Ivy
I found him sitting at the pool side of my house, his hand on his chin like he was thinking of something. Something important, his long lashes formed shadows just below his eyes, from the reflection of the bright light above him. I could already see the beauty on his face before reaching him.
He was putting on his normal white shirt and black jean trouser. He had no jacket on this time, and it was pretty cold outside. The moon wasn't all that bright and the wind made it its mission to provide goosebumps to the skin of anyone who felt it, I was putting on a large sweater and my comfortable pj trouser.
It was way past my bedtime, but luckily enough for me, my parents were out on vacation.
When I finally reached him, I sat down on the spot beside him, I could feel the heat from his body, seeping through my sweater to attack my skin, I guess it was his robotic chip, providing that amount of heat to his body, since he didn't act like he was cold.
Without looking at me, he spoke. "I got your message earlier today." He said.
"Yeah? where were you?" I asked him, intertwining my fingers.
He inhaled and exhaled heavily, sitting up right. Finally, his eyes met mine. I had to suck in a sharp breath at the way his emerald green eyes caused waves of nervousness deep inside me, I gulped down losing my new found strength and courage. The intimidating look in his eyes made me feel so small, I had been this close to him, but I didn't notice the detailed look in his eyes, his hot but intimidating stare, which made my heart change its rhythm and speed.
I knew he was about to say something, but I didn't know what made him stop, he just continued to stare, like he was assessing every single little detail of my face, before I knew it, a smile pulled at his lips.
"What?" I asked, managing to find my voice.
His lips parted, as if to say something, but then he closed it again, shaking his head. "Nothing." He said, a quick frown meeting his brows before looking away.
I gulped.
Was that a moment there?
Should I be worried? I mean, I would have been really worried if he was truly a robot but now- with the stuff I knew, I had a little bit of hope that it was okay to feel mesmerized by his facial appearance.
"You asked about my whereabouts." He spoke up, making my attention snap back to him. As if it ever left.
"Yeah, I didn't see you after school."
He scoffed. "I didn't see you after school... We were supposed to go home together, but you left. To Roman's right?"
I sighed. "What does that have to do with anything?"
"What kind of a question is that? It has everything to do with everything. Just before you left earlier, you told me you were gonna do everything within your power to figure out why I used LT wipe on you. I knew you'd head on to Roman's immediately you left school." He said.
"How did you know?"
He only shrugged.
"Did you follow me?"
"I have better things to do than to follow you everywhere." He muttered.
I rolled my eyes. "If you don't mind telling me... Better things like what?"
He turned to face me. "Better things like going back to my Inc to clear up somethings."
I raised my left brow. "Oh, somethings like what? You needed to upgrade your brain cells? Or your uh... Damaged parts? Or-"
"I went to see a friend." He answered.
"You have a friend?" I asked him.
"Thought I told you that already?"
"You wiped my memories." I stated out. Almost too sharp as I watched guilt flash through his eyes.
"I was only trying to protect you, why would I just wipe your memories for wiping sake? You knew too much."
I rolled my eyes. "Just tell me what's going on, that way, I can protect myself and be alert."
"That's the issue, Ivy... I can't tell you... If I do, you'd be in danger."
I swallowed. "Are we being monitored?" Fear overtook my thoughts.
"Yes. My Inc takes their high profiled shit really serious."
"To the point of murdering their customers?" I asked.
"Probably."
"Or you're just saying all this to scare me." I stated.
"No." He pointed out, raking his hands through his hair. "I'm being serious."
"Okay then... Do you know the person? The one watching us?"
"Yes."
"Do I know the person?" I asked again. I don't know- but something told me that he was going to answer every question I asked him, as long as it wasn't about the so-called secret his Inc was trying to keep, which I already know about.
"Sorta." He muttered. "Listen Ivy, there are stuffs you don't know about. Important things that can change everything. Everything you've ever believed in."
"Why don't you just tell me? I promise I can keep it a secret, it'd make things more easier for the both of us... We could finally understand each other."
"I wish I could, Ivy. We're sworn to secrecy... If my Inc finds out, it could be bad for both you and me. There's an higher chain to my Inc, one with great power and command."
"Than the American government?"
He shrugged. "All I'm saying is. I want to tell you, but I can't." He sighed. "And for what it's worth, I'm sorry. For using LT wipe on you... I know how it feels."
"Really?" I asked.
"Yeah... But it never did last long on me. To my kind, it's like cocaine... You take it to forget your current situation, come what may, it'd sneak up on you like a heat wave, causing you to relive that situation you wanted to forget... It's really horrible for my kind."
"So, you're saying I might still remember things?"
He shook his head. "LT wipe works differently with my kind and normal mundanes like you... You won't remember anything but snippets and they won't be enough to allow you make out a full picture of what you've forgotten." He said. "Trust me Ivy, it's in your favour."
I chuckled. "My favour? I'm driving myself crazy trying to figure out what I've forgotten."
"Then don't." He stated. "Stop trying to remember... Let's just move on... It's the best thing to do Ivy, trust me when I say that."
"I wish it was that easy, Trev." I muttered.
"Just promise me you'd drop it." He said, staring deep into my eyes, silently pleading.
"I will, but only if you'd answer this question truthfully and whole heartedly." I said, hoping to God that He does, if he answers it truthfully, it could help with my investigation with Roman.
"What is it?"
"Are you truly made out of irons or is there something more to your story?"
He hesitated for a bit before smiling. "No, I'm not, and yes, there's something more to my appearance. Satisfied?"
"So you're like human?"
"I'm sure you're smart enough to figure that out yourself." He lips kicked up in a smirk.
So he's human...
Which means the project was never shut down. This just keeps getting better and better.
Vote and comment:-)
So they're okay... But Ivy knows even more now. Do you think she would drop it, or investigate further? Will Ethan have to use LT wipe again?
Read on to find out.
