'Hello (Y/N), we won't be back for another two months but we've sent you the money. Take care.' Was what mother's message read.
Sighing, I checked my bank account online and sure enough, I had extra two months allowance in it. Putting my phone in the pocket, I gathered up my stuff into a bag and locked the doors, heading out for a walk.
The message may seem sweet and caring but deep down I knew that my family never really cared for me, choosing to stay in another continent just to get the point across. I've been living alone for nearly all my life and quite frankly, I don't really care anymore.
If they don't want to love me, I can't force them to do so.
My brothers were perfect; first in the class and team captain in sports. I was the only daughter they have but it seems that I've only managed to pick up on the sports genes. Don't get me wrong, my grades are fine but I'm no genius, I just maintain them at about top 4 in the class. No more, no less.
Perhaps I could be first but it doesn't matter, I had no one to show them anyways. After all, I'll be overshadowed by my two brothers any day. Sports, on the other hand, came in natural for me. And by mean natural, I meant ALL OF IT.
Anything regarding physical activities seemed so natural for me, as if I'm programmed for all sports of any kind. From swimming to marathon to even martial arts, I have them all perfected. I could do a split anytime, anywhere. Calculus? Well, I can; but I rather not.
I may be 5'2 but I was much more agile than the boys in my school and don't even get me started with high jumps or long jumps; I ruled them all. Naturally, I'm the school's team captain for sports, playing and winning all game for the school.
Currently, I'm donned with my usual (f/c) shirt with a long black jacket and a black cargo pants. I swapped my trainers for combat boots and headed off to nowhere; letting my feet carry me to wherever. It was a Friday evening and I had finished all of my work early, giving me extra time to do whatever I like, that means I can train and workout all day until I tire myself out.
Slinging my bag over my shoulders, I jogged down the empty road of Jasper, Nevada. It was late evening and the sun has begun to set; vermillion red blanketing the streets of Nevada. I continued my trip, jogging towards the rocky hills. I've heard rumors about aliens residing there but I'm not too bothered. As long I have a place to train in peace, I don't mind sharing with whomever.
Within minutes, I reached the empty hills and dropped my bag on the dusty ground. Reaching in, I pulled out a pair custom-made sword I've ordered from the Dark Web.
...The forger was giving out sales, so I got myself a pair of (f/c) blades and some throwing knives. To make the set complete, I got myself a pair of guns with (f/c) highlights; also from the same guy. Illegal? Probably, but I don't care. These weapons worked with me naturally, as if they are a part of my body.
Sighing, I tied my hair up into a ponytail and started to do some warm-ups. After getting myself ready, I began with the basic swinging of the swords before moving onto some sword exercise; jumping and twisting in the air and doing some impressive footwork while remembering the steps.
My peaceful training was cut off when I heard a collective of gasps from behind. Turning around, I'm faced with Miko, the school's transfer student from Japan.
"That's so cool! You're (Y/N), right? Our school's sports team captain!?" she gushed. I blinked at her and gave her a small nod, before turning my gaze to see a small boy and another taller one.
Raf and Jack; if my memories served me right. The former was a genius, skipping grades although he's only twelve and a quarter. The latter on the other hand, was laid back and quite chill of a guy. He also works in KO Burgers as a part-time job, I've seen him a few times with his superbike.
To be honest, his vehicle is quite...impressive. And so was Raf's and Miko's. Raf had a muscle car while Miko had a heavy-duty vehicle, though I'm wondering where they got them, it's no place of mine to ask.
Raf and Jack gave me a look of awe before the latter spoke up, complimenting me.
"T-That was amazing! W-Where did you learn that?" he asked, genuinely impressed. I gave him a small nod of thanks.
"Thank you. I...trained by myself." I said softly, making the boy's eyes widened even more. Raf came forward and spoke up, pushing up his glasses as he speaks.
"C-Can we see your swords, please?" he asked politely. I nodded and showed it to the small boy, holding it out for them to see. Their faces of awe made my heart flutter a little; glad to know that someone is impressed with my work.
Our quaint interaction was interrupted when out of nowhere, a group of massive purple bots appeared. They had some mask covering their face with red lines over it, serving as their eyes, I guess.
"Get down!" Jack said and tackled us to the side as the bots fired; narrowly missing us. Growling, I stood back up and went in front of the trio, swords in my hands. I'm so glad all of my gears are on me and not in the backpack, because those assholes just blew it up.
Calming myself down, I quickly assessed the situation before charging forward, swords brandishing as I came down hard on the middle bot's knee. I found his soft spot and sliced off the cable, earning a howl from the robot. The other two shot at me but instead it backfired and killed the middle one.
One down, two to go.
Running towards the left one, I did a somersault before landing a hard kick to his arms. Using the momentum, I easily flipping over and ran up to his neck. The robot was trying to catch me with its claws but I sliced them off before going down for its neck cables. With a clean slice, I severed the main cables before jumping down just in time before I got crushed by the robot. The last one looked at me for a moment as it backed away.
"You may go if you choose to live. But if you want to fight, I'll be happy to entertain you." I said, not knowing if it understands me. Apparently, it did understand me because the machine aimed its cannon at me.
Sighing, I made dash to the side, tucking in and rolled as the shot missed me. Running towards the bot, I stabbed one of my swords onto its knee and used it as a leverage, jumping up to face the robot and sliced its head cleaned. Backflipping, I landed perfectly on my feet as the gigantic robot before me collapsed. I sauntered over the dead robot and picked up my sword, cleaning it with the hem of my jacket.
Thunderous footsteps snapped me out of my cleaning and I looked up to see a few more similar robots holding my schoolmates. Growling, I narrowed my eyes as I spoke, feeling my anger boil within me.
