Dear Sweetheart Chapter 174 Why The Hell Are You Crying âCome back here!â Kristie exclaimed frantically.
She finally got to her feet after removing her cumbersome heels and rushed to keep up.
By the time she reached the empty streets, James was nowhere to be found.
âWhy wonât you listen to me, you stupid Gray Wolf! I didnât do it on purpose.â Kristie sobbed profusely as she took in the desolate scene around her.
She had no idea that they were siblings.
Kristie crouched down and burst into uncontrollable tears as she was overcome with the indignity sheâd suffered.
Heâs too much!
How could he abandon me in such an unfamiliar place?
Several blonde-haired youths who were passing by noticed Kristie weeping by the road. They took in her flawlessly fair skin and exchanged glances before making their way toward her.
One of the youths crouched down beside Kristie and asked in broken Anglandurn, âHey, why are you crying?â
Kristie raised her head and was repulsed by their hoodlum-like behavior. âHow does this concern you? Leave me alone!â
She stood up and prepared to leave.
âCome on, donât go! Letâs have some fun together!â The youth grabbed Kristie.
âGet your filthy hands off me!â Kristie shrieked as she slapped his hand off her. The youths started encircling her as if she were part of their gang to avoid attracting too much attention.
They were about to coerce her to go along with them when a tall and broad figure appeared menacingly.
âLet her go.â
The youths were annoyed at being disrupted. âWho the hell are you? Sheâs ours now, so get out of ourââ
The youth did not get to finish his sentence, as he was punched in the face.
Before any one of the youths could react, they were already lying on the ground whining in pain with aches in various parts of their body.
Once he was done thrashing the delinquents, James pulled Kristie along with him stonily and strode off.
âSlow down. I canât keep up.â Kristie stumbled behind him and cast him a sidelong glance. She had not foreseen his return.
She sniffled and added, âIâll apologize to your sister once Iâm back in the country. Iâm aware of my mistake, so please tell me that you wonât leave me.â
James ignored her.
Kristie cried out in pain and tripped.
She would have fallen if James had not supported her. His face was lined with impatience. âWhat is it again?â
I must be out of my mind. Why did I come all the way back here out of concern for her safety?
Sheâs indeed a worrisome creature. How senseless is she to be out crying in such cold weather? To think she managed to draw the attention of a bunch of thugs! Sheâd be done for if I hadnât been there.
Kristie whimpered piteously. âI think I hurt my feet.â
It was only then that he noticed that she was barefooted. Her pale soles were covered in dirt, while her left one had been cut by shards and was bleeding ceaselessly.
He was ticked off. âWhy arenât you wearing your shoes? Are you daft?â
âThatâs it! Iâve had enough of your temper!â Kristie was at her limit. âItâs all thanks to your vanishing act! I wouldnât have been able to walk at all if Iâd continued wearing my heels.â
In the next second, she put on a pitiful look as she clung to his arm. âCome now, donât be mad at me. Iâll do anything you say if you stop being angry.â
âGet your hands off of me.â
âI donât want to! Carry me. I canât walk and my foot is bleeding!â
âIâll hail a cab.â
âIâm having a migraine right now and canât stand sitting in a car!â
No matter what James suggested, Kristie hung onto him stubbornly as if she feared heâd escape. In the end, he was left with no choice but to carry her back to the hotel on foot.
Once they reached the hotel room, James helped tend to Kristieâs wounds. He then placed some medication and a glass of warm water on the side table.
âThese are your pills. Remember to take them later. Iâve sent a message to Cillian. Heâll be here tomorrow morning.â
âBut I want you and only you!â Kristie held his arm. âPlease donât leave me. Iâll apologize to your sister all night if thatâs what it takes to make you stay right now.â
She was about to make the call when James held onto her hand. âMs. Winton, that wonât be necessary.â
âEveryone makes mistakes. You canât just condemn me without giving me a second chance.â Kristieâs tears flowed freely.
âBesides, she was guilty of bullying me too.â
âWhy the hell are you crying? I didnât even so much as reprimand you.â James was vexed. âStop it!â
Kristieâs wails increased in volume. Her make-up continued to smear even further when she wiped away her tears, so much so that her face had a comical look to it.
âSays who? Youâre too much! Jeremy and Wyatt donât even raise their voice against me. Youâre the only one whoâs let me shed these many tears. This is the first time Iâve been so upset! I even hurt my foot because of you!â
Jamesâ eyebrows twitched as he relented in exasperation, âStop crying. Iâll stay with you.â
Kristie instantly did as told. âIâm hungry.â
James had intended to call for room service but had to compromise when Kristie made a fuss about it. Ultimately, he changed her room into a condominium service suite and requested some ingredients to be delivered.
Kristie held onto him from behind as he cooked in the kitchen.
âI need to prepare our meal.â
âGo ahead. I wonât be in your way,â Kristie said. âIâm just afraid youâll run away.â
James let her be.
Kristie got bolder as she took advantage of Jamesâ silence as consent to feel him up. He finally put a stop to her advances by grabbing hold of her hand just as she was reaching under his shirt.
Jamesâ face was as dark as a nimbus cloud. âCan you please stop fooling around?â
âItâs just a little touch.â
âKeep this up and Iâll stop cooking.â
Kristie pursed her lips. âI donât mind you returning the favor!â
James managed to put together a three-course meal despite the limited ingredients available. Kristie licked her bowl clean and was pacified for merely ten minutes before pestering for a shower.
James shut her down. âThat will have to wait till tomorrow. Your foot cannot be exposed to water.â
âBut Iâm all sweaty. I donât feel comfortable sleeping in such a state.â
âNo way.â
âGray Wolf, youâre unbelievable!â
Kristie tackled James, hitting and biting him. Her tactic worked as James grew so sick of her harrying that he let her do as she wished.
James supported Kristie by the hand into the bathroom and went out to get a bathrobe.
He was caught off guard by how swiftly Kristie had undressed by the time he returned.
Her skin was pearlescent, and her body had just the right amount of softness despite being slim. Her back would have been flawless if not for the ugly scar that resembled a millipede stretching across it.
James had barely caught a glance before he turned his back to her. âIâll leave the bathrobe here.â
âDonât you dare take a step out!â Kristie yelled. âYou have to monitor me. What if I slip and drown in the bathtub?â
