Alyssa
I woke up in a cell with my head on Gloriaâs lap. âYouâre finally awake,â Gloria sighed in relief.
âUgh, I feel like Iâve been hit by a plane,â I put my hand on my forehead as my head pounded.
âItâs alright, youâre back with me,â Gloria said softly.
I opened my eyes, and everything felt like waking up from a daze. The room spun momentarily, and I started to feel quite nauseous, even though I had no idea when I had eaten. âIt hurts,â I hardly got my words out. âEverywhere,â
It was like every nerve in my body was twitching, making every move I made hurt. I felt the ground beneath me shake and heard explosions coming from outside. âWhatâs going on, Gloria?â
âI donât know dear, but it sounds like fighting,â Gloria said. Gloria then helped me sit up and placed my back on the wall. âWhat happened to you?â
âThe fight, I fought a Behir, but Elijah called him Subject Zero. Apperently, they used to hunt dragons,â I said. The room was spinning as I talked.
âThe Behirs are the original practitioners of Dragon Communion, and they taught humans how to use its power before Dragonkind and the Fairies wiped them out. To think Elijah brought back a member of an extinct species, Goddess, Eijah, what have you done?â
Thinking about Subject Zero and how I knocked him out, I couldnât help but grin. âI won,â I laughed.
âYou what? Donât take it as an offense that Iâm surprised. But well done,â Gloria smiled.
âThanks, but Iâm wondering if I had just given in if that would have hurt less than right now,â I said.
âDonât think like that, youâre safe now, and thatâs what matters,â Gloria said. Soon, the cell door opened, and Gloria stood up to meet who was visiting us.
âGet Alyssa up, Gloria, now!â Timothy said.
âSheâs too weak to stand! Leave her alone!â Gloria stood in his way.
âThen I guess Iâll drag her out of here!â Tim approached Gloria.
âDonât you dare!â Gloria growled. âYouâve done enough to her already!â
âTrust me, crown dragon, we are just getting started. Get out of my way!â Timothy threatened.
âNot going to happen!â Gloria said.
Timothy sighed. âHave it your way then!â Timothy quickly knocked out Gloria by bashing her head on the wall.
âNo, GLORIA!â I shouted, but my head pounded harder.
âAnd they call her the Crown Dragon? The Moon Goddess chose poorly; such a waste. Stubborn bitch,â Tim laughed.
I wanted to fight back and defend Gloria, but my body didnât listen. Timothy grabbed my arm and pulled me up. My legs barely helped me up, so Tim had to put his arm around my waist to drag me out of the cell.
Alexandria
âAlex! Alexandria, where are you?â I heard Megan yell my name.
âDo you need to yell?â I laughed softly.
âAlex! Are you alright?â Megan helped me get up on my feet
âIâve been better. Are you hurt?â I asked.
âI think Iâm fine,â Megan looked up through the crack we fell through. She doesnât know how far we fell in, but I donât know how we even survived in the first place. âCan you move?â
âI can stand; at least thatâs something,â I said. But as soon as I took a step, I roared in pain and fell to the ground. âMy left leg, I think itâs broken!â
âLet me take a look,â Megan said as she looked at my leg.
âYou a doctor now?â I joked.
âYou want to wait until the nearest doctor getâs here?â Megan looked at me with sarcasm. âSit still,â
Megan carefully lifted my pants, trying to move them as little as possible. âYep, itâs broken, alright,â Megan said.
âAre you sure?â I started to panic.
âI can clearly see the bone trying to break through your skin; you have a closed fracture, Alexandria; youâre lucky itâs not compound. And by the looks of it, it might become one soon,â Megan said.
âThatâs just great,â I look around the cave. âHow long do you think weâve been here?â I asked.
I see Megan look at her watch, which, by some miracle, is not broken or fallen off.
âItâs been four hours,â Megan said. âFuck, why didnât you leave me? I told you to leave me behind,â
âExcuse me!â I scoffed at her.
âYou wouldnât be hurt if you had just left me!â Megan yelled.
âAnd you would either be stuck here or dead. No one getâs left behind, Megan!â I growled.
âWell, at least both wouldnât be stuck here if you had listen to me,â Megan rolled her eyes. âYou should have left me, Alexandria,â
âAnd you think I could have lived with myself if I had left you?â I said. âLook, we canât waste our energy arguing, you have to reset my bone,â
âAlex! What?! Iâm not a doctor,â Megan was stunned.
