Chapter 12: Part 10

Passion That Remains DeceitfulWords: 11794

I punched the wall. The sharped tooth creature of rejection subsided, but another one reared his ugly head, don't know if it is annoyance or anger. Still don't know which one it is.

I ran a hand over my face

"Let me guess Lydia? Huh Bree? "I pulled out my phone fumbling with it.

"Look at what she ...she wrote, under your comment." I showed her the comment, as I stuttered "Wait how did you know it was her?''  I questioned Lia.

"I didn't know Bree. It was just a wild, yet accurate guess." She proudly sums it up, but I know Lydia, is not the only person that triggered these emotions.

"I swear she is doing this to get under my skin." I  exploded. Lia was quiet for a moment, She was thinking intensely. "Or is trying to get Tolan's attention, you did mention she said something  along those lines. Tolan stopped answering her calls after lunch." Analia explained.

I was confused at Lia's claims. "Maybe it was just a for the date he ignored her." She still had an intense look on her face, "Or maybe something else happened?" I pondered on her words. "Really think, what else stills survives in your memory?" I scrunched up my face.

"Why did you have to word it like that?" My lips were see-sawing, between a frown and a smile. She rolls her eyes" are you really going to act, as if  you have the best memory."

I wanted to argue, but I knew she  was right.

I thought for a good minute, but nothing came to mind. "Analia nothing comes to ..oh ." Like a ton of bricks, it weighed heavily on me. "I remember her saying you chose her over me. Do you think a conversation took place? After lunch and before our date" I knew we were on to something. Lia  nods her head ,"yeah because think about it. Because nobody ironically misses 14 miss calls for fun. And nobody calls 14 times for fun. Or goes off like that for fun." The more I think about it the more it rings true.

"Should I ask him, Lia?"

"I would, but just don't be to, clear as day about it."  Lia suggested

My phone, vibrated it was Tolan" Um, Lia. Arden asked me to meet him on the field. Right now." She started to grab her things.

" What is on the field? Why does he want you there?" Analia scrunched her face in confusion.

"There is only one way to find out. I walked out the door and Lia followed me out

-------------

"Why do you think, the corridors are empty?"  I questioned Lia "I don't know." I pushed open the door, which leads to the field. The football team was in full uniform, and so were the cheerleaders. "There she is our next Dragon." I saw Arden yelling over the mic.

I saw the familiar senior football team, standing in uniform. The two sophomores joined them for their last game, my boyfriend Tolan and his best friend Ace. Then out of nowhere, one of the guys in uniform roared. Everyone stopped to look at him. Then out of nowhere all of them dropped to one knee.

One Player starts BREE IS the best. The rest repeat

The player continued SHE CAN'T BE BEAT. The rest of the players repeat

The player continued OF COURSE SHE WON'T ACCEPPT DEFEAT. The rest of the players repeat.

They all erupted in cheers. I felt so special, the way the football team supported me.

The head cheerleader Violet jumped to the front."1,2,3." The school's band started to play. The rest of the cheerleading  team stepped forward.

Their hands were on their hips. They did simple dance moves lifting up, their legs and arms  simultaneously ,spelling letters. Than I realized they were spelling my name.

The second I realized, it my hands shot up and I covered my  face. I turned to look at Lia, she had the dimmest, toothy smile on her face. She was recording it on her phone

My heart was, trying to out of my chest. To give each one of them a hug.

Then they continued a complex routine, they were doing splits in the air and back flips. I was feeling exhausted for them. Then they formed a pyramid in record time. Their were 3 girls at the top getting thrown in the air. Every time they were in the air. They did some sick poses .People from the crowd stood in front, of the pyramid. They lifted two banners. Than out of nowhere, one of the guys in uniform roared.

They all erupted. I felt so special, the way the football team and cheerleaders, supported me . The band  ended their song. The cheerleaders did  some somersaults. I started clapping

I looked at the guy that roared again. It was ..... NO NO it can't be, let me blink again to make sure. OKAY THAT IS DEFINITELY Colton.

What was he doing in our school's team uniform? Then I saw my brother and Tolan Across the crowd. And I just knew, they had something to do with this.

Violet broke me out my thoughts." Come on band one last cheer ."She whispered as soft as a bullhorn. The band did, as they were instructed to do. The cheerleaders had their hands on the hips and started to shimmy, it  looked really basic until. They started to form a new pyramid. This time the girls on top dropped into the boys arms that was under them. There were three girls in front of the pyramid break dancing. Everyone cheered and clapped their hands.

"Let's go Bree lets go." Then they clapped two times. "Let's go Bree let's go Bree let's "

I turned to look at Lia. She was clapping with the crowd. In that moment I felt so special and appreciated.

"Bring that belt home." Bowie roared out of the blue. Everyone screamed in agreement. A sudden moment of joy burst over me. When I saw Lydia and Mickey mouse. Standing to the side and having a scowl on their faces. The sight brought pure happiness to my face.

I looked at Lia, I nudged her to look in their direction. A smile broke out on her face to.

She cupped her hand around her mouth and started to cheer" BREE,BREE." While fist pumping her hands in the air.

