Looking up she met the green orbs that was fixated on her sympathetically, looking around her again her foot started jumping slightly as she tried to get rid of her apprehension.
Standing up Katiandra could feel the uncomfort in which the young woman was, she really was not used to normal tests, keeping her eyes locked in hers she walked near her making a movement to lay on her desk, hardening her stare she stopped when the young woman that looked more like a child at the moment flinched under the intensity of the stare.
Laying her tablet in front of her she crossed her arms on her small support table laying her head on them obediently, which weirdly pleased the Queen.
Walking passed her Katiandra eyes widened at the sight of the purple that bruised her left arm and the base of her neck. Stopping in front of her she stood there fighting the urge to put her hand in the light golden lax hairs which was clearly natural all the hairs in the country were brown or black. It was even in this class making her special.
Controlling the time it was just twenty minutes from the beginning, Katiandra sighed softly looking at Lorelei who seemed to be deeply sleeping, one of her hand dangerously getting close to her tablet menacing to throw it on the floor.
Her moved to remove it out of her grip drew attention to them.
"She already finished?" Axel a bright young man asked stunned his eyes going from the professor to his sleepy classmate then Alicia who was concentrated on her exam not surprised by it.
Lightening the tablet, the results it was showing did not make her wave. With an unperturbed face she stared at them, she could see from her peripheral vision Miss Cole mouth opened and closed several times before looking down at her own device.
This was exactly what Katiandra wanted to avoid the drama that would have insue. Tht girl thought she was the best fit for the position but that was it because Lorelei name was not listed on her role plus it was a way to have her with her. The fact that she was in her class made her the only fit for the position.
"You still have... One hour and twenty minutes make it of use." Returning to her desk she made her fingers touched the young woman arms on her way making hers tingled.
From time to time she will see them glancing at Lorelei silently sleeping, she did not snore or moved around like some often do, which had the older woman mesmerized. Crossing her arms her gaze wandered on all her students, the test was hard she chosed it on purpose, just in time she saw that Cole finished at the same time as Alicia sending daggers to the sleepy head.
Collecting the tablets computer by herself Katiandra sighed at the results she saw on them. All the items in the small basket that was linked to her arm, she stopped in front of the haircut that she loves so much.
"Miss Kamali? Wake up." Shaking her slowly katiandra was grace with a beautiful face that was lost for a moment.
"Sorry professor." Sitting straight Lorelei wiped the sleep on her face tiredness wrapped on her, she was not one to sleep a lot but when she does it was real sleep.
"Don't be sorry, I remembered saying it was allow. Now that Miss Kamali is awake we can... Yes Axel?"
"Is K. KÂ made for Kamali, because her name is listed nowhere?! How come you know it?"
"I am still the rector of this university right? Now can I continue what I was saying without being interrupted Mr Vernon?"
The stern voice she used with her signature cold eyes made the young man nodded doing his possible to not meet the woman stare.
"We can proceed with the scores. You all know yours, the one that count hundred percent is rightly the lucky one. You are all dismiss."
Turning her back to thirteen flabbergasted students she took the files she had when she came in making her way to the door when Miss Cole chose to voice her unhappiness.
"But professor no one could have done that good! The test was really hard for someone to do!! That means that the final score has to be lowered."
Arching one of her perfect line brow, the woman shook her head looking at her like she was wasting her time.
"Are you teaching me my job miss Cole? Because it looks like it. If you did not got the points accept it. Do not ever waste my time like this again. All the things in that exam we saw it in this class right? Or have I not asked you to read all the researchs relates? I did." Sternly wandering her gaze on the others students she intensely looked at the young lady that was now sitting.
"The first thing I told you when you started in first years was to work. Work and work! If you do so you will be reward by the best. Apparently there is someone in this class who followed that warning. Do not look at my daughter. She is in the same boat as you. Now have a good day."
