passed him to Coral. He reached over and said, “Matthew, calm down.”

The doctor’s face paled with fear. He tried to remain calm. Whenever he announced the death of a patient, he always found the patient’s family could lose their minds.

“We’ve done everything we can,” the doctor said.

Matthew did not release his grip on the doctor, but tightened it more and more. Blue veins were popping out on the back of his hand and his eyes were fully bloodshot. “I command you to save her!”

“Please calm down. You’re going to scare Simona. Right now we must investigate the matter and find the one behind it.” Boyce grabbed his hand.

Matthew slowly looked at him.

Boyce continued, “Would it be helpful if you killed the doctor?”

“Dad.” Simona wrapped her arms around his neck and sobbed softly. “I’m scared. Daddy, don’t be mad, okay?”

Matthew closed his eyes. His tight chin contour emanated arctic coldness.

“Dad.” He heard the little girl’s husky, trembling voice. Her face rubbed against his neck. “I’m scared.”

Silently, he slowly released her hand, patting his daughter on the back. “Don’t be afraid.”

Boyce immediately asked the doctor to leave.

He tried to hold Simona by Matthew’s arm. “Next, we may have a lot of work to do. I’ll send the children back home and let the bodyguards and Coral take care of them.” Simona didn’t want to let go. She wanted her daddy.

“Simona, good girl. Daddy still has a lot of things to take care of. He’ll come back to join you when things are done.”

Simona’s eyes and nose were red from crying. She asked in a hoarse voice, “Papa, will you come back to join me soon?”

As she asked, she kept sobbing.

Matthew answered in a very hoarse voice, “I will.”

Hearing her father’s promise, Simona finally let go of him. Boyce pulled her close to the bodyguards and solemnly ordered them, “Be sure to take good care of them.”

At such a thing happening, the bodyguards couldn’t help but blame themselves.

“Yes, Mr. Shawn. We will.”

After the children were sent back to the villa and Coral took care of them, Boyce was not at all at ease. He called Armand and asked him to go to the villa as well.

He couldn’t tell Armand exactly what had happened, so he just informed him of the situation. “I am still worried. Please go take care of them.”

Armand asked him to calm down and he agreed, so Boyce hung up the phone.

Victoria’s body had not yet been sent to the morgue. For the moment it was still in the living room.

The body was covered with a white cloth. Jayden was half-kneeling beside the bed, clutching her cold hand.

How he longed to warm her cold body.

He shed tears silently.

“You promised to see me through to the end. How could you leave me and forsake me so suddenly? You didn’t even say goodbye to me…”

The man’s voice lowered to the extreme, sobbing with grief.
