âMr. Kirsten, someone is coming our way.â
Edward Kirsten was squatting on the ground, releasing his hand from Stella Edwardsâs neck.
Immediately, Stella fell to the ground, motionless. Her face was turning blue, with tears still undried on her face, and her left leg was twisted in an unnatural way.
The person who came to report glanced at Stella and dared not move his eyes further.
Edward Kirsten didnât look at Stella either and stood up, asking, âWho is the person coming?â
âNot sure.â
âEven in such a hidden place, weâre discovered, and you donât even know who the intruder is,â Edward Kirsten said softly, âyouâre really capable.â
The man in front of him lowered his head even more.
Edward Kirsten didnât say anything else, found a mask to wear, picked up his coat, and headed straight for the back door.
The enemy came violently, and soon the entire mansion was surrounded.
At first, both sides were evenly matched, but Edward Kirsten didnât fight back, taking advantage of the fierce battle between the two sides, and sneaking away with two people in the chaos.
It took almost half an hour for the noise of the fight to gradually stop.
Of Edward Kirstenâs people, besides him and the two he took away, none of the others could escape, and all were lost here.
After the fight stopped, the courtyard was searched again.
Nothing useful was found, but they did discover that Stella Edwards was still breathing faintly, so they took her awayâ¦

Domestic.
After Charlotte Lane got off work at the Research Institute, Harton Clark accompanied her to meet Jace Miles.
They agreed to meet at a nearby coffee shop of Spotlight.
Charlotte Lane asked Harton Clark to wait in the car, and she went to meet Jace alone. By the time she arrived, Jace had been sitting inside for a while.
After sitting down, Jace looked at her for a while and hesitated, âI donât know how to address you.â
Charlotte Lane looked at Jaceâs haggard face and asked, âWhy?â
âYouâre not Daisy. I donât know how to address you,â Jace didnât beat around the bush and was very direct.
He didnât even ask if they wanted to drink something.
âYou donât have to address me.â Charlotte Lane admitted directly as well.
Jace was surprised for a moment and touched the coffee cup in front of him, âI didnât expect you to admit it so simply.â
âSince youâre so sure, if I donât admit it, wouldnât it be ridiculous in your eyes?â Charlotte Lane asked, âHow did you find out? Online?â
Jace shook his head, âI just visited my grandfather a few days ago. He told me.â
Charlotte Lane raised her eyebrows.
âHave you heard that Grand Master on Five Peaks Mountain said that The Purple Star has entered your destiny?â Jace asked.
Charlotte Lane replied with a sound.
It was precisely because of this that Old Master Miles had always wanted to bring âDaisyâ Home.
âIn fact, at that time, the Grand Master said a sentence âThe old person has gone, and the Purple Star has entered the destiny,ââ Jaceâs tone was filled with weariness, âMy grandfather initially thought that the âold personâ referred to Victoria Zane. But recently, he thought that âold personâ should refer to Daisy. The Purple Star entering your destiny⦠is because you took her identity.â
Charlotte Lane didnât say anything as she looked at him.
âYou took her identity in Truro City to take revenge on the Miles family, right?â Jace asked.
âRevenge?â Charlotte Lane said lightly, âWhat is revenge? I took her identity to fulfill her wish. I went to Truro City because I had something to investigate. Her wish has nothing to do with your family. In fact, from beginning to end⦠if your family were a little more settled, none of this would have happened. There was never any revenge, only seeking justice. Itâs your family clinging onto me and not letting go.â
âDonât you think what you did was wrong?â Jace asked, âIf you donât take Daisyâs identity and have nothing to do with the Miles family, you would have less trouble. Besides, the Miles family wouldnât be in this situation because of you. After all⦠Daisy is no longer here.â
Listening to him, Charlotte Lane chuckled and sneered, âSo, you mean your mother comfortably sits in the position of Mrs. Miles, and others are called Little Sam and an illegitimate daughter underground. And your grandfather, with the blood of a person on his hands, lives out his last years in peace.â
Jace didnât say anything.