A snicker followed her words the moment her hand touched the doorknob, coming from the insufferable brat that was Marian Cole, clearly insinuating who will assist her was a fact. Her daughter. Turning around slowly she gaze at her intensely for a moment. The silence in the room was deafening no one dare to make a move for fear to take a bullet that was not theirs. The professor decided to Keep her cool knowing she felt deflated as she did not get the position.
"Miss Cole you are a bright student, a very good one as my daughter who I'm proud of, the two of you have the same scores. For the instance she really worked hard to be in this class and I am sure some day she will be a bright professor that will not be ashamed of showing their grade because she will have own it by her work as you, I am sure, will do to. You are right in the fact that she may end up coming on the site as a consequence of her filiation but in no way will I make her benefit the products of that works. Whomever wants the fame work for it."
Removing the pen she had out of her hairs to maintain them up, she put her hand in them moving her fingers inside her eyes everywhere but on the intimidating woman that stood a meter away right in front of her desk.
"Excuse my bluntness professor then you should have asked for your brain's clone. It would have been better."
Everyone erupted in laughers including Alicia, relieved the situation did not degenerate. It was only Miss Cole that could said things like that to the intimidating woman.
"Miss Kamali is the one who will participate to the research. She scored hundred percent because she is more advanced than you even if you are all in the same level. Her scored talked by themselves. Her instructors briefed me her results, it is painful how we are wasting her time here. She could have her degree already but she chose not to."
"She is a genius or what?" Axel Vernon voice his question more like a constatation. "How come she has others instructors?"
" Wait she's on Meyer program!?!" Another student asked his hand on his head, he thought the program was a legend for it was difficult to access it. He tried, most like his parents did, but the conditions were hard, really soul killing. At least out of it he knew for instance such students have others instructors than PORYS professors.
"What is Meyer Program?" Turning her head to the boy who asked the question Miss Cole pressed her eyebrows knitted in one line, wondering how he could not know, that was something everyone's know about her. Condescendingly pouring her knowledge to the poor in brain.
"It is a scholarship for genius students for all the duration of the college Professor Alister created. My brother tried to do it but it was too hard, he finally have to go in a different college out of the country for people that have high IQ rate. He told me his college is partner with ours, ZHC University to teach the students in the program. But he said the program only have one student. That was like six years ago."
Everyone turned their gaze to Lorelei who seemed unfazed by it her confidence kicking in weirdly, that was how she was abled to practice law for the time it last.
"Exactly Mr Smith the only and unique student of my program is Miss Kamali. Who earned her place in my research to. She already have her bachelor's degree which was imprinted this morning from both our universities partners from London and USA. They informed me she completed the module two weeks after the beginning of the semester and was currently participating on researchs on the matter. They asked me if I could accepted, which I think is not on me to do, that she go work with them. Now tell me, how I am going to give them an element that could be of use for us?" Tilting her head the woman waited looking at Cole opened face.
"But it's unfair she had years to learn all those things! That is not call genius. She is older than us all "
A sly smile on their professor looked at them all before meeting Lorelei who did not care at that level. She knew the time will come where everyone would know. Shrugging at the stunning woman who looked at her with pride in her eyes she concentrated on her phone since the test was over.
"For your information Miss Kamali had her high school degree at sixteen, did law school for seven years practice for two and now not only is she one of the best lawyer my University ever form and the youngest at it, but also will soon be a PhD because she studied when you guys were playing. Now that we cleared that up, know that things will change, Miss Kamali is my assistant from now on. I will not allow someone else to have what is mine. I was always your mentor that will remain like that. If that is okay with you."
Nodding her head slowly at the woman, Lorelei felt like she was dreaming. She sensed that her last words had others meaning. For her to said that out loud was a huge turn on, no one thought something about it though she was use to say it on her interview when they will asked her if she had people she mentored. Sucking on her own tongue, Lorelei concentrated on a point on the wall before her.
