âWhat are you afraid of?â William Lane laughed a bit.
âWhat are you laughing at?â Amelia Smith looked at him.
âItâs funny,â William Lane said, âMy mom really likes you.â
Amelia Smith took her eyes off him and looked out the car window without speaking.
Of course she would like her as a student.
But as someoneâs girlfriend, even just for fun. With her background, standing with William Lane⦠Itâs bound to provoke others.
As Amelia Smith thought about this, she noticed the passing scenery didnât seem right and turned to ask, âWhere are we going?â
âHome.â
âI have to work,â Amelia Smith said, âPlease, drop me off ahead and Iâll ride a bike there.â
William Lane didnât stop the car.
âYoung Master Lane.â
âDonât go,â William Lane said.
âI have to make money,â Amelia Smith said.
William Lane glanced at her, seeing she was about to get angry, and asked, âStill at the coffee shop?â
âYes,â Amelia Smith paused before saying, âLast time I went to the clubhouse, I was a substitute for a friend. I had a decent job there, whatâs with the anger?â
âYou had a decent job, but were the people there decent?â William Lane said.
âYou went there too,â Amelia Smith said.
âI had business.â
âEveryone else had business too,â Amelia Smith said, âBesides, Iâm not a child, canât I protect myself from being bullied?â
âTsk,â William Lane frowned, âWhy do you always have so many reasons?â
Amelia Smith closed her mouth, her doe eyes blinked, and then she said, âI wonât go anymore.â
William Lane took her to the street where the coffee shop was located but didnât go to the coffee shop itself, âIâll pick you up tonight.â
Amelia Smith got out of the car first before saying, âNo need. I can manage by myself.â
As she finished speaking, she didnât give William Lane time to argue, she closed the car door and left.
William Lane: ââ¦â¦â
Despite what she said, after finishing his work, William Lane still came to pick her up.
He parked his car at the street corner and walked over to fetch her.
Upon reaching the entrance of the coffee shop, he had to wait outside for her.
According to Amelia Smith, his car, clothes, and disposition were not compatible with her part-time job.
So he was just a âdisreputableâ presence.
As he neared the entrance, William Lane sent her a message to let her know he was outside.
However, as he was halfway through writing the message, he noticed Amelia Smith had already left the coffee shop and was chatting with a boy outside.
The boy was their supervisor, named Ruben Wayne.
âLetâs walk together,â Ruben Wayne said.
âNo thank you,â Amelia Smith declined, âI can get there quickly on my bike.â
âAlright then,â Ruben Wayne said, suddenly reaching over to tuck a stray strand of hair behind Amelia Smithâs ear.
Amelia Smith caught a glimpse of William Lane out of the corner of her eye and was taken aback, letting him suddenly touch her hair.
She clumsily stepped back a bit.
Ruben Wayne laughed and said, âDid I scare you? I saw that hair about to go into your eyes.â
Amelia Smith touched her hair and laughed awkwardly, âThank you.â
âWhat do you keep your mouth for?â William Lane suddenly approached, âSheâs got hands, couldnât you have just told her?â
At the sound of his voice, Amelia Smith felt her heart tremble.
Ruben Wayneâs smile froze upon seeing William Laneâs face, âYou areâ¦â
âAre you not going to introduce who I am?â William Lane looked back at Amelia Smith.
Amelia Smith glanced at his face, paused for a moment, and then said, âHeâs my distant relativeâs elder brother.â
At this introduction, William Lane was amused. Relative, and a distant one at that.
He laughed, and Amelia Smith couldnât help but shiver a bit.
William Lane looked at Ruben Wayne and gritted his teeth, âThatâs right, a distant relative, so distant, itâs like three generations apart.â
Amelia Smith lowered her head, looking at her toes.
Ruben Wayne sensed the change in atmosphere, but thought it was because they were family, which was a understandable reaction. He smiled and said, âSo itâs Elder Brother.â
âWho is your Elder Brother?â William Lane said, âStay away from her. And keep your hands to yourself. If I ever see you within one meter of her againâ¦â
Amelia Smith hurriedly pulled him away, and William Laneâs harsh words were cut off as she dragged him away.
âYouâ¦â
âLetâs go, letâs go.â Amelia Smith continued to drag him.
Once in the car, William Lane became more and more upset, but didnât say anything and took her home.
Amelia Smith wanted to go back to her own rental house, but seeing him angry, she didnât dare to speak up and followed him back to the villa.
As she entered the villa and changed her shoes, Ameliaâs first instinct was to run away.
But William Lane grabbed her by the back of the neck before she could succeed.
âWhat are you doing?â
âSit there.â
Amelia Smith was dragged directly onto the sofa: âWhat, what are you doing?â
âDo you like him?â William Lane asked.
Ameliaâs pupils shrank, and a voice in her mind instinctively refuted, but she didnât let herself say it out loud.
William Lane took her reaction as a silent confirmation.
Amelia lowered her gaze, her fingers gently scratching the sofa.
William Lane took a deep breath: âDo I really disgust you that much? You donât even give me a second glance despite me chasing you all day, yet you immediately like someone else.â
Ameliaâs hands slowly clenched.
Seeing that she didnât want to talk, William Lane stood in front of her for a while before sitting down on the other side of the sofa.
The two of them sat quietly at the ends of the sofa for a while, and then William Lane said, âGo rest.â
Amelia replied softly, got up to leave, and then quietly said, âYou should rest early too.â
As she was about to leave, William Lane suddenly got up, walked over to her, and grabbed her wrist.
Then he sat down on the sofa, pulling Amelia onto his lap.
While Amelia was still in shock from the sudden fall, he pinched her face and kissed her.
Their lips touched softly, and a cold sensation traveled from her mouth to her brain.
Her face was squeezed tightly, her lips partedâ¦
Ameliaâs eyes widened in shock, as she became dumbfounded.
It was only when William Laneâs grip tightened around her waist that she snapped back to her senses and tried to push him away with her hands on his shoulders.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
But William Lane was too strong and could not be pushed away.
Ameliaâs remaining rationality made her struggle.
After struggling for a while, William Lane finally let go of her.
Amelia pushed him away, stood up immediately, her eyes red, breathing heavily, looking at him with unbelievable and somewhat pitiful incredulity.
William Lane leaned back on the sofa, his neatly dressed shirt wrinkled, his thin lips turning red, and the lust in his eyes burst forth without any concealment.
He looked up at Amelia.
âYouâre not allowed to go to the coffee shop anymore. If you want to work, Iâll arrange it for you.â The hoarseness in William Laneâs voice was evident.
âI donât need it.â Ameliaâs voice was also hoarse, but she was on the verge of tears.
William Lane didnât give in: âIâll give you a choice. Either donât go to the coffee shop, or go one more time tomorrow and never come out of this villa.â
âYouâ¦â
William Laneâs eyes grew darker.
âBastard.â Amelia wiped her lips and turned to leave.
William Lane looked down and called, âJames Lane.â
A man in black suddenly appeared at the entrance, blocking Ameliaâs path.
âGet out of the way!â
James didnât move.
Amelia tried pushing him a few times without success, eventually gave up, and returned to the living room, then went upstairs to her usual guest room.
When the room door closed, the living room fell silent.
William Lane sat in the living room for a long time before raising his hand to touch his own lipsâ¦