To no surprise the crowd started to cheer with. I turned to look at Lydia just in time to see, her rolling her eyes.

Then I jumped, because someone wrapped their hands around my waist. I tried to elbow the person, but the person moved back. The person's hands were still on my waist.

I turned around see who it was and it was Tolan, he was towering over me in his uniform. "Weren't you on the other side of the field, I just saw you?" I yelled to him.

"Baby I am quicker than sound itself." He smirked, Lia  pulled a face "you know, sound is slower than light." She said it without looking at him.

"The light is Bree, because she lightens up my world." He starts to caress my face.

"OH, Baby." I stood on my tippy toes to  get a kiss. Lia started to make gagging sounds. We both started laughing . "I see you quickened your reflexes." I teased him.

"I had too. I didn't want, to get kicked at the side of my head ......again."

"Again." Bree and Bowie said simultaneously as he was walking closer.

"Long story." Tolan and I said synchronously.

"Babe can I ask you something?" I took his hand, he turned to look at me.

He kissed my forehead "you already did darling." I lightly hit him on his chest, when he answered that. "I am joking, ask  away  baby."

"How would you feel if I were to wear your jersey. On a special specific day." He bends down and kissed my cheek. "I would love that. Just tell me what day." He whispered against my cheek.

Someone was staring a whole on my side. I turned to look at Lydia, we made eye contact, I don't know, how long we were looking at each other. I flashed her a smile, turned to hold Tolan's hand. He kissed my hand.

Bowie put his arm around Analia. I made a mental note, but said nothing.

"Settle down, everyone. "The principal started ''Bree on the behalf of Northwood. We are proud of you. We received the official letter from the Dragon Ball. You did your school proud. Arden planned this little event, to remind you the school has your support. Give it up for Bree!" The crowd cheered.

"Wait I also want to celebrate Analia she won swim nationals. She too deserves some free cheers." Ace took the mic and stated. The crowd fell silent. "Come on, guys make some more noise." A little grunt came from Bowie.

It was still quiet so I started to cheer and clap. The crowd slowly but surely followed suit.

I turned to look at Lia. She had a smile wider than the ocean on her face. "Bree you want to say a few words." My principal asked I nodded my head and walked to the podium.

"Well, I was not expecting this." I felt like a celebrity accepting an award. I was starting to sniffle, but I had to pull myself together " Thank you for coming together, to help plan this to support me, your energy, and efforts a dearly appreciated. This means so much more than anything physical...."

"Wrap it up." A little high pitch voice said.

Clap back, don't, clap back, don't clap back.

It took me couple of seconds, but I chose the best moral decision. So I shot back. "That's funny, because that's the same advice. I would have given your father."

The crowd gasped , but than started to laugh. The principle cleared his throat.

"I want to thank  everyone that made this happen .Especially my hubby Tolan.....oh and my big brother, For always supporting me." I flashed them a smile " and my best friend  Lia." Someone grabbed the mic out my hands.

"Come on Lia, Lia." Ace started to clap his hands and chant. Arden grabbed the mic and yelled "Let's play some music. "

My brother was giving a baffled look at Ace. I was standing right behind Ace to see my brothers' facial reactions.

----

"How did you pull this off." I asked Arden as I engulfed him in a hug." I just asked the principle can I have a mini pep rally. The guys on the team already liked you. Since you pop in at practice, time to time. Chat it up with them over the years." Arden answered while hugging me back.

"This was the best thing ever." I murmured into his shirt. "Yeah this is my last year here I wanted to do something special for you. Since you always wear my jersey. Every game."

The guilt started creeping up again. My words were in a thick soup of my vocal cords, I did not know what to say.

"Didn't you like it." I pulled away from my brother's chest to look him in his eyes. There was a little pang in my heart. But I just had to rip the bandage off.

"Speaking of the jersey. I don't think I am going to wear your jersey. "Arden was taken aback. He was quiet for a moment. He had minimal, facial reaction. But he snapped right out of it "You know it's your decision, as long as you are there." He sounded disorientated when he spoke.

"Okay everyone this was fun. It's time to go to class." Owens yelled

" Are you going back to class mega me." I tried to lighten the mood. He chuckled "No, I am just going to skip school. Practice with some guys." That was easier than I thought, he continued like nothing happened.

"Arden and Bree." Colton was jogging towards us. "There he is the outsiders representing our school."

"Now you getting carried away. This isn't your guy's uniform. THESE ARE JUST COLOURS THAT REPRESENT YOUR SCHOOL." Colton defended "but you really made us proud, I had to be here." He wrapped his arms around me.

"Let's head to the gym before Owens. Gets a hold, of me and forces me to class." Arden told Colton and they walked off. Colton waved at me, but Arden did not tell me to greet me at all.

"BREEEEEE." Violet jumped on me. "You have a solid brother, he made  us practice before school so it would be  perfect."   Now it made sense, that's why I saw those people earlier.

"Hey Bree, I am going home want to come with?" Violet smiled while asking me.

"Can you  go find Analia ?"I need to get Tolan. As well." I asked Violet. She hesitantly nodded her head and walked off.

I turned my head, and I saw Tolan and Lydia talking.