âWe donât have the time to wait for a doctor, or if they can get here anyway. I already feel a tingling sensation in my leg, and everyone knows thatâs not a good sign. You have to reset my bone before my dragon healing kick in and heals the bone wrong, then Iâll really be fucked,â I explained.
âYouâve got to be kidding me. Alright, no time to lose, Iâm going to push it back into place,â Megan said nervously. âWhat if I get this wrong?â
âI might end up dead or with a permanent limp, no biggie,â I shrugged as Megan glared at me, not thinking what I said was funny. âSorry, wrong time to joke, but jokes are all I have left to keep myself from freaking out,â
âIf you werenât already wounded, Iâd consider killing you right now,â Megan huffed. âSo do you want me to tell you when Iâm goning to do it?â
âNo, or yes? Maybe count to three?â I breathed. Before I had decided, Megan pushed on my leg with all her strength until she felt my bone was in its proper place. I started screaming my lungs out as I grabbed my leg. âGODDESS FUCKING DAMMIT!â I cried out from the pain.
âThank you Megan,â I breathed out weakly.
âAnd thank you for trying to save me back at the bridge,â Megan smiled.
âAnything for a close friend. Now, how about we look for a way out of here?â I said.
âYeah, I almost forgot that we are trapped here. With your leg, thereâs no chance for us to climb and itâs too narrow for us to shift. Any idea, Alex?â Megan said.
âWhatâs over there?â I pointed to a dark area.
âIâll go and check; wait here,â Megan stuck her tongue out.
âIâm laughing,â I rolled my eyes as Megan went to check out what I pointed to her. âFind anything?â
âItâs a path, Alex, but I have no idea where it leads,â Meganâs voice echoed. âI might lead to a dead end,â
âWell letâs get moving, itâs better then freezing to death in this frozen graveyard,â I said.
âGood point. Are you strong enough to stand up?â Megan asked.
âOne way to find out,â I carefully lifted myself with Meganâs help. Since I couldnât put any weight on my injured leg, Megan tried to support me as much as she could.
âThank the goddess youâre a women, you look heavy but youâre surprisingly light,â Megan said.
âTrying to charm me, Megan. Iâm in excellent physical condition,â I laughed.
âAlright, letâs go and take this slow,â Megan said, and I nodded.
Vincent
Elizabeth and her army caught Sozinâs men off guard. The castle was already surrounded by the time most of them were in the air. I hope Elizabeth and her men can buy me enough time to get Alyssa out. Jacob, Bao, and I carefully moved through the maze of hallways. Before every corner, we made sure we were safe, and to ensure that we didnât waste any time accidentally checking rooms twice, we made a small mark on each door we had already checked.
âThese rooms are empy as well,â Jacob said.
âAnd so are the ones over here,â Bao added.
âAll these halls look the same,â I scoffed. âDamn it, where are you?â
We searched and searched until I opened the door and found Gloria. âGuys, in here!â I called out to Jacob and Bao. âItâs Crown Dragon Gloria!â
âIs she alive?â Bao said.
âShe is, Gloria, can you hear me?â I said.
âVincent? Iâm so sorry,â Gloria said as she sat up and saw Bao and Jacob. âJacob, Bao? What are you boys doing here? How did you find this place?â
âWeâve been walking in the jungle for days looking for this place. How are you alive?â I asked. âI thought they killed everyone that fought back in Bermuda,â
âI had leverage being a Shadow Dragon; to Sozin, I was an excellent test subject,â Gloria explained. âDid you find Alyssa, your mate?â
âYouâve seen her?â I said and smiled. âWhere is she?â
âAlyssa was in this cell not too long ago, or I donât know how long since I was knocked out, a boy came to get her. Iâm not sure what his name was, but he had blong hair and seemed to know Alyssa,â
âTimothy,â I growled.
âYou have to find her! Sheâs still weak from the fight,â Gloria said.
âDo you know where Tim was taking her?â I asked.
âNo idea, but it seemed urgent,â Gloria said.
âThey must have gotten Alyssa when the fighting started; they might use her as leverage to keep you at bay. Sozin has to know by now that you are mated to her,â Jacob said.
âIâm going to find her,â I said. âYou two get the Crown Dragon to safety.
âVincent, wait. You should know something about the man leading the warriors of Sozin. Heâs Alyssaâs father,â Gloria said.
My heart skipped a beat when I heard Gloria say that. Everything that was happening, everything that had happened to Alyssa, was all coming from the man who was supposed to be Alyssaâs father. âGet Gloria out of here now!â I ran out of the cell.
âBe careful!â Jacob yelled out.