Charlotte Lane continued, âSheâs gone, so you all slander her. You think, since sheâs gone, all the things she did are gone with her. Then you live a luxurious life exchanged for the life of someone else.â
Jace Milesâs face suddenly turned a little pale.
âAll I ever wanted was to give Daisy Zane and Claudia Zane justice,â Charlotte Lane said softly, âand now, everything that has happened is entirely the fault of the Miles family.â
Jace Miles was gripping his coffee cup, his knuckles turning white.
A justice that should have been given to them in the first place.
If justice is served, considering the person in front of him, she would definitely not make things difficult for the Miles family.
After allâ¦he had been working at Spotlight without any obstacles.
Everything had been smooth sailing.
He had asked Anna Skyler, and Clayson Ninevara had known all along that he was working at Spotlight. They knew since the moment he joined.
It was his family that had done wrongs, soâ¦they had tried to destroy her, and had been targeting her all along.
âI never knew about the things my grandfather and father did,â Jace Miles suddenly said. âI always thought that my grandfather was just too greedy and my father was too filial and indecisive. Thatâs why I left for abroad when I was in my teens, away from their daily indoctrination. I never expected them not only to eradicate the marriage certificate, but also to kill someone.â
Charlotte Lane looked at the guilt and anger in him.
Perhaps it was because Jace Miles hadnât grown up in the Miles family that he didnât seem much like the people from the Miles and Hobson families.
Or maybe he was like Johanes Miles.
It was just that Johanes had been completely led astray by Old Master Miles.
Or perhaps like Charles Hobson.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Except for being spoiled by the Hobson family, Charles didnât seem to have much of a cunning mind.
âI shouldnât have asked, but as their son, I still want to try.â Jace Miles lowered his head, not looking at Charlotte Lane, and struggled to speak. âI want to plead for my parents. Iâll do anything. I just want to plead for them. No matter what, my parents donât deserve to die.â
âWhether they deserve to die or not, the law will decide. This pleaâ¦should not be brought to me at all.â
Jace Miles gripped his hand and hesitated for a moment. âI, Iâm worriedâ¦â
âWorried that I would let the Clark family interfere?â Charlotte Lane asked.
Jace Miles tacitly accepted.
âWe donât have that much idle time,âCharlotte Lane said.âEverything will be judged as it should be. If you donât accept the result, you can appeal, including me.â
Jace Miles didnât say anything.
Charlotte Lane knew in her heart. Old Master Miles, with human lives on his hands, would never be released.
As for Johanes Miles and Charles Hobson, their hands were far from clean, and once they entered, they would be thoroughly investigated.
Although not punishable by death, by the time they got out, they would be too old to cause any more trouble, especially without Old Master Miles to give them advice.
âDo you have any other questions?â Charlotte Lane asked.
Jace Miles shook his head.
Surprisingly, he didnât ask about Amelia Miles. Charlotte Lane thought, something seemed to have happened between the two siblings.
âWell, then Iâll leave.â She said and stood up.
Jace Miles also stood up, and suddenly said, âIf the Miles family hadnât targeted you, and had taken responsibility for their mistakes instead of continually targeting you, would things have turned out better?â
Charlotte Lane looked at him.
Jace Miles said, âYouâve never made things difficult for me at Spotlight. In factâ¦my time at Spotlight has been very good, with excellent treatment.â
âWhy should I make things difficult for you?â Charlotte Lane countered.
Jace Miles was stunned for a moment.
âAndâ¦there are no âifsâ.â Charlotte Lane put her hands in her pockets, âWeigh things well. Donât bear the consequences and then think about âifsâ.â
Jace Miles heard the warning in her words.
After hesitating for two seconds, when she reached the door of the private room, he suddenly asked, âWhat kind of person is she?â
Charlotte Lane paused, pinched her fingertips, and whispered, âAll the adjectives in the world cannot describe how wonderful she is.â
