Dear Sweetheart Chapter 54 Apologize Curtis took a glance at Rayna.
In just a few seconds, he seemed to understand something, and his eyes turned gloomy. âThanks. You go out first.â
âYes.â Rayna lowered her head and walked out. After she closed the door of the conference room, she slumped against the door and took a deep breath.
Thank god. I made it!
Soon, Kristie rushed over too. Noticing that Rayna was still holding documents in her hands, she was fed up. âDidnât you say that you want to deliver documents to Curt? Why are you still standing here?â
âThis is the document with errors. Iâve replaced it.â Rayna saw the lounge chair next to the conference room. She walked over to sit down and quickly flipped through the contract.
Her expression turned serious when she saw the errors.
The secretarial department translated the contract without amending the errors.
How could this be? The people in the secretarial department are all top performers. The translation department wonât even make such a mistake. Itâs impossible that the secretarial department did not notice those issues during the translation.
âHey, why do you look like that?â asked Kristie. She leaned over to look at the contract but later found it troublesome. Hence, she directly grabbed the contract from Raynaâs hands.
Rayna was speechless at her action.
After reading the contract, Kristie was shocked. She turned to look at Rayna and asked, âThe quantity and the contract sum donât tally. Am I right?â
âYes, youâre right.â
âOh...â Kristie stared at the document in her hands and stomped her feet. âD*mn! These people want to use Faymon Group to do money laundering!â
If this contract was signed, the funds would be transferred to Faymon Groupâs account, and the company under Faymon Group would deliver the goods. However, the number of goods in the contract was wrong.
When the goods were loaded onto the ship, another person could transfer the excess goods and prepare another contract. Then, the large sum of money would be transferred into a private account, and it would be impossible to trace.
Rayna said, âIt was the secretarial department that prepared this contract.â
âNo wonder.â Kristie had been by Curtisâ side for a long time, and she knew a lot of things. She wanted to tell Rayna at first, but she decided not to say it in the end. âForget it. I shouldnât talk about these with an outsider!â
Rayna was speechless.
After an hour, Curtis finally came out of the conference room. They exchanged smiles and shook hands politely. Gabriel was then asked to take the other party to the restaurant downstairs for lunch.
After Gabriel led the people away, Curtis pulled his tie. Apparently, he did not feel comfortable being restrained by the tie. He glanced at Kristie. âWhy are you here too?â
âI met Ms. Garland on the way. I saw she was in a hurry to deliver documents to you, so I gave her a ride,â said Kristie coyly while holding Curtisâ hand.
Rayna chuckled.
Why didnât you tell Curtis how you bullied me just now?
âThen I should thank you too!â Curtis stroked Kristieâs hair and said to Rayna, âMs. Garland, let me buy you lunch to express my gratitude.â
âMr. Faymon, thereâs no need for that.â Rayna felt that this was what an employee should do.
Before she told Curtis she wanted to return to the company, Kristie grabbed her arm and said, âPlease donât turn down Curtâs invitation. Letâs go!â
Then, Kristie leaned closer to her and whispered in her ear, âBut I wonât let you and Curt get along alone!â
Rayna heaved a sigh.
Isnât it better to let me go back to the office?
They came to the hotel restaurant which was huge and could accommodate thousands of people. Kristie found a seat by the window and sat next to Curtis. She kept giving Rayna a provocative look, but Rayna completely ignored her.
âWhen did you find out that thereâs something wrong with the contract?â Curtis asked Rayna.
âThis morning. Mr. Lawson was away, so he asked me to amend the contract and send it over quickly. Luckily, I made it on time,â
Rayna explained the whole situation to Curtis.
After she finished speaking, Rayna glanced at Curtis quietly.
After coming out of the conference room, Curtisâ expression had been gloomy. It was obvious that he was annoyed by the issue with the contract.
Rayna was so curious about what happened. However, Kristie was reluctant to say it. She supposed Curtis would not say it too.
âCurt, why donât I go to Faymon Group to work for you? Youâre going to stay abroad for a long time, and Mr. Tylinski will definitely follow you. I am tired of acting all the time. I can help you with a lot of things! Iâm smart!â said Kristie while holding and swaying Curtisâ arm.
âYouâre only good at having fun and not cut out to do serious work. Youâll only create trouble at Faymon Group. So please stay with your film crew,â said Curtis.
Kristie pouted unhappily, âAm I really that terrible?â
Curtis did not say anything further. He poured a glass of red wine and handed it to Kristie. âSince Ms. Garland is here today, I think you should apologize to her.â
âIâve written one hundred apology letters. Why do I still need to apologize to her? I havenât settled the score with her on how she slapped me on my face!â Kristie folded her arms and looked displeased.
âKristie, do you know that you almost broke her leg?â Curtisâ voice was commanding.
Kristie bit her lip and took over the wine glass unwillingly.
âIâm sorry! But youâve slapped me too. So weâre even now!â Kristie quickly touched Raynaâs wine glass on the table with hers.
âNo manners! Stand up!â said Curtis coldly.
âOkay!â Kristie pouted, but she dared not disobey Curtis. She stood up slowly and glared at Rayna.
Kristie raised her wine glass and articulated each word clearly, âMs. Garland, Iâm sorry!â
Rayna was bewildered.
She thought that matter was over. She did not expect Curtis would ask Kristie to apologize to her face to face. This was the third time she witnessed Curtis being so harsh to Kristie.
It felt as though he was protecting her.
When Rayna lowered her head, her eyes met with Curtisâ. His eyes were cold, and her heart skipped a beat. She quickly withdrew her gaze.
Rayna stood up with her wine glass and touched Kristieâs glass. âI hope you can behave well in the future because not everyone is as nice as me.â
Kristie shot her a furious glance.
âKristie, do you remember what Ms. Garland said?â asked Curtis.
âYes, I do!â After sitting down, Kristie held Curtisâ arm again and acted cute. âCurt, Iâm feeling a little dizzy. Can you send me back to the film crew?â
âGo back yourself.â
âIâm not willing well. I canât walk. I have apologized to her. What else do you want me to do? You donât love me anymore. If you donât send me, Iâm not going anywhere today!â said Kristie, feeling aggrieved.
Curtis rubbed his eyebrows and put down the knife and fork in his hands eventually. âIâm sorry, Ms. Garland. Please enjoy your meal, and Iâll get Gabriel to send you back.â
âItâs okay. I can go back myself. Itâs not hard to hail a cab at this hour,â said Rayna.
âAll right then. Take care, Ms. Garland.â
Curtis picked up his jacket and Kristie walked away with him happily. She even turned around to make a funny face at Rayna.