"Okay we are settled then. Please Miriam you are bright smile my dear your turn will come. Now have a good rest of the days and... Cheers!" As soon as she walked out of the class everyone started laughing feeling good, it was not everyday their instructor was so cheerful even Miriam Cole had a small smile on her face after the praise she just received from her model.
As the doors hung opened behind her the students stood up chatting by themselves seeing it coming Lorelei dashed to the emergency door opening it swiftly trying to run away from her nosey peers catching her running away Alicia followed her putting her foot in between the small gab before the door closed.
"Alicia? Wait?" Miriam caught her professor daughter hand before she left, removing her hand as the girl eyes met hers then looked at her arm.
"Yeah?" Not in a chatty mode, Alicia answered curtly
"You two are friends?"
Shrugging annoyed Alicia glanced back in the corridor catching the young woman back from afar she was walking quickly.
"Look Miriam we will speak another time okay? Call or I'll do it as soon as I can and we can talk bye."
Making sure to close the door behind her, she ran behind her new friend who seemed to be running away. They were on a different hallway than her mother's.
In the opposite direction, turning around she saw nothing, infuriated she stormed out of the library where she saw her many times before but she was not there. Throwing her hands in the air exasperated "Seriously, how stupid."she huffed walking out of the building.
she finally put them in her pockets defeated standing still for a moment in the beautifully garden, she turned around herself wandering her eyes everywhere then froze as she saw her distinguish hair color from afar in the professor parking lot.
"Lorelei!... Hey!" Running toward her, hands moving in the air she finally caught her attention.
"I thought she loses track of me urgh!" Making a fake smile, Lorelei waited the young woman who reached her out of breath.
"I... God I searched you everywhere... Where... Are you going?... God I have to start working out again I'm dying here. Don't laugh!"
A genuine smile on her lips which spread by the minute Lorelei leaned on her car as the panting girl took the bottle of water she took out of her bag.
"If mom see me doing this she will kill my death body! But it's you so thank you."
"How come? Oh yeah! She actually is right you know, you are a target for a lot of people even the ones you would not imagine. Here on the campus or out of here please don't do that again... At least with someone else." Lorelei rapidly chimed in at the end as the young version of her now mentor looked at her with a sad face at her words her face illuminated again.
"Ahaah you two are really alike... Sorry but I'm... Finishing this, it's your fault I had to run like that." Lorelei took the bottle out of her hand as she was about to throw it in the trashcan. Tapping her fingers on it intently for her to see.
"I, OH sorry. When I'm around someone I'm comfortable with I tend to be reckless. Thanks you. My prints are on this bottle, sometimes it suck being me."
Nudging her with her shoulder as she leaned near her on the car Lorelei snorted showing her tongue out to brighten the mood.
"Yeah and I suppose you have the ugliest mother which make you ugly too, and don't forget she treats you sooo bad that you can't stand to go back home. When you see her you cringe in a way that make your stomach clench making you like urgrrr! And..." Mrs Alister daughteri started laughing at her way to describe her life knowing it was the exact opposite.
"Okay! Okay.... I get your point I have good things in my life too and my mother is one of themmm. She loves me and I do too. AND you will feel... No, no you will pass a very bad time if you ditch her as you are trying to do.... Dude you clearly forgot she told you to meet her in her office!? Lucky you I didn't. Mom don't like to wait."
Face palming herself a second time in a matter of hours, Lorelei internally screamed at herself this was what she was missing while running to her car, she knew she had to do something important but forgot what. Sighing deeply she put her hand in her hairs.
"Thanks you I..." Looking at the large space around her the buildings was spread making her feel a headache coming.
"Ahaah! You don't know where to find her office, but I'm here! Follow me hopefully she will not be waiting for that long." Linking theirs hands they entered back in the administration building going straight in the elevator.
"You don't go where you have nothing to do I see! You and my mom clic just well." Chatting the two walked around heading toward the rector office but it was mostly Alicia speaking.
