Book 4: Chapter 53: Successful Awakening, Butâ¦
Chen Heng did not waste time speaking to these minions. Instead, he just tore through the tent and soared into the sky while carrying Nightingale.
When Chen Heng stopped in the air, he saw the savage battlefield. Both sides had Sarkaz soldiers. As a race, the Sarkaz was combative, the kind that would not rest until one side died. This led to the abnormal intensity of this battle.
âLiz, close your eyes and wait. You will be safe in a while.â Chen Heng asked Liz to close her eyes to prevent severe psychological trauma.
Although these scenes should be from Nightingaleâs memoriesâmeaning she had seen them beforeâhe still did not want her to witness such cruel sights.
âAlright, got it.â Nightingale lay in Chen Hengâs embrace, looking cute.
Usually, people or objects in the air would become everyoneâs target; Chen Heng was no exception. Furthermore, he got targeted by both sides.
Arrows, bolts, stones, Arts, fireballs, wind bladesâ¦all sorts of things soared towards Chen Heng. However, his attraction barrier blocked them all.
Actually, Chen Heng did not mind facing such situations face-on, as he felt confident in his martial prowess. Mazes like the earlier one gave him a headache; he was not good at solving puzzles.
As treatment centers tended to be at the rear of battlefields, Chen Heng found the direction to leave the battlefield as quickly as possible: the back of the treatment center. As he flew over, he scanned the battlefield.
To solve this heart maze, he needed to deliver Nightingale to a safe place. What would make her feel the safest should be Shining, so he guessed Shining would be somewhere around.
By the time Chen Heng reached the periphery of the battlefield, he still had not seen Shining. However, he saw something that looked like an endpoint, so he continued flying along the fringe.
As he flew, he felt like he was running around a track. The difference was that he had to maintain his attraction barrier to block the projectiles and ranged Arts.
Chen Heng flew like this for five more minutes, almost circling the entire battlefield when he finally found his target: a black-robed Shining holding a staff.
At this moment, Shining stood on a small hill. Soldiers were fighting in the surroundings, but none charged her.
This gave Chen Heng the impression of an RPG game and Shining was an NPC in the game. No matter how chaotic the battlefield was, it would not affect her.
When Chen Heng arrived over Shiningâs hill and approached her, Nightingale started glowing.
Nightingale suddenly kissed Chen Hengâs face and leaped out of his embrace. This action scared him for a moment.
After leaving Chen Hengâs embrace, she grew taller and returned to her grown-up form in a few seconds. Nightingaleâs expression as she looked at him changed.
After Nightingale grew up, Chen Heng suddenly discovered his legs turning into light and scattering, like when a Heroic Spirit left. It looked like Nightingale had recovered, so the outsiderâChen Hengâhad to leave.
âNightingale?â Chen Heng asked probingly.
âYes, itâs me! Thank you for coming to help me, He Who Knows Fate.â
âPhew! It looks like it succeeded. Since thatâs the case, Iâll return to reality. Iâll see you later.â
âSee you later.â
------
Whoosh!
When Chen Hengâs consciousness left the heart maze, he immediately saw an anxious Shining.
âHe Who Knows Fate, howâs Liz?â Shining realized Chen Heng had awakened, and immediately asked about Nightingale.
âDonât worry. She is fine; she should wake up soon with her memories recovered. By the way, how long did I stand like that?â
âAbout three minutes.â
Chen Heng had taken three hours to complete his objective, but only three minutes had passed outside. Thatâs good, thatâs good. I did not waste too much time.
âOoohâ¦â Nightingale opened her eyes a couple of minutes later. When Shining saw Nightingale open her eyes, Shining grabbed her hand.
âLiz, how are you?â
Nightingale did not immediately respond to Shining. She just stared at the white wall, looking no different from being in a daze.
âHe Who Knows Fate, whatâs wrong with Liz?â
âShining, donât panic! Nightingale should be organizing her memories after recovering them. Thereâs no need to worry; this is normal.â
------
After a while:
âShining?â
âIâm here. Liz, do you feel any discomfort? How do you feel? Have you recovered your memories?â
âYes, I have recovered my memories. I have to thank He Who Knows Fate for that.â Nightingale smiled faintly at Chen Heng, expressing her gratitude.
Phew!
Phew!
Not just Shining released a bated breath; Chen Heng did too. It looked like Nightingale had not retained memories of the heart maze. This is great. At least Shining wonât be hunting me down to cut me up.
âThatâs right. Nightingale, Iâm going to Lungmen this afternoon. Do you want to come?â
âIn that much of a rush?â Shining answered instead of Nightingale.
âIt is a little urgent. Nightingale, do you want to come with me and relax a little?â Nightingale did not immediately answer. Instead, she turned to Shining. The meaning was obvious: she wanted Shiningâs opinion.
âNightingale, go on, then. You probably do not feel good after recalling your past. You can go and relax. Unfortunately, Nearl and I have missions and cannot go with you. Letâs go see Nearl after you rest for a while. Iâll send you and He Who Knows Fate to Lungmen in the afternoon.â
âAlright.â
âAlright, since Nightingale recovered her memories, my mission is done. I still have some things to do, so Iâll leave first. Nightingale, rest well.â
Since Nightingale had already recovered her memories, there was no point in being a lamppost here. Furthermore, he still had to fight Skadi.
âI have to thank you. He Who Knows Fate, thank you for treating Liz. Thank you for helping Liz regain her memories.â
âYouâre welcome. Just spend more time with Nightingale. Iâll leave first.â After speaking, Chen Heng opened the door to leave.
âHe Who Knows Fate, see you later.â
âAh Heng, see you later.â
âSee youâ¦â
Did I just hear Nightingale address me as Ah Heng? Did I hear wrong? I must have heard wrong, right? Chen Heng stiffly turned his head back and looked at Nightingale.
âNight-Nightingale, what did you call me earlier?â