"Let.Them.Go." I hissed; ready to attack. The robots looked at me before aiming their guns at me.
Bad call.
I sprinted towards them, eliciting surprised beeps as I went berserk on them; dealing with the one holding Raf first. Severing its legs, I jumped up and caught Raf before rolling over, the boy safely in my arms as I glared at the fallen robot.
"Stay here." I ordered the boy and went back to save my two schoolmates.
Dashing to the side, I clicked my tongue as the blast nearly caught my hand. Still keeping up my momentum, I ran head first towards the robot holding Jack and ducked as I slide under the mech, slicing his two legs cleaned off. The robot made a shrill noise in pain and lets Jack go. The boy screamed as he started to free fall. I quickly made a dash and jumped up, grasping the boy and made a turn, landing on the ground safely with Jack in my arms.
The bot with Miko was starting to back away as he held up his cannons to Miko.
"S-Stay back, or I'll blow your precious friend into smithereens!" he said. I looked at the mech coolly; head high up as I strode over. The mech took a few steps back and his grip on Miko faltered.
Without a warning, he threw Miko forward and transformed into a car; speeding away. Miko was screaming as she felt herself falling face-first to the ground, only for me to jump up and picked her mid-fall, tucking in as I rolled onto the ground, the Japanese girl safely in my arms.
"You alright?" I asked, concern laced in my tone as I checked the girl for any injuries. Miko squealed and hugged me tight, causing me to lock in place as she gushed about how amazing I was.
"OH MY GOD! HOW DID YOU DO THAT?! YOU'RE SOAMAZINGYOUJUSTWENT-"
"Miko! You're suffocating her!" Jack cut the girl as he pried her away from me.
"I-I'm okay. Are you guys...alright?" I said, not used to this... feeling. That was my first time getting praised and hugged.
It felt...great.
"We're fine, thanks to your help. How the heck did you just sliced the Cons off?" Jack said, and I gave him a look.
"Cons?" I asked and he face-palmed.
"W-Well, you're bound to know sooner or later, but um...how about you come with us? We'll explain everything." Jack said as Raf and Miko nodded. I hesitated before nodded. Flipping phone, Jack called someone for a 'groundbridge' and all of a sudden, a portal appeared before me.
"Come on!" Miko said and dragged me in, Jack and Raf sighing and followed us behind. Passing through the portal felt weird but it was only for a brief moment. I am now in a...base with oversized techs laying around and...more gigantic bots.
"MIKO! YOU DID NOT JUST BRING OVER ANOTHER HUMAN!" The orange and white one snapped at her. Feeling protective, I stood in front her as I held out one of my hands in front of her, glaring at the mech before me as I drew out my sword.
"R-Relax (Y/N)! He's j-just grumpy, that's all! He's one of the good guys!" Miko quickly said. Nodding, I sheathed my swords and bowed to the mech.
"Apologies..." I said, giving the mech a nod. The mech, whom I assumed is a medic judging by how he had a heartbeat on his arms, gave me an awkward nod in return.
I turned to look around and found three more bots in the area. There was one massive olive green mech, and something tells me that he's got something to do with Miko. There was a slender blue and pink robot, which my gut tells me it's a female. There was also a yellow and black robot, whose eyes are large and looking at me curiously.
Quite adorable.
Taking a closer look, my eyes widen as I pieced the puzzles together. If the robots earlier are of the same species as them, which I'm assuming they are; then it would be logical to assume that these robots were the trio's vehicles because the robot I fought earlier did transformed into a car, and the trio's vehicle had the same paintjob-
"I take it they are your guardian and that everyday after school, they are the ones that give you guys your ride?" I concluded, looking at the trio. They had their eyes wide once more, confirming my deduction.
"How did you-"
"Deduction." I gave Jack a small nod. Narrowing my eyes, I felt something is off; as if there is one more bot in the vicinity.
"You guys aren't the only ones, right?" I said, looking around and searching for the other...bot.
"How'd ya figure?" the blue and pink one said, which I assumed correctly; she's a female. Giving the room a quick sweep, my eyes landed on the bot and I spoke.
"I feel like there's another...perhaps the leader?" I offered and the green mech had his eyes opened wide.
"Scrap, she's smart." He muttered and I gave him a small nod in respect.
"How'd you know that it's not either of us being the leader?" the female robot said, raising an eyebrow at me. I stood still for a moment before replying.
"I don't mean to sound offensive, but I feel like...there's a leader for your team, but it's not any of you." I said and the femme smiled.
"Keen optics, I'll give you that." She said, sending me a smirk.
"Thank you." I replied, blushing a little at her praise.
Our conversations were cut off when a loud and thunderous footstep came into the main hangar, and there stood a probably 30 feet tall red and blue robot. He looks down at me in surprise before looking towards the trio, silently demanding answers.
I felt the kids shifted awkwardly on their feet and spoke up, averting the mech's gaze to me.
"Greetings, I am (Y/N)." I began, holding up a hand at the large mech. From the moment he came in I knew, he's the leader. He carried an aura of one and had a look of calm and wisdom, very good qualities for a leader.
"Greetings (Y/N)," he replied, baritone voice sending shivers down my spine but I held my ground; maintaining eye contact with him. He looked towards the kids one more time and spoke, inquiring about me.
"I don't suppose you guys know what happened?" he said and Jack broke first, letting the cat out of the bag.
"T-The Cons got us! We were just having a stroll when we met (Y/N) and she was doing her sword training-"
"Sword training!?" The bots beside the one before me said in unison; surprised etched on their faces. Sighing, I leaned on my left leg and spoke, giving them a small smirk.
"I've got all the time in the world, how about a chat?"
