.
However, the person behind her was not the one she expected. And even more so, someone who was outside of her expectations.
âWhy are you here?â Dolores Flores clenched the pen in her hand unconsciously.
Matthew Nelson glanced around the office. It was decorated with a white theme, representing simplicity and generosity.
âSo this is your place of business?â Matthew walked over to the French windows and looked outside.
Dolores put down her pencil and stood up, âI asked you something.â
Matthew turned around looking at her and sneered, âIâm here, just to see you, of course.â
Dolores had her hand behind her back, gripping the edge of the table. She was looking straight at him, trying to see through him.
What did she really want?
But she couldnât see anything.
âHave you met with Mrs. William?â he asked in an affirmative tone.
She couldnât think of anyone else who would force her to go back.
Matthew walked over, pulled the chair up behind her and sat down. âYes.â She answered frankly.
Your favorite tales are on gαâηÏνððsâ¤Ã§Ð¾nn âWhy?â roared Dolores.
She could think of no reason why he would do this!
âNo reason.â Matthew grabbed Doloresâ wrist, pulling her down and letting her sit on his lap. Dolores refused and tried to free herself from his grip.
âIâm hurt.â
âWhat does you being hurt have to do with me?â said Dolores imperiously.
Matthew sighed, âAre you curious as to what I gave Mrs. William?â
Dolores was curious as to what it was that could make Mistress William break her own rules.
âWhat did you give her?â Dolores asked.
âSince you joined the LEO Corporation, you should have heard about her husband, Mr. William, right?â Matthew stroked Doloresâ back, trying to calm her down.
Dolores nodded, âI heard that the couple was very loving. Only Lord William passed away too soon, and his wife was still young at the time. But she didnât remarry for him.â
âThen do you know what her husband, Lord William, did for a living?â Matthew had managed to take Doloresâs mind away and distract her attention.
Dolores shook her head as this was beyond her knowledge.
Matthew wrapped his arm around Doloresâ waist and forced her to sit up. Dolores struggled reluctantly, as Matthew murmured, âIt hurts, can you be a little more obedient?â.
Dolores felt aggrieved â didnât he know that this action was unpleasant?
Wasnât it very intimate for them to behave like this?
Why did it always have to be like this?
âMr. William was a jewelry designer.â Matthew said.
Dolores raised her eyebrows and was surprised at Mr. Williamâs identity as a jewelry designer.
âBut what does this have to do with what he gave Mrs. William?â. Dolores couldnât understand.
âWhen Mrs. William met William, she was still an unknown fashion designer. It was a fashion conference, and it was the first time Mrs. Williamâs design was being staged. Coincidentally, Mr. William had also attended that fashion conferenceâ¦â
âSo, did they meet?â Dolores was able to imagine the scene at that moment, âIt would be very romantic, wouldnât it?â.
She felt a pang of envy. When she was young, she too had longed for love, but had missed her chance.
Now, she was just a single mother.
Matthew had noticed Doloresâ emotional changes and hugged her tighter around the waist, âThey had met, but it wasnât romantic. Iâd say it was rather awkwardâ¦â
Dolores frowned, âDid something happen?â
âYes. Someone reported that Mrs. William was plagiarizing other peopleâs workâ¦â
âImpossible!â Dolores was confident in Mrs. Williamâs character, as well as her ability.
She would never plagiarize!
Matthew silently looked at her angry look, âI wasnât talking about you, why are you getting agitated?â
Dolores calmed down as she was too nervous now, âI simply could not believe that Mrs. William would plagiarize.â
âIndeed, sheâ¦â Matthew had noticed that Dolores was frowning, gasping as at any moment she was going to burst out in anger.
âHer design bore the same name as a well-known necklace, but Mrs. William was completely unfamiliar with that necklace. And more coincidentally, it was the same name as well as the same source of inspiration, just a different design.â Matthew picked a lock of hair from Doloresâ ear, fiddling with his fingertips, and said quietly, âWould this be fate?â Indeed, it was a strange coincidence.
Only Dolores couldnât understand, how could they know they had the same inspiration?
âSilly.â Matthew pinched Doloresâ cheek. Then Dolores realized that since they had the same name, they had to look into it. So when the two met, they knew they had the same source of inspiration and named their design the same.â
âYouâre not that dumb.â Matthew smirked.
Dolores grimaced. Did his words imply that she was stupid?
âSo, you gave Mrs. William the necklace?â Dolores guessed.
Matthew nodded.
âWhy was the necklace with you?â
The necklace was bought by a gentleman at auction and given to his wife.
He was not short of money, as he was a businessman with plenty of resources.
Shortly after Mr. William passed away, Mrs. William searched everywhere for the necklace. Although she knew who had the necklace, the man did not want to sell it.
The man would not sell it no matter how much Mrs. William offered.
Coincidentally, that businessman had business dealings with Matthew.
Dolores understood that Matthew had given something that Mrs. William had always wanted. So Mrs. William agreed to open a branch.
Dolores soon realized that she was distracted by Matthew.
She didnât wonder what he had given Mrs. William.
Instead, why did Matthew want her to return to his country?
What was in it for him?
What did he really want?
Dolores realized then that she was sitting on his lap unconsciously as they talked.
She jumped to her feet, glaring at Matthew, âWhat is your intention?â
He felt out of place after she stood up. He looked at Dolores, âWhat intention could I have but to bring you?â
âWhy me?â
âWhy didnât you want to come back?â Matthew changed to a soft tone, âOr is there something that saddens you?â
âNo!â replied Dolores instinctively.
âThen why are you afraid to come back?â
âWhoâs afraid?â
Matthew then scoffed, âThen why are you getting so upset?â Dolores found that she had been struck dumb by him.
She didnât want to admit that this man could alter her mind. Dolores pretended that she didnât care about anything and said, âWhen have I ever gotten upset?â
